My Safety Rules

Always tell your parents where you are going.

A stranger might want you to get in a car or truck. Never get in!

Do not take anything from a stranger. No candy, gum, money, toys or gifts.

Try to remember what the stranger looked like. Remember what the car or truck looked like. If you can, look at the license number. Try to remember it. Tell your mother, father, sister, brother, or teacher. Be sure to tell someone.

A stranger might want to talk to you. Never talk to a stranger!

If a stranger touches you, scream as loud as you can, and run away as fast as you can.

Stay with your friends when you go to school, a friend’s house, the playground, or the amusement park. It is safer to stay with your friends.

When you go shopping or to the park, stay close to your mother, father, sister, or brother.

Look for a police officer when you are lost.

Know your address and phone number.

Do not give any information about yourself to any stranger.

Never take shortcuts.

Parents: Remember to explain why they must follow these rules. Children will remember if they are told why. Also, make sure that you gear these rules to the age of the child. For very young children, start with a few direct rules and expand as the child gets older. Even a two year old can learn to stay away from strangers. Always reinforce these rules. Children forget.

Where would you like to go?
