Genesis considers things as they stand "Oh, nothing really... you just happen
to have a startling resemblance to someone I know... I mean, Strangely colored cat-girls
aren't exactly a common thing... even in the Mutant Diner..." cocks a brow and
wonders if Vision's listning.

"I do?" Her eyes are wide, there's more to this then there seems to be.
Vision is totally oblivious.
Posted by Genesis on 6/1/2001, 11:12 pm
He nods, "Yeah," he looks over at Vision, notes her inattention and shrugs.
"Her sister infact."
Posted by Kat on 6/1/2001, 11:19 pm
Looks out into the kitchen.
"Gah!" She ducks behind the counter.
"She doesn't like me very much.."
Unfortunely for Kat this draws Vision's attention and she walks into the kitchen
just in time to see a green cat figure duck behind the counter.
Her jaw practically drops open and she almost runs into the kitchen. Peering over
the counter she looks at Kat, who is doing her best to hide. "Mirage?"
Kat looks up. Vision sees the white stripes, then she recognises the emblem on her
shirt. It's the same thing that she was wearing the first day they met.
Vision's eyes widen and they snap to green and stay there. reaching a hand under
the counter she hauls her out by the hood of her bunny hug and lifts her off the
floor.
Kat squirms and shruggles, but for some reason she can't get away. The sky outside
has gone from pleasent to pitch black in a matter of seconds. Vision looks murderous.
"You had better explain yourself."
The cool tone to her voice is much scarier then any shouting she could have done.
Posted by Genesis on 6/1/2001, 11:25 pm
He blinks as she hauls Kat up, and glances outside as the weather gets nasty "Uhh,
Vision..." but he stops when he sees the expression on her face and watches
anxiously, looking back and forth from Vision to Kat at a loss.
Posted by Vision on 6/1/2001, 11:33 pm
Outside the wind is picking up, a gust rattled the one window of the diner that wasn't
broken.
Kat winced, her ears flattening to her head as her fur puffed up.
"Explain about what?" She manages to gasp out. Vision's strangehold is
starting to choke her.
"Why you looked like me before and like my sister now." Anyone watching
her closely would notice that feline teeth have replaced her human ones giving her
a very vampiric look.
Kat notices, she winces again." I don't know why I looked like you before and
I don't know why I look like your sister now!! I've only met Mirage once! It's not
my fault I mutated!"
Vision shakes Kat, not liking her answer. "What kinda of shape shifter are you?
Who sent you?" She shakes her again.
Kat winces once more. "No one sent me!! Why would anyone send a fourteen year
old Cat girl after you? You're sure cleaning my clock.."
Posted by Genesis on 6/1/2001, 11:40 pm
"Ummm..." noticing that Kat looked like she needen some help, Genesis cuts
in, hoping that Vision wouldn't turn on him "Vision?"
Posted by Vision on 6/1/2001, 11:42 pm
"Yes?" Looks at him, one eyebrow raised.
Posted by Genesis on 6/1/2001, 11:46 pm
Glances outside "I, uh... remember what happened when you were angry at Paradox...?"
his eyes flicker to the window again then to Kat, then back to Vision, almost pleading...
it seems that Genesis doesn't much like violence.
Posted by Vision on 6/1/2001, 11:49 pm
"Yes?" Her eyebrow is still raised. Her tone has a ' and your point is?'
kind of lilt to it.
Posted by Genesis on 6/2/2001, 12:03 am
"Uhh, well..." he hesitates "What I mean is..." he pauses again,
at a loss for words.
Posted by Vision on 6/2/2001, 12:10 am
Her smiles seems to say, 'with you in a moment.'
She goes back to Kat. "Now why do you look like my sister?"
Kat sighs. "I don't know! I don't have any family so I don't know why I looked
like your sister! Or you for that matter!!"
Vision blinks at her. "What about your Mother and Father?"
"I don't have one. Least not that I know about. I'm an orphan. My parents abandoned
me when I was 2. It was only me and my older brother and I don't know what happened
to him either!"
Visions eyes widen. "Do you know what your brothers name was? How old was he?"
"I don't know. Tanner or Tom or something. He was four I think.."
Visions eyes are getting wider and wider. "Could his name been Trevor?"
Kat snaps her fingers,"That's what it was! I knew it was something with a T
in it!"

He watches anxiously, looking from one to the other as they speak. Had Vision seen
the rose he had given her so long ago, she'd have seen it's glow was not yellow now
as it had once been, but pale blue, making the rose itself seem purple.
Posted by Vision on 6/2/2001, 12:19 am
Sinks back into a sitting postition on the counter. She lets Kat stand on the floor.
She looks shocked, and somewhat worried. What is Vision had suffered a heart attack
or something?
Vision is obviously lost in memory somwhere.
Kat looks at her worriedly. "Was it something I said?"
Posted by Genesis on 6/2/2001, 12:25 am
Watches her worriedly, glancing at Kat as she speaks, then back to Vision. After
a few moments, he collects a small pocket of comfort energy and sends it to Vision
along with a feeling-question: -Are you okay...?-
Posted by Vision on 6/2/2001, 12:30 am
She shakes herself out of it. Her eyes are somewhat haunted for a moment before slipping
back to their normal expression. They also snap back to the normal icy blue color.
"Yeah.." She says quietly.
Kat blinks, Vision looks up at her and sighs. Kat winces and goes to move away, but
Vision's hand snaked out to grab her arm. "You're going to come with me, but
first I should finish my diner with Genesis."
Posted by Genesis on 6/2/2001, 12:35 am
He smiles slightly, relieved that Vision no longer means to kill Kat. The rose slowly
changes back to it's origional yellow, passing through several shades of green on
it's way.
Posted by Vision on 6/2/2001, 12:39 am
Kat blinks. "You guys are eating here? I can handle this. Is pasta okay? Okay."
She pushes both of them out of her kicthen.
"You two stay right there. Diner is on it's way."
The rattling of pots and pans come from the kitchen.
Vision looks at the door to the kitchen in amusement. "Well, this should be
interesting."
Posted by Genesis on 6/2/2001, 12:44 am
He nods, still wondering what had happened "Why did you ask her about her brother?"
he has a sneaky suspicion, but doesn't voice it.
Posted by Vision on 6/2/2001, 12:48 am
"Because there aren't too many Cat people running around. The last time I checked
there were only three green cat mutants. Me, My sister and my younger brother..."
Posted by Genesis on 6/2/2001, 12:54 am
He nods, thinking silently and waiting for Kat's return.
Posted by Kat on 6/2/2001, 12:57 am
More banging of pots and pans. She comes bustling out a short while later, two plates
of steaming pasta in her hands. "For you." She places one in front of Genesis.
"And for you." She places the other in front of Vision. Then she scampers
back into the kitchen.
Vision looks at the food, surprised. "It looks like she can actually cook.."
Posted by Genesis on 6/2/2001, 1:00 am
Laughs "Of course..." gives her a sideways glance "Must run in the
family..." and fiddles with his utencils, tasting the pasta.
Posted by Vision on 6/2/2001, 1:02 am
"I can't cook." She neatly spoons the pasta into her mouth. "Not bad.."
Posted by Genesis on 6/2/2001, 1:08 am
Nods slightly, "Mmm," the soft smile is still on his face as he works on
his pasta.
Posted by Vision on 6/2/2001, 1:10 am
Is busy eating her own pasta.
Kat watches from the kitchen..
Finished her diner...
Posted by Vision on 6/4/2001, 11:13 pm
After finishing her diner with Genesis, Vision turned her mind to the matter of Kat.
How was she going to get the girl out of the diner without anyone seeing her? Walking
into the kitchen Vision placed her plate in the sink before turning to dealing with
the cat girl.
“Time to go. Do you have a bunny hug or something else with a hood? We need to keep
those kitty features of yours covered.”
Kat eyed the older mutant warily. “Yeah. I’ll go get it.” Scampering into the office
that she had turned into her room she grabbed the nearest bunny hug and threw it
on, pulling up the hood. Then she headed back to the main room. “This good?”
Vision examined her carefully. The hood covered her head so that her feline ears
were kept well hidden. The rest of her cat features would be concealed by the shadow
of the hood, if she kept her head down. Finally Vision nodded. “It’ll do.”
Vision waved good-bye to Genesis and headed out the door walking into the night,
not waiting for Kat to follow.
The teenager scurried to catch up. “So, were are we going?”
“I’m going home, and you’re coming with me.” Vision answered tersely. Eyeing everyone
on the street with mistrust. If any of the drunks that frequented the area saw Kat,
it would be tragic. The two mutants would win the fight, but it would slow them down
and perhaps cost them some blood. Fortunately the street was basically empty. The
few people out were taking no interest in them.
“Gah!” The person that Kat was walking with was not the same one that had left the
diner.
Vision glared at her, trying to figure out what startled the younger mutant and resisting
the urge to clap a hand over her mouth and simply drag her home. Then realizing what
had probably done it, she raised an eyebrow at the younger mutant. “I shifted.” She
explained quietly. “If anyone sees you, it won’t be the human form that you’re used
to seeing getting in trouble for it.”
Kat rolled her eyes. “Eesh, you could have warned me!”
Vision shrugged it off and apologized, not sounding at all remorseful. “Sorry. I’m
used to traveling with my sister. She’s used to it.” She yanked her mind away from
thoughts of her younger sib. Who knew what she was facing in that lab?
Kat noticed Visions sudden distracted manner, and wisely decided not to comment.
Posted by Vision on 6/4/2001, 11:14 pm
Turning into a large warehouse type building Vision began climbing the steps that
lead upwards. Following Vision up the stairs Kat looked around, somewhat awed. How
much money did this lady have? This building was obviously a high class establishment.
She resisted the urge to run as Vision stopped in front of one of the doors and started
to hunt through her pockets for her keys. The older mutant, sensing Kat’s urge to
run, clamped a hand on her arm before opening the door. Hauling her inside she looked
around for Paradox. She might need his help with this.
Saash and Rhiow looked up as she entered. They had been happily watching TV and were
somewhat shocked to see Vision enter dragging someone with her. Vision storms past
them looking for Paradox.
Vision, you’re back! I got a surprise for you! The mind voice belonging to
Paradox echoed through Vision’s head.
Vision rolled her eyes. “I am not in the mood to put up with your shenanigans Paradox.”
I duno Jen, you might like this surprise.. Paradox answered teasingly.
Vision sighed. “Fine. Show me the surprise.” Her tone was resigned.
Mirage walked from the hallway into the main room. Vision’s eyes went wide, she eyed
her sister warily. “Paradox, if this is one of your tricks, God help me I will....”
Mirage interrupted her,”Really Jen, calm down. I know he’s been riding you pretty
hard, but that’s no reason to freak out at him.” All of it was said with a smile.
Mirage practically tackled her sister, hugging her.
Vision nearly broke into tears, her sister was so beat up! “Cass! You’re home! How
did you get out of the lab?”
Mirage stepped back. “It’s a long story. I’d have to tell it to you sitting down.
I’m not in that great of shape.” That was the understatement of the year. Mirage
looked like she had been to hell in back. In a way, she had been. Although her earlier
shower and the food had helped immensely she was still painfully thin. Her jade and
lavender fur lacking it’s normal healthy shine. As Vision moved to sit down on the
couch, Kat, who had been standing in Vision’s shadow, was left out in the open.
Mirage blinked at Kat. “Who’s this?” She asked her older sister.
The first thing that hit Kat was that this new mutant, Mirage looked a lot like she
did. The only difference was in the color of the stripes and the height. Was this
the reason Vision had acted so strangely? She had watched the entire reunion feeling
confused and like a complete outsider. Having attention brought to her like that
didn’t help at all. She started to explain, but a comment from Rhiow cut her off.
“That’s what I was wondering.”
Vision decided to let them figure it out for themselves. “Kat, lower your hood.”
Posted by Vision on 6/4/2001, 11:16 pm
Feeling apprehensive, the teenage mutant did so. After a shocked gasp from Mirage,
Saash and Rhiow no one commented for a good minute, until Paradox came out of the
shadows of the hall.
One look at him was enough to make Kat want to faint. With a howl of fear she dove
for a hiding spot, ending up behind the couch. Maybe this is why Vision had brought
her, she didn’t like having another mutant running around that looked like her sister
and now this demon was going to eat her! She listened for the sounds of huge raptor
feet coming for her and heard.... laughter?
Her anger was almost enough to make her stand up and yell at the peanut gallery for
making fun of her. It wasn’t quite enough, she remained cowering behind the couch.
Her eyes tightly closed. When nothing happened she slowly opened them. She almost
freaked out again, she was floating in mid-air, well above the back of the couch.
Vision, Mirage, Saash and Rhiow were all laughing their heads off.
Kat scowled and her ears flattened to her head. “If you’re going to eat me or something
get it over with! I refuse to be your amusement as well as your diner!”
This only made the four laugh even harder. They had almost fallen off the couch they
were laughing so hard.
Paradox grinned, showing all his teeth. I don’t know. It’s always more interesting
to play with your food before eating it.
Mirage gains control over her giggles long enough to gasp,”Paradox leave her alone,
you’ve scared the poor kid half-way to death!”
With a sigh Paradox floated Kat towards the floor. You’re no fun at all, Cass.
Mirage smiled. “I may not be, but still, you shouldn’t play with people’s minds
like that.”
Paradox raised an eye ridge at her. Why not?
Mirage swats at him with her tail. “Because it’s not nice.”
That might have gone on for awhile if Vision hadn’t stopped it. “Kat, why don’t you
explain. Just summarize everything you told me.”
Kat looked around nervously, she relaxed enough to stand only moments ago. “Everything?”
Vision nodded. “Yes.”
Posted by Vision on 6/4/2001, 11:18 pm
Kat looked down at her feet and started to explain. “At the age of two I was found
with my older brother, Trevor, on the door step of a orphanage. Both he and I found
foster homes, but we where separated. I went to my new home, and he went to his,
I haven’t seen him since. I lived with my foster parents. When I was younger I though
they were my real parents. It wasn’t until I was older that I started noticing that
neither of my parents had dark hair or ice blue eyes. They explained everything to
me. It didn’t really bug me, it was obvious that my real parents didn’t care enough
about me to keep me, and my foster parents were really nice. With one exception.
They didn’t like mutants. They wouldn’t let me make friends with any of the ones
that went to my school. We barely visited my uncle who was also a mutant. When I
woke up in that parking lot with two months of my life missing I went home. The last
thing I remember is hiding in a parking lot and cops all around. My eyes turned green
and cat like, I was obviously a mutant, I knew I couldn’t stay. Collecting all of
my stuff I left home. I found the office in the diner and moved in, turning the diner
into my home. It was kinda fun, I had company even when Calvin wasn’t around, and
I could do whatever I wanted to. Then Vision showed up, and got really mad, so now
I’m here.” She looked up when she finished, ready for any expression on the faces
of the gathered mutants. Except the ones she saw, surprise, shock, amazement.
Mirage glanced at Vision, both eyebrows raised. ”Is this real?”
Vision looked at Mirage. “You tell me. Do you sense any deceit in her?”
Mirage frowned in concentration. She shook her head a moment later. “Nope.”
Paradox was looking thoughtful. Why did you show up at the mutant diner before
you started mutating?
Kat blushed under her fur. It wasn’t a tale she wanted to tell. Looking up she realized
that she would have to. Vision, Mirage, Paradox, Saash and Rhiow were all waiting
for her answer. Expressions on their faces ranging from curiosity to suspicion.
“Part of it was rebellion towards my parents. They didn’t want me to have anything
to do with mutants, so I wanted to learn as much about them as I possibly could.”
She answered, hoping that they wouldn’t ask about the other part. No such luck.
“So what was the other reason?” Rhiow inquired.
“When I was younger, a mutant saved my life.” She answered, hoping that it would
satisfy their curiosity.
“How?” Mirage prompted.
Kat looked down at her feet again as she told the story. “When I was young, about
eight or so, I got very ill. I was hospitalized. None of the doctors knew what I
had, but they had an idea how to solve it, an operation. They performed the operation,
and for awhile they thought it worked. Within a month I was sicker then ever. In
fact I was dying. I remember waking up, and seeing my foster mother crying. My foster
father was as white as a sheet. I don’t think they knew I was awake, because they
started talking with a doctor. I didn’t understand most of it, but I remember seeing
my father support my mother as they walked out. Both were now in tears. The doctor
looked at me, also a bit teary then walked stiffly out of the room. I had almost
fallen back to sleep when another person entered. I opened my eyes long enough to
recognize the nurse that had been taking care of me. I closed my eyes again, I was
so tired. I opened them again when the nurse gently touched my arm. No-one made skin
contact with me any more. They all feared I was contagious. When she saw my eyes
open she smiled. I could almost feel power gathering around her. Her hair turned
blue and her eyes went white. I wasn’t scared. I could see that she meant me no harm.
Blue sparklies shot from her finger tips to land on me. I smiled back at her, feeling
better. She smiled once again. Her hair and eyes had returned to normal, then she
staggered out of my room. I don’t know what happened to her. I remembered that my
parents had been sad, so I got out of bed. I could move easily because they had taken
out all the tubes and such earlier. I found my parents in the waiting room, my mother
was sobbing. Being the eight year old that I was I scampered up to her and demanded
to know why she was so sad. I think that for a moment they thought that I was a ghost.
They both went pale. Then they scooped me up, nattering about miracles. When I mentioned
it to them later, they said that I must have been hallucinating, but I knew...”
When Kat finished the rendition she looked up into the thunderstruck faces of the
five adults.
Paradox gulped. Well, that explains it quite nicely.
“Maybe too nicely.” Rhiow commented. The other four nodded in agreement, but
didn’t answer. After all, it could be true. Besides, niether Paradox nor Mirage felt
a hint of lie.
Posted by Vision on 6/4/2001, 11:18 pm
Standing up Vision walked into the kitchen, gesturing for Mirage to join her. “So
what do you think?” She asked as Mirage took a seat at the kitchen table.
“I really don’t know. Everything makes sense. Mom, Dad and Trevor disappeared after
the mob trashed our house. They escaped and settled elsewhere. They had another kid,
Kat. The same thing happened and they were forced to give up Trevor and Kat, then
they disappeared again. Kat was captured by the lab, still human and the stress of
having two months of her life disappear from memory brought on the mutations. I don’t
know. It sounds like she’s telling the truth.” Mirage answered.
“Should we tell her?” Vision sighed.
“I don’t see why not. She grew up as an only child. She’d probably be thrilled to
find out that she has two older sisters.” Mirage replied.
“Well, I don’t know if she’d be too thrilled to know she’s related to me.” Vision
commented dryly.
“You freaked out pretty bad on her, didn’t you?” Mirage questioned.
Vision nodded somewhat sheepishly. “For a moment I thought she was you.”
Mirage nodded,”I thought so. It is kind of amazing how much she resembles us. We
should definetly tell her. Besides, how else do we have a resonable explaination
for keeping her here, under our watch?”
Vision nodded. “Do you want to tell her? See might react a little better.”
Mirage grinned and nodded.”Sure, but I think you should shift if she asks. You know
she’s going to want to see.”
Vision sighed. “I will if she asks.”
Mirage grinned again. “So let’s do it. It’s not every day you find out you have a
younger sister!”
Mirage and Vision walked back out to the living room.
“Kat.” Mirage started. “We have something to tell you.”
Posted by Vision on 6/4/2001, 11:20 pm
The teenage mutant looked up, worried. This didn’t sound good.
“You just found your family. I’m Cassandra and this is Jennifer. ” Mirage finished
with a introduction.
Kat stared, wondering if this was real. She had dreamed of this before, finding her
real family, but she’d never come up with anything this strange before.
Reading her expression Vision nodded. “It’s real.” Kat was eyeing Vision somewhat
nervously.
“Okay, I can believe that I’m related to you.” The young mutant said to Mirage. “But
her?” She asked, staring at Vision.
Vision rolled her eyes. “You sound so thrilled.” Mirage elbowed her older sister
and Vision sighed and shifted back to her natural green anthro kitty with navy blue
tabby markings form. Jugding from Kat’s shocked gasp, she believed her now.
Snapping back to her prefered human form Vision sighed once again. “It’s a good thing
we got that guest room finished. Come on, we’ll get your settled.”
Still somewhat shocked, Kat followed her long lost older sister. This was going to
take a long time to get used to.

Vision's house in a delivery UPS truck. He goes to the back of his truck, and pulls
up a package, then walks to the door and rings the bell.
Posted by Vision on 6/5/2001, 5:15 pm
There's an instant flury of activity. Kat and Paradox are out, so there's no worry
about them. Rhiow and Saash head towards the bedrooms. They're safely out of the
way. Now only Mirage and Vision are left. Vision sends Mirage into the back of the
house with Rhiow and Saash. She could shift if she had to, but it might not be needed.
Still in her human form Vision peers through the peep hole, somewhat suspicous. The
form she's in now is different from the one that visits the diner. Slightly shorter
with grey blue eyes and plain dark brown hair. Seeing the delivery guy she shrugs,
opening the door on it's chain the slightest bit.
Posted by the UPS man on 6/5/2001, 5:21 pm
"Delivery for A Ms. Jennifer LeVali. This is the right house, correct?"
He looked at the address on the box again, and nodded to himself. "Here you
go, Ms." He tried to fit the box through the slight opening between door and
wall, but can't, since the box is slightly too big.
Posted by Vision on 6/5/2001, 5:22 pm
She opens up the door a bit wider, still leaving it on it's chain.
Posted by the UPS man on 6/5/2001, 5:23 pm
He nodded, then slipped the box through so she could take it. "There you go,
Ms."
Posted by Vision on 6/5/2001, 5:24 pm
"Thank you. Do I have to sign for it?"
Posted by The UPS man on 6/5/2001, 5:26 pm
"Nope. Have a good day, Ms!"
The package was slender and about a foot long. The only thing was, it had no return
address.
Posted by Vision on 6/5/2001, 5:28 pm
It's not having a return address, nor having to sign for it had made her suspicous.
She wasn't going to let anyone near this thing until she figured out what it was.
Smiling slightly she headed into the room that she had set up as a sort of work room/
lab.
Posted by The package on 6/5/2001, 6:30 pm
Under close examination, the package looked pretty safe. There was nothing sharp
pressing up against the sides that one could tell, it was just an ordinary cardboard
box. But if you held it up close to your ear, you would hear the slightest noise,
as if something inside it was breathing. And, every so often you would hear a little
sigh, that, if concentrated on, you would guess it sounded sad, maybe even a little
scared.
Posted by Vision on 6/5/2001, 8:12 pm
She frowned in concentration. She didn't trust breathing packages. Especially when
they did things that people could assign emotions to.
At Vision's house.
Posted by The package on 6/7/2001, 6:32 pm
The sighs seemed to have stopped, and the breathing was now below the average human's
ability to hear. Obviously whatever inside had realized its hideout was being scrutinized.
Posted by Vision on 6/7/2001, 6:34 pm
She scowled, her ears twitching faintly even though she's still in human form. She
didn't trust this thing, or it's sender. Prehaps she was just being paranoid, but
with all this anti-mutant junk going on it was better to be safe them sorry.
Posted by The package on 6/7/2001, 6:36 pm
Whatever it was inside stayed quiet for a long time, but suddenly a small sneeze
sounded from inside it. A definite feminine sneeze.
Posted by Vision on 6/7/2001, 6:39 pm
She scowled at it again. Sneezing packages were even worse then breathing ones. With
a sigh she prods the package with the sharp steel cutters that are sitting near her
workbench.
Posted by The package on 6/7/2001, 6:45 pm
"Ouch!" It most definitly was a voice, but it was very small. Something
scuttled to the other side of the box, and by the tiny noises it made, it must have
been in a hurry to do so.
Posted by Vision on 6/7/2001, 6:57 pm
She nearly laughs. She turns to eye the blow torch almost seriously.
"Why have I just been sent a talking package?" She asks the box.
Posted by something inside on 6/7/2001, 7:06 pm
Whatever it is inside must have gathered its courage, for it yelled, "Let me
out! I'm going to suffocate!" But the yell was only as loud as a whisper and
seemed scared.

'If you survived long enough to get here through the mail you'll survive a few moments
longer. First I want some information."
Posted by the something inside on 6/7/2001, 7:10 pm
Another sad sigh. "Okay. What do you want to know?" The voice sounded dejected,
maybe even with a trace of pouting, but it was hard to tell since it was so soft.
Posted by Vision on 6/7/2001, 7:13 pm
"You heard the question. Why on earth have I been sent a talking package? And
by whom. While I'm at it, what are you?"
Posted by inside the package on 6/7/2001, 7:21 pm
Another sigh.
"I'm a mutant. I put myself in this box--a very difficult thing to do--and then
mailed myself to someone I thought could help me....At least, I hope you will help
me....At least, I hope you like mutants....That is....I'm from the HMTHS, the Headquarters
for the Mutant Temporary Holding Stations. I grew up there, and I hated being used
so I...picked a random address, typed out an address label and mailed myself...."
Posted by Vision on 6/7/2001, 7:25 pm
"You picked a random adress and mailed yourself to it? That is possibly the
stupidest thing I've ever heard.. I could be one of The Friends of humanity and flushed
you down the toliet."
Posted by the creature inside on 6/7/2001, 7:29 pm
"That's better than what they did to me...." she said softly, and it was
barely audible. She fell silent.

"So they did paticularly stupid things to you?" Her tone is conversational,
like she's discussing the weather.
Posted by the girl inside on 6/7/2001, 7:38 pm
"Yep," she tried to match Vision's tone, but it sounded slightly strained.
"They hung me upside down for two days once to see if the blood rushing to my
head would kill me....Just as an example...."
She was silent for a moment, then, "Will you please let me out? I won't harm
you."
Posted by Vision on 6/7/2001, 7:41 pm
"Can't you get out yourself? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but you appear to be trapped
in a card board box.."
Posted by the girl inside on 6/7/2001, 7:46 pm
"Well, no, not very well." Suddenly a small hand pushed its way out from
the tiny hole Vision had made earlier. "I'm very small and not very strong."
There was a small thump as she must have punched the wall with her other hand, but
there was no indentation to show for it.
Posted by Vision on 6/7/2001, 7:48 pm
She rolls her eyes. "Oh fine. Watch out." WIth that scant warning she digs
the steel cutters into the side of the box, opening it up.
Posted by Twixle on 6/7/2001, 8:12 pm
"Eh, thank you." The creature who said it stood, revealing a girl about
six inches tall with butterfly wings and long blond hair. Her skin was a medium tone
and her clothes looked foreign, her top was red and her long flowing skirt was patterned
in reds, blues and golds. Her wings themselves were translucent, with hints of a
myriad of colors here and there.
She blinked several times, her large blue eyes adjusting quickly to the change in
light.
Posted by Vision on 6/7/2001, 8:16 pm
"Wow, you are tiny. So what are you planning to do now that you've mailed yourself
to a complete stranger who let you loose?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/7/2001, 8:19 pm
She blinked a few more times, then adjusted her skirt nervously, even though it needed
no such thing. "Well...I guess I'll start by asking what your name is?"
Posted by Vision on 6/7/2001, 8:24 pm
"You're the one that mailed yourself to me. You should at least know my name."
Posted by Twixle on 6/7/2001, 8:26 pm
She shook her head and her hair seemed to linger in the air a little longer than
usual before it fell back down against her back. "No...I mean, if you are a
mutant, what's your callsign? Or your nickname perhaps?"
Posted by Vision on 6/7/2001, 8:27 pm
"Do I look like a mutant?" She's scowling.
Posted by Twixle on 6/7/2001, 8:36 pm
"N-no..." She looked scared for a moment, seeing Vision's expression. "I
was only hoping that maybe...you were. I know mutants arn't always as obvious as
me...."
She sighed, looking a little forlorn. "So, should I call you Ms. Jennifer, then?
Or do you mind if I just call you Jennifer?"
Posted by Vision on 6/7/2001, 8:37 pm
"Just Jennifer."
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 5:51 pm
She blinked then sat down, folding her legs up under her.
"Do you mind if I stay here then? I don't really want to go back...."
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 5:54 pm
She frowns down at her. "Don't you have family to go to?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 5:59 pm
She shook her head, frowning. "Not that I know of. The personnel keep that information
from us so we feel like they are our only family....Supposedly." She shrugged.
"Family" obviously didn't mean anything more to her than a word people
used sometimes.
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 6:01 pm
"You know the rules. Anyone that has anything to do with mutants is going in
the camps, what am I supposed to do if they come looking for you?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 6:06 pm
She stood and stepped off the table, catching the air with her wings. She flew to
hover close to Vision's forehead. Breathing deeply she gathered her strength and
closed her eyes then reached out and touched Vision. Power flowed through her, and
almost immediatly, Vision returned to her true form.
Twixle opened her eyes and flew back a few inches, then hung her head slightly. "I'm
sorry. I should have asked first, but...I wanted to know if you were one or not before
I decided what to do...."
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 6:09 pm
Snarls in surprise. "You do realize that if I wasn't suspicious before, I am
now? And you didn't answer my question. "
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 6:12 pm
"Sorry, I had to find out before I could answer. If you were human, I would
leave and find some other place to hide, but if you were mutant I could help you."
She looked up, looking her in the eye, "And I never expected anyone to trust
me. I was a MTHS mutant. No one trusts those let alone mutants in general."
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 6:16 pm
She smiles wryly,"I'm about this far from putting you in a glass jar."
She reverts to her human form again.
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 6:21 pm
She backed up a bit, biting her lip nervously. "As long as there are air holes
in it...."
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 6:23 pm
"What do you think I am? Eesh. Even I would put air hole in it. Small air holes,
but air holes. "
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 6:26 pm
She looked relieved. "I've been put into many-a-jar that didn't have any way
to breathe in it....Personnel seemed to think it was funny...."
She was silent for a moment, then she looked again at Vision. "Have you already
been tagged?"
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 6:28 pm
"It isn't."
"Tagged? I have no idea."
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 6:39 pm
"Oh. Oh, yah. I forgot. You wouldn't be able to tell unless...." She brought
her wrist up and began tapping at a small wristwatch barely noticeable against her
dark skin. Then she made a fist of her hand and extended it to Vision. "I'm
scanning you for the tag," she explained as she lowered her arm back and looked
at the watch again.
"The good news is, you haven't been tagged. The bad news is, if you don't want
to be tagged, don't go to the diner or try to escape across the boarder."
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 6:41 pm
Watches this all scowling faintly.
"Okay, so why can't I go to the diner, or the border?" She hadn't been
planning to do either, but the thought of sending Mirage away had crossed her mind.
"And what do these tags do?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 6:47 pm
She looked up again. "Because if you go to either of those places you'll be
tagged. And if you are tagged there is nothing that can stop you from being captured."
She said it all calmly. It was all a matter-of-fact.
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 6:50 pm
"How can I avoid capture, and why do they tags make it impossible to escape?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 7:02 pm
"Hmm...I don't know how to avoid capture besides not being tagged. Of course,
they can always come and just kidnap you....But if you are tagged then they can just
Teleport you directly into a holding station, no questions asked."
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 7:05 pm
"Oh great." She suddenly wonders what Kat is up to and groans.
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 7:10 pm
"Yah. The only thing is, I don't know how to take the tags out. Only a few MTHS
mutants know how to do that, and I'm not one of them."
She flew around in a small circle, thinking, before returning to hovering in front
of Vision.
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 7:12 pm
"Is there anything you can tell me that's helpful?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 7:22 pm
"Besides 'don't get tagged'?" She frowned in thought. "Ummm....Not
really, but I do know how to get past some of their security proceedures, but only
from the inside. SO that knowledge is only helpfull if we are captured...."
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 7:24 pm
"Which is not something I want to happen." She sighs.
"Do you want some food or something?" Is at a loss about what to do.
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 7:29 pm
She sighed also, then brightened when food was mentioned. "If you please, I
won't eat much." She looked down at her small size then back up again.
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 7:37 pm
She smirks.
"Yeah, I guessed that."
She taps a little button on the wall.
"Rhi? Could you grab some food and bring it to me? I'm in the workroom."
Her tone doesn't leave any room for arguement. Sitting back Vision waits for the
food.
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 7:40 pm
She flew over to the table and sat down on the edge, swinging her legs back and forth
as she waited. Her stomach growled at the prospect of imminent food but it was too
soft to be heard by anyone but her.
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 7:42 pm
A polite tap on the door is heard. Vision gets up, opens it, thanks Rhiow, and then
plops the plate on the table.
"Dig in. How long did you spend in that mail box anyway?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 7:47 pm
She dug in, breaking the food up into smaller pieces for her to handle. "A couple
days...I think two, but it was so dark in there I couldn't really tell day from night."
She continued to eat, shoving food into her mouth as soon as she could swallow.
"Mmm...This is good!"
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 7:48 pm
"Your Welcome."
She watches her eat for a moment.
"So what made you think of mailing yourself to someone. And how did you manage
to make sure that the person that recieved it didn't have to sign for it?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 9:13 pm
"Well, I saw a catalogue lying opened on someone's desk and I had been trying
to figure out how to escape, so it just hit me then that I was small enough to mail
myself. As for not having to sign, I went through UPS which doesn't require you to
sign for packages," she said between mouthfuls.
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 9:27 pm
"Oh, maybe it's only FedX that makes a person sign for things." She falls
silent to let the little mutant eat.
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 9:31 pm
She nodded, then continued to eat. When she was finished she looked down at her hands
and asked. "Do you have napkin? Or a sink to wash myself in?"
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 9:34 pm
She points to the sink in the corner of the room. And searches around for a paper
towel.
"Here ya go."
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 9:39 pm
She stood and took the towel then flew to the sink and set the towel next to it.
She then lowered herself next to the facet fixture for cold water and pushed it,
using her wings for extra strength. A trickle of water fell from the facet and she
smiled and began to wash off her hands and face in it. Then she flew back and turned
off the water and began to dry herself.
"What's it like living in the real world?"
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 9:44 pm
She thinks for a moment then shrugs helplessly.
"I don't know how to describe it. You have your good parts and your bad.."
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 9:49 pm
She finished drying herself then looked for a place to throw it away, found one then
proceeded to do so.
"Is it very dangerous out here?"
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 9:52 pm
"For a mutant that looks like I do? Yes. There are a lot of Anti-mutant mobs
out there."
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 9:53 pm
"But...you are able to hide yourself among them. Is it still dangerous? Even
then?" She returned to her spot on the table.
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 9:55 pm
"Yes. If I slip up they'll turn on me even faster then they would any other
mutant. Shape shifters are not trusted."
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 9:59 pm
"Yah, I guess you have a point. What you see of me is what you get. That is,
except the one power I have to return things to their original form." She sat
on the edge and proceeded to swing her legs back and forth again in thought.
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 10:07 pm
"Ah."
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 10:17 pm
Suddenly she frowned. "Do you...have a family? A real one?"
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 10:22 pm
"I haven't seen my parents for a long time. They were attacked by a mob when
I was seven..." She still doesn't trust her completely so she doesn't mention
Mirage, or Kat. Drat, were is she? She should have been back long ago...
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 10:31 pm
"Oh, I'm sorry. Are all mutants out here orphans?" She stopped swinging
her legs and asked this sadly.
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 10:33 pm
"I don't know. Some of them probably have normal lives."
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 10:38 pm
"Normal..." she murmured to herself as if thinking the word over.
"May I stay here? I will sleep in my box if you want me to and I won't go exploring
if you tell me not to."
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 10:39 pm
She shrugs. "Sure. I guess so. It's not like you have any place else to go,
is it? I think I might still have some doll furniture around here someplace..."
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 10:41 pm
"Really? You'll let me?" She grinned at the prospect of her own furniture.
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 10:45 pm
"I don't see why not. You'll probably want to stay in this room though. I have
cats..."
Never mind that the cats were human at the moment.
Posted by Twixle on 6/8/2001, 10:51 pm
She looked up. "Cats? Yah, I don't want to be a cat's plaything." Her wings
fluttered nervously for a moment, then stopped.
She smiled. "Thank you!"
Posted by Vision on 6/8/2001, 10:53 pm
She almost laughs at that cat's plaything comment. It was so true, especially of
Rhiow...
"No probelm.."
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 6:12 pm
She was silent for a moment, then asked,
"So, do I have to pay rent in some way? I don't have any money, and nothing's
really free any more. I could offer my services!"
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 6:14 pm
Raises an eyebrow. "Offer your services?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 6:18 pm
"Well, I can't do much more than I said--use my power, be small, and get out
of security places. But ummmm...I could be a messenger...though you are probably
telepathic so that wouldn't work. Or I could do housework, or be a lookout, or...."
She fell silent as she tried to think of more options.
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 6:20 pm
"Telepathic? Nope." She shrugs. "Don't worry about it. I have other
boarders that just kinda loaf around.."
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 6:23 pm
"Really?" She looked faintly curious. "Is there anyone small like
me?"
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 6:26 pm
"Nope."
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 6:31 pm
She sighed looking almost sad. "Oh well. I guess I'm used to it by now."
Then she brightened up but it seemed forced.
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 6:43 pm
"So have you always been that size?"
She's trying to make conversation. It hits her that the question might not have been
the most tactful one she could ask..
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 6:48 pm
"Yep...well, that I can remember anyway. I've found that those scientists really
like to mess with one's memory. No MTHS mutant remembers their family, but some still
remember being a child and playing. But no one remembers the faces of their friends
from then. It's odd. Even the younger mutants."
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 6:52 pm
She frowns, the reminder of her sisters ordeal is not a welcome one. She had gotten
the entire story out of Mirage earlier, and it had darkened the sky as Visions good
mood plumited. She shakes it off. "That is strange.." Then she almost smiles.
"Who knows who you might be realated to."
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 7:01 pm
She noticed the frown and wondered what Vision's could be thinking. Maybe a run-in
of her own? Surely she doesn't sympathize with me so soon...we just met. Yes, that
must be it--a past experience. So, she decided to leave the subject alone for
the most part.
"As long as I don't find that a long lost relative is a cat through-and-through
who decides that this small relative tastes good, I'm fine with being related to
somebody strange." She shuddered then smiled.
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 7:06 pm
She almost laughs. Almost.
"Maybe I should see if I can go find that playhouse.."
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 7:09 pm
"Okay, I'll wait here." She began to push the box over to the other side
of the worktable to make room in case Vision wanted to put the playhouse on the table.
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 7:11 pm
She leaves the room and is gone awhile as she rumages through the attic. She comes
back later lugging a playhouse complete with furniture. She plunks it on the table.
"There ya go."
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 7:16 pm
She grinned happily as she looked it up and down, then opened the door and went inside.
She explored everything. Down to sitting on every chair, looking out every window
and going up and down the stairs a few times. She seemed to enjoy that the most:
her own set of stairs. She even tried out the bed, although she had a hard time rolling
over with her wings when she tried that.
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 7:18 pm
Peers in a window.
"So what do you think?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 7:21 pm
"It's great! Thank you!" She bounced up and down on the bed and clapped
her hands like a little girl.
"So, whose was this, yours?"
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 7:22 pm
"It was my younger sisters."
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 7:27 pm
"Cool! Well, if she's still around, will you tell her thank you for me?"
She stopped bouncing and looked out the bedroom window.
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 7:30 pm
She nods.
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 7:34 pm
"Hmmm." She opened then leaned out the window. "Do you have a feather
I can borrow? I need to do some dusting...."
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 7:35 pm
"A feather? I don't think so.."
Posted by Twixle on 6/11/2001, 7:38 pm
"Or a scrap piece of cloth I can use for a towel perchance?"
Posted by Vision on 6/11/2001, 7:43 pm
"That I can do." She finds a clean rag among her stuff and hands it to
her.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001, 6:27 pm
She took the rag and pulled it through the window then busied herself opening all
the windows to let the dust she disturbed leave the house. Going back upstairs for
the rag, she began to dust, humming to herself in an unfamiliar tune, and completely
forgetting about Vision's presence.
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001, 6:29 pm
She sits quietly, watching the little mutant clean house while she thinks.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001, 6:34 pm
She continued dusting and humming, working quickly, but leaving no trace of dust
behind her. She moved to begin the downstairs.
The only thing strange was the song she was humming. Not only did it sound odd, but
the melody was haunting and sounded foreign, like a mixture of traditional Chinese
and Indian--a very odd mixture. But she seemed completely unaware that she was humming
as she continued to dust.
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001, 6:36 pm
Listens somewhat distractedly as she thinks. Then she blinks and looks down at the
house.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001, 6:43 pm
This continued on for a time. Then she finished dusting, and stretched, still continued
humming.
She opened her little door and went down the small steps to the table, then held
out the dirty rag.
"Thank you! Now I'll have a clean house to live in." If the song she hummed
was not strange enough already, when she began to speak the air began to vibrate
and the song continued picking up harmony and spine-tingling countermelody.
She no longer hummed. The room did. But she did not seem to notice.
Suddenly the song faded quickly and the jewel on her forehead began to pulse a deep
rich crimson.
And she was naive, oblivious to all this.
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001, 6:45 pm
Her eyes widen. "Twixle, what are you doing?!"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001, 6:58 pm
Twixle cocked her head. "What do you mean? I'm handing this to you."
The melody continued, picking up a new countermelody to twine around it. The jewel
began to pulse a rich purple. Suddenly her eyes began to glow a darker shade of the
jewel.
She dropped the rag then looked up at Vision as if she were a new person. Suddenly
a ball of blazing white light appeared in her left hand and it shot at Vision.
Immediatly the ball of energy diffused into Vision's skin, and made its way through
her blood stream.
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001, 7:05 pm
Something in Twixle’s change of manner altered her and she had begun to dodge as
the ball hit her. She jerks flashing through several forms before falling back into
her natural feline state.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001, 7:14 pm
Twixle smiled, but the smile contained nothing of her innocent self. Suddenly her
wings disappeared completely and she walked foreward, stepping off the table but
continueing foreward as if she still walked on it.
"Hm." She smiled crookedly. "Let me introduce myself. I am Twixle--the
genetically-altered Twixle called into consciousness whenever I make the other sing
that song. Guess what? I just tagged you. Feel lucky I gave you such a grandiose
one. Everyone else before you was tagged without their knowing. At least you are
not ignorant of the fact.
"But you will be in about ten minutes." She looked at her watch. "Excuse
me, nine minutes. In nine minutes you will forget ever hearing that song or the events
after. All you will remember is that I--she finished cleaning and handed you her
dirty rag."
Her crooked smile turned into a smirk. "Questions? Comments? Concerns?"
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001, 7:25 pm
Her eyes are pure white and the sky outside is darkening rapidly, but her sister
is her first concern. Walking with deceptive calm over to the intercom she clicks
it on.
"Cass. Go visit with Jon for a couple of days, okay? I've got some business
to take care of. Take the two cats with you, will ya? Make sure you feed them. While
your at it, see if you can hunt down Kat will ya? She's disappeared." She says
all this calmly, but the sky outside is still darkening. She turns to the other and
shifts slightly. Remembering the mutant that she used to turn Rhi and Saash into
humans. With a movement that's amazingly quick she slaps a glass jar over Twixle
and slips the lid on, not caring if the little mutant gets thrown around a bit. Now
she brought the other mutants powers into affect. She knew the clock was ticking.
A white light began to build around Twixle. If this worked she could leave the Twixle
she talked to unharmed while flattening this nuscience like a bug.
Posted by Evil Twixle on 6/13/2001, 7:33 pm
She glared at Vision through the glass and brought her left hand up holding a ball
of white light. The energy shattered the glass, cutting her but she did not notice
nor did she care. She turned her glare on Vision.
"Cass. Jon. Kat. Would you like to know something? Kat is also among the ignorant
tagged." She shot another ball of energy at Vision, aiming for her heart.
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001, 7:37 pm
She managed to dodge this one. She blasted Twixle with her own bolt of energy and
watched as Twixle's form became indistinct. Lightning struck outside and a rattle
of thunder rolled through.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001, 7:42 pm
She continued glaring as her form went fazed out, but it was obvious she was concentrating
on keeping it together. The jewel on her forehead pulsed, trying to keep her dna
together so it would not change in the process of shifting.
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001, 7:46 pm
A mad Vision is a powerful Vision. That's the reason Paradox never messed with her
when she was really ticked off. Her eyes blazed as she poured power into the change.
Twixle began to solidify again, but there seemed to be two of her!
Posted by Twixle and Altered Twixle on 6/13/2001, 7:57 pm
Once they solidified it was obvious what happened. Both forms of Twixle wore the
same clothes, had the same curled blond bangs and straight pony tail, and even had
the same jewel. But one Twixle--the altered one did not have wings, and the other
Twixle did.
The innocent Twixle, the one with wings, looked around, then looked at the other
altered her and her eyes widened. "Oh dear...." The innocent Twixle looked
at herself then back at the altered one, awe plain on her face.
The altered one smiled at Vision. "I know what you've done, and now I know what
you're capable of." She disappeared leaving the innocent Twixle to stare where
the altered one had been.
"Oh my." The innocent one said again. Suddenly her head snapped up to look
at Vision, then she looked at her watch and back up again. "I'm sorry. I remember
everything now. You were tagged..." Then her eyes widened. "Quick do you
have any penicillin? I don't know why, but that reverses the effects of that energy
burst."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001, 7:59 pm
"The stuff that tastes like Bananas? I think so.." She runs out of the
room and into the bathroom, leaving the door open and not caring. She comes back
with it a few seconds later.
"Do I just drink it?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001, 8:02 pm
"Yah, but don't overdose yourself. Just look on the bottle and give yourself
enough according to your age or weight."
She stood up, looking slightly unsteady on her feet. To compensate, she spread her
translucent wings.
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
She eyes Twixle for a moment.
What if this only makes it worse? But if it works, and I don't take it, Cass I'll
be in trouble..
That though steadied her, Cass came first, and it's not like she had anything to
loose.
Quickly reading over the bottle she digs a spoon from a forgotten lunch and pours
the dose into the utensil. After a moments pause she dumps it into her mouth and
swallows.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
Twixle wondered at the pause, but then thought to herself, She has every right
to doubt me. For all both of us know I could still be altered and acting under the
influence of MTHS. But I know this works. All the tests proved it worked under every
situation.... She shuddered inwardly at the thought of all those tests. Constant
tests.
She checked her watch. "Now we wait. If that did not have penicillin contained
in it, you have six minutes till you lose your memory."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Great, just great." She slumped into a nearby chair, frowning. The sky
outside had calmed, now it was a sullen gray color that reflected Vision's mood perfectly.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
Twixle walked, becoming more steady with each step towards the chair. She stopped
at the edge of the table and sat, swinging her legs beneath her. "Don't worry,
even if you do forget--which you won't, you'll still remember me, though not the
altered me. And you will remember your family--Jon, Cass, and Kat."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Yeah, but I won't remember that Kat is tagged." She sighs deeply.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"Don't worry about that. I'll tell you she is."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Thank you." Her tone is faintly sarcastic. Not intentionally, Vision just
gets sarcastic when she's annoyed. Her tail twitches somewhat nervously. She's too
anxious, and tired to shift back to her human form. "So how long is it now?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"Three minutes. Oh, and by the way, Centauri is tagged, too. My altered self
got a broadcast before you took us apart. I know he is Paradox's friend and I know
you are Paradox's--Jon's friend so...."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
She refrains from mentioning that Centauri is actually Paradox's cousin. Her tail
continues to twitch nervously, betraying her otherwise calm exterior. In an effort
to take her mind off of it she starts asking questions. "So were do you think
your,"She stumbles for a term. "clone is going now?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"Umm...Well, it won't calm you down any but she's probably on her way back to
the HMTHS. I can't imagine why though. They'll question her and test her like crazy--but
she'll be compelled to go there, if she is the purely altered me."
She sighed and stopped swinging her legs back and forth. "You see, we each have
chips attached to our brain that can control us on whim. That's probably how they
stimulated the change in me, was through that chip.
But the chip only works through genetic alterations that react to it."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"So let me see if I have this straight. You both have chips, but her chip can
control her, and yours can't?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"Well, I'm not sure. Since you split us...I'm not sure if the chip was just
copied onto her or not...I guess we'll have to do a catscan to find out. But I guess
the main thing is the chip will be useless if I have it, but it will kill me if someone
removes it."
She looked at her watch. "15 seconds."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Ah, well there goes that idea." Her tail starts twitching even faster
in it's nervous rhythm.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She sighed and resumed swinging her legs. "For better or for worse, now that
you split us, I now have my entire memory back....Next time I start singing that
song, lock me up or something. And I can garantee you, there will be a next time.
Just rest assured that it won't be because of the MTHS next time."
She sighed.
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
Vision looks around, almost as if she can't belive it. "That was 15 seconds,
right?" Then the rest of Twixle's words register. "You'll start singing
that song again?" A wind blows past the windows, echoing Vision's sigh.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She nodded. "Yah, at least you'll have warning, however strange. I remember
the scientists said it had something to do with puberty. Oh well, I don't really
want to know what....So, you still remember everything?"
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
She raises an eyebrow at Twixle, didn't the comment about 15 seconds tell her anything?
She squashes the sarcastic comment that was building and simply nods. "What
is that song supposed to do, anyway? Aside from erasing memory and tagging people.."
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
Twixle shrugged, then blinked as if she had been staring into space a second before.
"I'm not sure exactly, and I'm not sure the MTHS scientists knew either, they
just took advantage of it. But I think it's just my own way of readying myself to
use a new power." She shrugged again. Remembering.
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
She simply nods, lost in her own train of thought. "Do you think your clone
would listen to the HTHS people if we somehow gave her the choice?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She blinked, then looked at Vision. "What do you mean? We were forced to listen
to the Mutant Temporary Holding Stations personnel all the time. They were our masters
and we were sworn to obey...."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"I don't know. If we somehow turned off the compulsion to listen to them, but
left the way to hear them? This is all theroretical, mind you. I honestly don't have
a clue about how we would do this. I'm just saying, If..."
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"Oh, you mean for the broadcasts? To make her listen to them but not have to
obey them? I'm not sure. We'd have to capture her again and she is more used to her
power than I am."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"I'm just asking if you think that she would side with me and mine, or if she
would continue to listen to the personal.." She pauses for a moment.
"Actually capturing her is a little beyond me at the moment."
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She thought for a moment. "I'm not sure. It is possible, I mean, I was able
to escape, though they obviously found out since they tapped into my chip. So it
is plausible that she might. However she would have to dodge a lot of security again--including
the Compelling done through the chip--and that was hard work. And since they know
I escaped they'll probably change the security so the MTHS mutants won't know how
to get out of it."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Hrm. Okay. It was an idea." She's lost in thought for a few moments longer.
"What did you do in that place, anyway? What was your job?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She frowned. "Identifying mutants, discovering mutants' whereabouts and backgrounds,
and like all the other MTHS mutants--tagging them once found. But until my memory
was unblocked, I did not know everything I had found out. Now I know that the MTHS
have been watching this place and that the reason your address could be picked randomly
from the database was because you were a mutant or had something to do with them."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"That's not good. Maybe I should sic Kat on them." She almost smiled. Ealier
she had found her younger sister playing around with the computers that controlled
the house. After calming the freaking out Vision down, Kat showed her older sister
her 'improvements'. She had improved pieces of the system as well as adding some
bits that Vision had never even thought of. The idea of setting Kat loose in their
Data Base was a tempting one, but she didn't know how good her youngest sister was.
Another thought hit her and she scowled. "They're probably going to raid this
place to find out if any other mutants are hiding here, right?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She thought for a moment, then her legs stopped swinging abruptly. "Oh...dear....
Come to think of it, I'm sure the reason why they let me go was to tag all of you.
I was wondering why they did not just use Compelling again--I wouldn't have been
able to fight it again if they did--to make me return. I'm sure they knew where I
was the whole time and took advantage of it."
She held her head in her hands. "Oh, I'm so stupid! Why didn't I think of that
earlier!"
She sighed, her head still in her hands.
"I'm not sure if the'll raid or not. Maybe what the other did was satisfactory?
But I doubt that."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"So they'll probably raid." The sky overhead darkens. "What am I going
to do with all my stuff?" She says mostly to herself as she looks around her
workroom.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"Hmmm..." She thought for a moment. "I'm sure if you stay here you'll
be fine. If you get everyone together I'm sure you can defend a house like this.
They'll probably just send the MTHS mutants if they raid. I'm pretty sure they won't
send the Bots."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Yeah, but if we fight we get slapped with a death penalty. I suppose I could
just leave the security system on." Her eyes gleam dangerously. Her last incounter
with a lab had given her some ideas. "Wait a mintue, Bots?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"I could help you defend the place, and all MTHS mutants already have the death
penalty since the law goes for all mutants--no exclusives--so if they fight you both
die and you get rid of them, too...if you feel like being optimistic at the moment."
She nodded. "Yah, Bots. Those are the security robots, but those are already
shipped to the holding stations, or camps or whatever you want to call them. I don't
think they'll get recalled all the way back to New York just to invade one house."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"I guess I never thought of it that way." Her tone doesn't sound optimisic.
She blinks. "Where are the holding stations?" She had been under the impression
that they were someplace in New York.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"I only remember knowing about three. One is under water somewhere, one is on
the water somewhere and one is in a mountain range--but I don't know where that one
is either."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Mountain Range? That doesn't sound like anything around here..."
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She thought for a moment. "Nope, it sure doesn't." She stretched, her jewelry
clinking together to make small tinking noises.
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
She frowns. "That isn't good."
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"Oh! And I just remembered, there are rumors that we were getting some new mutant
recruits. Something called ummm...Sams and Safs....Do you know about them? I had
never heard about them before."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
Her eyes widen, making her look like an alarmed cat. "This keeps getting better
and better." She explains about the whole Lab thing. Leaving out her source
of information.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
Her eyes widened. "Oh dear. Then, do you know how to fight them? I'm not sure
what role they will play--maybe they'll be part of the High Security team, I'm not
sure."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Well, I have some idea, but the fights I've had in the past with them have
been somewhat less then successful. Now what can you tell me about this Security
team?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"Well, there are three levels of security: low, medium, and high. Right now
we're in the observation stage where the MTHS personnel watch the tagged mutants
to see how powerful they are and how much control they have over their powers. The
potentially dangerous and dangerous mutants or those that will give the most resistance
go in high security. Low security is basically dorms that you can't leave--though
there is a common room--and you can't use your powers. Medium is in between the two."
She thought for a moment. "The security teams are the teams of Bots and Mutants
that watch over the occupants of their section."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Ah, it's the Lab all over again. Least we didn't have to worry about murderous
robots with the Lab.."
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She nodded. "Though if my understanding is correct, the Minimum security --the
low security section will be much easier to live in than the lab."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Yeah, but we're also going to have mutants in the high sercurity. Heck, after
the show I have that clone of yours, I might be in the high security."
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She nodded again. "You're probably right. From the report I heard, I think Centauri
will be in Medium just because he doesn't have much control. Kat will probably start
out in Minimum since they've observed that so far she is just a cat-person, though
after watching you--her family, they'd probably stick her in medium, too."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Great. How good a sense do they have of a mutants powers? If a mutant doesn't
use their powers, does the MTHS know what their powers are and how strong?"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"They know what they know through observation, at least--that's all I've seen
them do. They watch the tagged mutants through observation screens and make judgements
based on that. However, there are rumors that they can find out exactly what the
power is through some mutant, though I've never really believed that. Then of course,
i don't know all of the mutants personally."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Well I suppose there's some good and bad in that.."
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She nodded and fell silent, thinking to herself. Then suddenly she blinked and looked
up again. "I just remembered--part of the broadcast reported that one of the
MTHS mutants was murdered in the forest. It was reported that three mutants were
there--Centauri, Star, and Werewolf. I don't know how important that is, but I just
thought I'd let you know."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Centauri managed to murder someone?" That's shocked her.
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"I don't know. All they said was it was one of those three." She wondered
at her shocked expression. "Why? Is he really that clumsy with his powers?"
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
She almost laughs. "Centauri? Clumsy? Are you kidding? Clumsy is an understatement!"
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She giggled. "Seriously? Wow, how does he survive in the forest then? How can
he catch any food?"
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"He's part horse. He doesn't need to catch anything, unless the grass out there
has mutated and grown legs."
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
"Oh!" She smiled sheepishly. "I should have guessed--having that callsign
and all that he was part horse."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
She shrugs, actually smiling. Considering that she's still in her natural form, it's
a somewhat scary expression. "Just beacuse a person's call sign is something
doesn't neccesarily mean it describes them. Although I have to admit, Centauri is
paticularly well named."
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She nodded. "Yah, my callsign is Twixle--whatever that is."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
"Well. I assumed that the 'ixle' part came from pixie.. Not quite sure where
the TW came from..."
Posted by Twixle on 6/13/2001
She thought for a moment then said, "Hmmm..I have no idea where the "tw"
came from either. I don't remember ever getting my callsign, I've always had
it, I guess."
Posted by Vision on 6/13/2001
Vision nodded, then scowled as a knock sounded. Flicking a view screen on and then
quickly off she heads out of the room. "Err, one second.. I'll go answer the
door.."
