( Vision is captured by the lab, that’s all in another log.)
At the college, sometime in the past...
Posted by Genesis on 9/17/2001, 8:20 pm
He dashes from the Amy's room and runs almost all the way to Vision's apartments,
following his thread of energy that hadn't found what it was
Posted by Mirage on 9/17/2001, 8:23 pm
The now human Mirage peeks her head out of an window.
Posted by Genesis on 9/17/2001, 8:28 pm
He's relieved to see her, but still incredibly worried about Vision. He'd be broadcasting
like crazy since he doesn't know he's doing it.
"Where's Vision!?"
Posted by Mirage on 9/17/2001, 8:31 pm
She hauls him inside, shouting things like that out in the open could get you in
trouble. "Simply put, poof!"
Posted by Genesis on 9/17/2001, 8:33 pm
That's what he was afraid of... He slumps, then reaches out with all his strength
and sends a strand of energy towards the rose, wherever it happened to be...
Posted by Mirage on 9/17/2001, 8:35 pm
Looks at him worriedly. Vision would not be happy with her if she let Genesis get
sick. She steers him over to a couch.
Posted by Genesis on 9/17/2001, 8:53 pm
He's off in another world right now, so he's led docilely enough. Just as he reaches
the couch, the strand of energy reaches its target. He pushes a little more and a
tentative connection is made.
Posted by Mirage on 9/17/2001, 9:03 pm
She studies him for a moment longer, then goes into the kitchen to get him a glass
of water.
Vision sits upright as she feels a bit of the connection. She wasn't sure how she
could, considering her powers were blocked, but she wasn't going to worry about that
now.
Posted by Genesis on 9/18/2001, 12:50 pm
He smiles vaguely and sends warm feelings of greeting at Vision. All that can be
sent through this kind of connection are feelings, simple ideas and maybe pictures,
they're too far away for words and complex thoughts, but it's enough.
Posted by Mirage and Vision on 9/18/2001, 2:28 pm
Mirage comes back from the kitchen and hands him the glass of water, then sits down
on the couch opposite to study him somewhat worriedly.
Smiling to herself Vision sends a little picture of her quarters, the lunchroom and
her fellow mutants.
Posted by Genesis on 9/18/2001, 2:40 pm
He nods slightly, still smiling, relieved that she's safe... and not in the same
conditions as the last lab... he sends a message something like "Are you alright?"
questioning and a more than a little worried.
Posted by Vision on 9/18/2001, 2:53 pm
He gets a bit of a question mark back. It seems to indicate that she's okay so far
and rather amused by the whole situation. Something must be going on. There's also
a set of numbers rattling about in the back of her mind. Whatever has happened so
far has given Vision a whole bunch of new ideas.
Posted by Genesis on 9/18/2001, 4:04 pm
He almost laughs, he's so relieved. He manages to come back to himself, and notices
the glass of water in his hand, and Mirage sitting across from him. He beams at her,
keeping the connection with Vision open. "She's alright..." he sends her
the same feeling that Vision had sent him a moment ago, along with a question to
both sisters, and cocks his head.
Posted by Mirage and Vision on 9/18/2001, 6:01 pm
Mirage laughs, the worried look fading from her face. "Well if she's already
got ideas for something new to build, she's okay."
From Vision Genesis gets a picture of her workroom. Then another little picture of
Mirage and Genesis going into it. Then an big blue arrow.
Posted by Genesis on 9/18/2001, 6:01 pm
He chuckles at that, and pauses when Vision sends. His expression clouds momentarily
with confusion, then he shrugs and tells Mirage what Vision wants them to do. "And
don't ask why, I have no idea..." he stands and waits for Mirage, sending Vision
another question.
Posted by Mirage and Vision on 9/18/2001, 6:15 pm
Mirage shrugs helplessly and goes to the thick metal door of Vision's work room.
She pauses for a moment, going into Vision's workroom without her was a strange experience.
Most of the time the workroom was off limits. With another shrug she flips open the
door and steps inside, looking at Genesis. "Now what do we do?"
Vision sends another picture of her workroom. This one focuses on the table on the
opposite side of the room.
Posted by Genesis on 9/18/2001, 6:37 pm
He transfers the information sent by Vision, and shrugs, following.
Posted by Mirage on 9/18/2001, 6:46 pm
Mirage shrugs as well and heads towards the table. There's only three things on it,
small devices that look like watches. Two are more masculine, one is more feminine.
Vision sends a little picture of them putting on the watches. She pauses for a moment,
trying to figure out how to get the next idea across.
Posted by Genesis on 9/18/2001, 6:52 pm
"She wants us to put them on..." he pauses, "And something else..."
his hand pauses over one of the more masculine watches as he waits for the rest of
the idea to come.
Posted by Mirage and Vision on 9/18/2001, 7:00 pm
Mirage studies the strange watch looking thing, then slips it on her wrist.
Vision sends another image, this one is rather strange. A non-descript person with
blue hair and the words 'tagging personal' written in big red letters across their
forhead. There's another person, obliviously a mutant. The tagging personal shoots
something at the mutant and a little tag appears around their neck. Mirage and Genesis
appear in the picture, Mirage in her human form. The tagging personal walks right
past them without looking. Then Vision sends a little question mark, as if wondering
if they understand.
Posted by Genesis on 9/18/2001, 7:09 pm
He blinks, understanding immediately, but he wants to be sure. Translates the idea
for Mirage as he slips his own on, then sends the idea "Protection?" along
with an image of them holding a shield between themselves and the same 'tagger' Vision
had used, and the notion of being invisible to them.
Then as an afterthought he sends a question about the last one, and a picture of
Paradox putting it on.
Posted by Vision on 9/18/2001, 7:13 pm
Confirmation and a mental grin for both questions.
Mirage looks down at her new 'watch' reflectively. So that's what her sister had
been working on.
Posted by Genesis on 9/18/2001, 7:18 pm
He smiles and turns to Mirage "Where's Paradox?" he picks up the other
'watch' and looks at her significantly.
Posted by Mirage on 9/18/2001, 7:22 pm
"Probably in his den." Mirage answers.
Posted by Genesis on 9/18/2001, 7:43 pm
He nods and follows the hall to Paradox's Den, thankful that Mirage had given him
the tour. He knocks politely on the door, his feeling of some urgency tempered by
his thoughts of what Paradox could do if he were angered.
He sends Vision an updated report on what he's doing the whole time.
Posted by Mirage on 9/18/2001, 8:07 pm
Mirage follows along.
~ Something up?~ Paradox's mental voice floats to them.
Mirage answers. "Yeah, are you going to open the door?"
The door slides open and the lights flick on. Paradox is still sitting on the couch,
but he looks up when they step in, one eyebrow raised.
Posted by Genesis on 9/18/2001, 8:35 pm
He nods to Paradox and considers how to explain the situation "I've contacted
Vision..."
Posted by Paradox on 9/18/2001, 11:04 pm
He raises the other eyebrow, and sits up straighter. "You have?"
Posted by Genesis on 9/19/2001, 1:12 pm
His eyes were once again black, and if one looked closely, his birthmarked palms
were glowing faintly. He nods and continues "It seems she'd been busy..."
he holds up his arm so Paradox could see the 'watch' "These are made to protect
us against the taggs, or at least being captured." the images weren't specific,
so he wasn't positive. He holds out the third device to Paradox.
A thought occurs to him, and he sends a quick question-feeling to Vision, and an
image of Kat with no watch looking worried.
At Vision's apartment, sometime in the past....
Posted by Paradox and Vision on 9/19/2001, 6:01 pm
Paradox looks faintly curious about the pure black eyes, but doesn't comment. After
all, his own eyes changed from brown to yellow to red and back again every time he
used his powers. He nods in satisfaction when he sees the watch. "Ah, I was
wondering what she'd been working on." He nods again, and takes the watch. Slipping
it over his six fingered hand he makes sure it's placed securely on his wrist.
Genesis receives a little picture of Kat with the words 'tagged' in red letters across
her forehead.
Posted by Genesis on 9/19/2001, 6:13 pm
He only smiles faintly and nods, black eyes unfocused, because he'd just received
the answering thought from Vision. He sends back the sense that it wouldn't work,
accompanied by another question feeling.
Posted by Vision on 9/19/2001, 6:15 pm
Genesis gets an image back of Vision taking a chalk brush to Kat's head, trying to
wipe off the red letters, then giving up and walking away. There's also a bit of
mental laughter behind that little scene.
Posted by Genesis on 9/19/2001, 6:24 pm
He chuckles aloud and smiles sadly, sending a feeling of maybe getting to know her
youngest sister better, along with an image of Kat running away at top speed with
Vision close behind looking homicidal.
Posted by Vision on 9/19/2001, 6:28 pm
Is that sheepishness? Well, whatever emotion that was it's quickly snuffed.
Posted by Genesis on 9/19/2001, 6:39 pm
He laughs aloud and returns to the 'land of the living' so to speak, turns his thoughts
back to where he was with Paradox and Mirage, still smiling, and grins at the first
face he sees.
Posted by Mirage on 9/19/2001, 6:44 pm
Wonders what that was all about.
Paradox meanwhile is wondering were Kat's gotten to. "Hey Mirage, have you seen
Kat recently?"
Posted by Genesis on 9/19/2001, 6:55 pm
He grins at her all the more. When Paradox asks, he's also curious "She sin't
here? Maybe she's at the diner.." he suggests.
Posted by Mirage on 9/19/2001, 7:35 pm
She frowns, looking worried. "I don't know. She went out awhile ago and I haven't
seen her since." She falls silent for a moment. "Being the youngest is
so much more fun, and less worrying."
Paradox laughs.
Posted by Genesis on 9/19/2001, 7:47 pm
He also laughs "I think I agree..." he smiles and transfers information
to Vision, if only to keep her up to date. "Let me go see if she's at the diner,
she was living there at one point, wasn't she?" he comments, turning towards
the door.
Posted by Mirage on 9/19/2001, 7:50 pm
"I think I'll come too. It's been a long time since I've been out and about..."
Paradox frowns. It's obvious that he wants to come too, but he can't. It's still
light outside and he would make an easy target for any idiot with a gun. ~ I guess
I'll see you later...~
Posted by Genesis on 9/19/2001, 7:54 pm
Genesis nods knowingly to Paradox, then leads the way outside, quietly turning a
few things over in his mind.
Posted by Mirage on 9/19/2001, 7:56 pm
She follows along silently, the blond hair of her human form waving in the breeze.
Posted by Genesis on 9/19/2001, 8:00 pm
He smiles, calling up a mental picture of the first time he saw both of the sisters,
and Kat, all in human form. I seemed like a decade ago, with all that's been happening.
Posted by Mirage on 9/19/2001, 8:04 pm
She chuckles. "Ah, that seems so long ago." A flashback of all the things
that have happened since then runs through her mind. She shudders at the memory of
the lab.
Posted by Genesis on 9/19/2001, 8:42 pm
He nods silently, then pauses in his approach, sensing someone 'in the diner'...
One is Kat, the other two... he's never met before. He tells as much to Mirage, then
continues his approach.
Posted by Mirage on 9/19/2001, 8:50 pm
Enters the diner and spots Kat sitting at one of the booths talking with two other
people. She doesn't recognize either of them, but she assumes that the Roo looking
mutant is Kat's friend Kanga.
Kat looks up, not recognizing Mirage. She studies the blond teen worriedly. She grins
as Genesis enters. "Hullo Genesis! Who's your friend?" She gestures towards
Mirage who giggles. Kat raises an eyebrow at her.
"I'm guessing that you don't recognize me? Your own sister?" She acts hurt
for a moment before laughing again.
Kat's face lights up with recognition. She knew that laugh. "Mirage!"
Kat does a full round of introductions, Naming Joey and Kanga to Mirage and Genesis
and vise versa.
Posted by Genesis on 9/19/2001, 8:55 pm
He smiles and bows gentleman-style for the introductions and smiles the whole time.
Posted by The Group on 9/19/2001, 9:02 pm
Joey grins and waves when he's named, Kanga only raises an eyebrow looking at Kat
as if to ask who the guy is.
Mirage meanwhile grins. "Hello Kanga, nice to finally meet you. I heard about
your little rescue mission, Joey. Kat told me all about it. "
The silver haired teen blushes and shrugs it off. While Joey is entertaining the
two, Kat is telling Kanga who Genesis is. Kanga laughs, then eyes Genesis with new
respect.
Posted by Genesis on 9/20/2001, 3:44 pm
He studies both of them carefully and looks curiously in the direction of the two
girls, wondering what Kat is telling Kanga. He turns back to Joey and wonders "Rescue
mission?"
All the time, he's sending information to Vision about what's going on. He's also
curious if Vision had met the two before.
Posted by The Group on 9/20/2001, 5:44 pm
Kanga starts laughing again and Kat elbows her.
Joey looks faintly embarrassed. "Kanga was in a bit of a situation. I just helped
her out of it."
Kanga snorts. "That mob was out for my blood!"
"Well, maybe you shouldn't have bit that guy.." Kat suggests quietly, one
eyebrow raised.
"He deserved it...." She mutters. The rest of her sentence is unintelligible.
Genesis receives he mental equivalent of raised eyebrows. Evidently Vision hadn't
know about her younger sisters interesting companions.
Posted by Genesis on 9/20/2001, 6:07 pm
He chuckles and shakes his head, as much at Kanga's comment as Vision's. He proceeds
to send along his first impressions of the two, and wonders what she'll think of
her youngest sister now.
He had sensed something earlier, and was still curious about it. So, while they were
relatively busy with other things, mainly each other, he decides that now is the
best time to satisfy his curiosity. His eyes fade to black and go unfocused as he
uses his talent to search for the unusual energy he'd sensed before.
Posted by The group on 9/20/2001, 6:18 pm
How does my family manage to make such strange friends? Vision wonders as she views
Joey and Kanga through the link.
Mirage sits down at the booth and makes small talk, eyeing Joey out of the corner
of her eye the entire time. There's something strange about that boy....
Posted by Genesis on 9/20/2001, 6:29 pm
Genesis is in a kind of trance. He focuses on the unique energy signal of each of
the other people in the diner, his attention finally coming to rest on Joey. He blinks
at what he finds. It is something he had experienced only the opposite of before...
When they had encountered the vampires, they had an energy signature of... the only
thing he could think of is wrongness. His allergic reaction was an attempt on his
part to remove it from his vicinity... Joey, on the other hand, had traces (albeit
well hidden) of the purest good... there was something about that boy...
He transmits the information he just discovered to Vision, in hopes that she'd have
an answer for him, or at least an idea.
Posted by The Group on 9/20/2001, 6:35 pm
Genesis receives a question mark and a good deal of curiosity through the link from
Vision.
Mirage meanwhile is getting the same general feel. She was going to have to talk
to Kat later about her new friend.
Posted by Genesis on 9/20/2001, 8:37 pm
He tries to decide what to do, but shrugs and strides over to sit by Joey with a
friendly smile. He figures that since the girls were busy with each other it'd give
him a chance to chat with the intriguing young teenager. "So tell me the story.
What in the world did she do, and how did you rescue her?" he asks amiably,
incredibly curious, though not about the story. He wonders if the energy signature
could change as it had with one of the Vampires... Besides, where they gave him an
intensely vile sense, Joey... well, one could see why Kat had befriended him in the
first place.
Posted by Joey on 9/21/2001, 12:41 pm
"Kanga was surrounded by a rather angry mob. I, um, distracted the mob so Darkling
could get her out of there." It's obvious that he doesn't think it was much
of a rescue. He says it like he was just doing his job.
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001, 3:23 pm
He cocks his head curiously "Distracted?"
Posted by Joey on 9/21/2001
He looks faintly sheepish for a moment. "Um, yeah."
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
His looks says that he'd very much like to hear more.
Posted by Joey on 9/21/2001
"I um...." He pauses for a moment.
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
He sits still, watching curiously but waiting patiently.
Posted by Joey on 9/21/2001
Joey realizes he's not going to get away with just part of the story so he explains
as briefly as possible. "Well, I knew that there was trouble so I went to go
help. Jett and Darkling came along. We found Kanga arguing with a rather angry crowd,
so we stepped in to help. Jett and I distracted the crowd while Darkling used his
powers to get Kanga out of there. The crowd was rather annoyed with Jett, so I hauled
her out of their and then took off into the woods so they would follow me. Then we
circled back to the diner..."
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
He blinks at the brief telling and nods, smiling knowingly. He wasn't going to
get much more out of him unless he grilled him for answers, and he didn't really
want to do anything like that. He sends what he'd just learned back through the link
to Vision, and glances quickly around the diner to see what everyone else is up to.
Posted by Joey on 9/21/2001
Kat and Mirage are still chatting, but Kanga is listening to the two males conversation.
She frowns at Joey, shaking her head at parts in the story. She doesn't consider
it a very good rendition. "You're being waay too modest." She tells the
older teen in a no nonsense tone. "He probably saved my life, taking off on
those big white wings of his getting just about the entire crowd to follow him..."
She trails off, obviously lost in memory.
Meanwhile Kat, who's stopped chatting for a moment to listen resists the urge to
laugh. Kanga had it bad...
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
He blinks again, eyes widening. It wasn't like the idea of wings was new, he'd seen
Talon before, but something had just clicked in his mind. He looks at Kanga, about
to say something, but decides against it and turns instead to Joey, one eyebrow raised.
Then he looks off to the side slightly. He was in the process of transferring that
bit of info back to Vision to see if she got the same impression he did, so his eyes
were black again and he looked slightly vacant, like he was trying to remember something.
Posted by Joey on 9/21/2001
As Kanga mentions his wings, Joey goes embarrassed again. He also looks the tinniest
bit worried, as if he's done something silly.
Kanga looks between the two, trying to figure out what she's missed.
Kat's still trying not to laugh and Mirage is busy studying Joey now that there's
a lull in the conversation.
The best translation for Vision's reaction would be '!!!!'.
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
He smiles and returns to 'normalcy' looking back at Joey. He opens his mouth like
he's about to say something, but pauses, noticing the relative silence, so he blinks
and looks around like he missed something. When his confused gaze meets Kanga's
he shrugs. He does however notice a slight shift in Joey's energy, a little more...
concealed... like he was trying to hide it, as if emberassed. He makes a mental note
and waits for the various conversations to continue before he says what he was going
to tell Joey...
Posted by The group on 9/21/2001
Joey blinks at him, his normally not to bright expression sharpening to one of intelligence.
Then as if suddenly realizing that this was a bad idea, it fades back to this normal
expression.
Kanga studies him closely. She had been around him long enough to know that Joey’s
intelligence fading in and out was a sign of discomfort and occasionally danger.
Kat has resumed her conversation with Mirage, chatting happily. The young teen gets
along a lot better with her middle sister.
Mirage meanwhile senses somethings up and draws Kanga into the conversation.
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
He notices the change in expressions, and senses another shift in energy with intense
interest and is thankful to Mirage for the distraction. He decides to act carefully
becaue of the way he sensed Kanga react, so he changes tact "Have you ever seen
a girl around here by the name of Talon?" his friendly curiousity seeming to
change the subject.
Posted by Joey on 9/21/2001
Joey seems relieved by the change in topic. He stops to think for a moment. "Nope,
I don't think I've met Talon. Why?" He looks curious now.
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
"Well, it would take too much time to tell the whole story, but in short,"
he pauses, this was going to be difficult to explain, so he sort of opens up his
mind to the young teen, letting him 'see' what he remembered as he told the basics
"My foster sister" here a memory of Fantim the way he remembered her...
but then it shifts to a memory of what he saw of her when she died, then much later
when she agitated Vision... He shakes his head and trys again "She had a sister,
a twin..." here a memory of the image Fantim had given him of the two babies
being stolen separately... then another memory burst in, of when he rescued his 'sister'
and Talon... he looks troubled "Well, I'm trying to find her." he continues
to look faintly worried, but his mind is still open to the youth, so he could tell
that it wasn't from the memories, but from the way they kept surfacing, almost out
of his controll...
Posted by Joey on 9/21/2001
Joey blinks, more then a little confused. "Oh." Is all he can say. Meanwhile
someone is radiating a calming aura. It sure doesn't feel like Mirage, who blinked
and looked up the moment it started.
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
He looks confused, casting about for the source of the calm. It had to come from
somewhere... he glances at Mirage again, eyes black, but when he see's she doesn't
know either is curious, his ever-questioning mind searching for an answer.
Posted by Joey on 9/21/2001
It shuts off abruptly, leaving even those who have no telepathic or empathic abilities
puzzled. Whoever was doing it had a good deal of expirence.
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
Now he's even more confused and curious. His mind is shut off from everyone now,
with the exception of Vision, as he puzzles over the strange mystery.
Posted by Joey on 9/21/2001
Vision meanwhile is watching everything with a feeling of amused curiousity.
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
He shakes his head as if shaking from a trance and looks out the windows and around
the room again, his gaze finally coming to rest, again, on Joey with a helpless curiousity.
He really disliked it when things eluded his thinking.
Posted by Mirage on 9/21/2001
Mirage, not liking the sudden silence tries to start up the conversation again. "So..."
She can't think up a subject and trails off.
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
He smiles at her attempt, but can't really come up with much conversation material
either. He thinks things over, wishing that Vision were here to share his thoughts
more clearly, and perhaps help out the thinking.
Posted by Mirage on 9/21/2001
Mirage looks outside, it's starting to get dark. Paradox would probably be dropping
by soon. As soon as she finishes that thought there's a thunk on the roof as a heavy
form lands. Mirage grins, right on time....
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
He hears the landing and smiles with Mirage. He really wanted to come, didn't he?
Posted by Various on 9/21/2001
Paradox drops to the street from the roof and strolls in. After all, there was no
one in the diner that hadn't seen him before, right? Wrong.
Kanga nearly has a heart attack, jumping into the air and landing on the table, all
of her short fur standing on end. Startled Kat snarls in surprise. However neither
of these reactions top Joey's. He looks utterly panicked for a moment. Then standing
in a flash he steps in front of the rest of the group. He would be shielding them
with his body if Paradox fired anything. The intelligence is back and he looks more
serious then anyone had ever seen him.
Mirage’s grin slowly fades as she studies Joey puzzledly, hurt by his reaction.
Paradox is more then a little confused. He hadn’t thought that there was anyone in
the diner that hadn’t seen him before. He was used to fear at his appearance, but
most of the time people just ran or fainted. Joey was scared, Paradox didn’t need
to be an empath to know that. He had to give the guy credit, trying to protect the
others even if he was frightened.
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
He blinks, more startled by and curious about Joey's reaction than anything else.
He watches the usually dull looking teen with some facination as the intellegence
he had shown before returns. A flicker on the edges of his sense...
Posted by Various on 9/21/2001
Paradox raises his hand in a type of 'hello' gesture. Joey winces as if he's about
to be fried by lightening or some other horrible fate. The demonic looking mutant
studies him, still confused.
Mirage looks hurt, she had thought Joey was a better person then that. Here he was
standing in front of them acting all heroic like Paradox was some sort of monster.
She's about to make an angry comment when Kat speaks up.
"Eesh, Paradox! Don't do that! You nearly gave me a heart attack... And look
at poor Kanga!"
The roo mutant is standing frozen on the table, fangs bared. She echo’s Kat’s previous
comment. “If you ever do that again, cousin, I promise I will do something very nasty
to you.”
Mirage’s comment is forgotten. “Cousin?!” Kat turns to stare at her friend.
Poor Joey looks more confused then ever. The silver haired teen looks betrayed for
a moment, then resigned, then startled, then confused.
Vision meanwhile is watching this all through the link, partly amused but mostly
confused.
Posted by Genesis on 9/21/2001
He is about as clueless as Mirage, or anyone else for that matter, about the cousin
part, but more understanding (maybe because of his age and understanding) of Joey's
reaction. He stares at Kanga and looks back and forth between her and Paradox.
Posted by Various on 9/21/2001
Paradox studies the silver haired teen for a moment longer. ~ Hello?~ He says cautiously
ignoring Kat and Kanga for a moment.
Joey goes completely red and sits down at the table without a word looking embaressed
beyond belief. There’s also a hint of relief.
Mirage looks back and forth between Paradox and Joey looking extremely annoyed. What
was with that boy?
Kat meanwhile is studying everyone equally. She’d never seen Mirage angry before.
She didn’t think that that her other sister got angry very often. Mirage was almost
as scary as Vision when she got angry but she didn’t have quite the same sense of
menace around her. For the young teen it was an interesting expirence. To have that
type of anger directed at another person. Absently she wondered what she was like
when she was ticked off.
Kanga is looking from Paradox to Joey and back again. She was probably the person
that knew the two the best. It was strange, she’d never seen Joey like this before.
Putting her hands on her hips she demanded to know what that was all about.
Paradox shruged helplessly. He didn’t have a clue. Joey just turned redder.
Posted by Genesis on 9/24/2001, 7:05 pm
He watches, ever the curious observer. When Joey had stod protecting them, he had
felt a peculiar surge in his energy signal. Now, after Paradox and the others had
confirmed his relative safety, it had returned to normal. It was particularly interesting,
because it coincided with an equally strong surge in the strange sense he had first
felt about the boy. Very interesting...
He almost laughs at Mirage, but thinks it wise to keep such comments to himself.
Instead, he smiles at the scene before him, and wonders curiously what Kanga had
meant by calling Paradox cousin.
Through all of this, he relays information to Vision, and wonders what she thinks
of the whole mess.
Posted by Various on 9/24/2001, 7:15 pm
Still annoyed Mirage sits down hard in the booth.
Kat turns to raise an eyebrow at Kanga. "Now what's this about demon boy being
your cousin?"
Paradox snorts at her for this comment.
Kanga just shrugs. "He's my cousin, what else can I say?"
Joey goes stiff and worried again at the demon comment and then relaxes again.
Vision is somewhat annoyed that she's missing everything. Watching through a link
was okay, but she'd rather be there.
Posted by Genesis on 9/24/2001, 7:23 pm
He chucles at the response from Vision, and also takes a seat. After a few seconds,
he decides to create a few more 'specials', so he takes out his small leather pouches
and pours a measured ammount of each out onto his palm. He's still listening to everything,
but he needed something to do. One can only observe so long without taking a break
to analize.
He looks up from what he's doing only a moment, glancing about the diner to see wht
everyone else is up to, then looks back down at his hands, now cupped together as
if he were holding a butterfly, and concentrates. Bright blue light can be seen between
the cracks of his clasped hands, and his eyes go black.
Posted by Various on 9/24/2001, 7:29 pm
Mirage is still glaring at Joey, but she stops to watch what Genesis was doing.
Joey, who looked like he was trying his best to disappear into the floor also looks
up.
Kanga and Kat argue quietly and Paradox stands uncomfortably in the middle of the
floor.
Posted by Genesis on 9/24/2001, 7:36 pm
After a moment or so he stops. His eyes return to bright green, and the light fades.
When he opens his hands, a seed about the size of a peach pit, sits in his cuped
hands instead of the dust that had before. He smiles at it and turns it around to
make sure it's perfect, then tucks it away safely in his pocket. He moves to start
another one, but pauses feeling eyes on him, and looks up at Mirage and Joey. "Mmm?"
he murmers curiously and smiles vaguely at them. He sounds almost like he's half
asleep, somehow comforted by the use of his talent.
Posted by Mirage and Joey on 9/24/2001, 7:40 pm
Mirage watches carefully, more then a little curious.
Joey too is still watching, he's gone almost as spacy as Genesis has.
Posted by Genesis on 9/24/2001, 7:48 pm
He almost laughs at the expressions on their faces, and continues to Create a second
'special'. He opens another pouch, and pours just a little more out than he had previously.
He was experementing. A little less of this, and the seed would be smaller, a little
more of that, and it could be stronger... and a touch of that, perhapse faster. He
memorizes the sequence in his mind, thankful for the semi-photographic memory. This
time, he doesn't close his hands, only cups them, and motions for the two interested
veiwers to come a little closer to see better.
Posted by Mirage and Joey on 9/24/2001, 7:52 pm
They continue to watch.
Paradox had joined the chat in the background.
Posted by Genesis on 9/24/2001, 8:03 pm
His hands begin to glow, casting a blue radiance about the room, and reflecting off
his face in an eerie blue aura. The pollen dust in his cupped palms shifts slightly,
seeming to melt. Then a small tendril shoots up, followed by others untill it looks
somewhat like a mass of tiny writhing worms. The thin, hair-like white tendrils wrap
themselves around a common center, and a thin coating grows around them protectingly.
A thicker, smooth wall forms.
He smiles and the light of his birthmarked palms dim. The new seed sinks back into
the hands it had been suspended over only seconds before. The crackling energy in
the room dissipates as he releases it from his concentrated controll.
Genesis smiles broadly and looks up at Mirage and Joey "Shall we try it?"
he hefts the somewhat smaller seed in his right palm.
Posted by Mirage and Joey on 9/24/2001, 8:07 pm
Mirage smiles. "I do the healing thing and the empath thing, 'fraid the plant
thing isn't one of my talents.."
Joey just shakes his head, giving no reason.
Posted by Genesis on 9/24/2001, 8:12 pm
He almost laughs "That isn't exactly what I meant." he holds the little
thing up to the light and examies it carefully "This was an experement. I didn't
use the exact proportions on this little guy that I did on the first one... or any
of them for that matter." he puts it back in his palm and removes another of
the larger seeds from his labcoat pocket "I meant, 'Do you want to see if it
works.'"
Posted by Mirage on 9/24/2001, 8:15 pm
She flushes in embaressment then laughs at her own mistake. "Sure."
Joey also looks sheepish, but nods.
Posted by Genesis on 9/24/2001, 8:33 pm
He smiles and stands, walking around to the back of the diner and then out the door
to the space behind it. He pauses, looking around, then nods and stretches out both
hands, each with a seed in the center of the silvery birthmarks. The marks glow once
again as he calls the energy to him, and the smaller one bursts first, sending out
a long vine. The larger of the two cracks and issues forth a simiar tendril. The
'specals' hover midair above his palms as he and calls more energy to both of them,
causing them to shoot out more strong vines. He pauses and focuses the energy on
the larger one. It explodes with activity while the other remains still. He directs
it up the wall of the diner, and across the roof, sensing how fast, how far, and
how capably strong his creation is. After a few seconds he nods and calls back the
'special'. It instantly reverses growth and returns to it's protective shell. "Not
bad," he comments "About the same as every other, I think." he nods,
satisfied, then calls out to the second one, the experiment. It reacts to his will
with a burst of energy that seems surprising. He calls it to him, then directs it
up the wall as he had the first. This one, however, pauses in it's ascent. His brow
furrows with thought and concentration, and the thing quivers. He tilts his head,
and the vines move to the side. Raises his hand and they cling more feircely to the
side of the building. He stops, and they calm.
"That's strange..." he glances at Mirage out of the corner of his eye,
"Do you feel something?" and looks back at the grown 'special', his eyes
no longer black. He wasn't sure, but he thought he felt the glimmerings of...
Posted by Various on 9/24/2001, 8:40 pm
Everyone files out to watch. Paradox moving more cautiously then the others, he didn't
want to be seen.
They all watch as Genesis works his magic. Kat 'ooh' ing when the first one crawls
up the wall.
Mirage pauses, reaching out. "I don't think.." She trails off there, having
felt just a hint of...something.
Posted by Genesis on 9/24/2001, 9:00 pm
He nods and looks back to the vine. The beginnings of... a will. It had to be. But
a sensient plant? He searches again, but his mind wasn't as strong as Mirage's. He
couldn't feel a thing now. He sighs and raises his hand to the special 'special'
and calls energy to him, beconing for the vines to move once again. It shudders,
clinging to the wall, then reluctantly reliquishes it's hold and moves a little when
he calls all his power to bear on it.
Very strange. Usually they naturally turned toward the energy flow. This one however...
He trys again. It was getting harder; if he didn't call it back now, he has no idea
what it's capable of. He gestures for Mirage to come closer "C'mere..."
he lays one hand on the smooth surface of the center vine. It reacts. He pulls away.
It's awareness was growing. Soon... soon it could be very close to that tree in the
greenhouse... This was bad. The vine he had created was fast, strong... and possibly
dangerous... He motions for Mirage to place her hand on the vine "Feel. I need
to know it's intent... it won't be like a human... plants think... more slowly. There's
less of a mind to sense, so you have to look closely." he looks a little worried.
Posted by Mirage on 9/25/2001, 6:30 pm
Mirage blinks, a sentient plant?! That was a new one on her. She reluctantly places
her hand on the stem. If it reacted so strangely when Genesis touched it, what was
it going to do when she placed her hand on it? She reaches out, closing her eyes
when she realizes that sensing this sentients emotions was going to be harder then
normal. "So what can this thing do?" She asks while she searches.
Posted by Genesis on 9/25/2001, 6:42 pm
"I don't know, this was an experiment, remember?" he waits for her, keenly
aware that if this plant were to become dangerous, it would be his fault.
Posted by Mirage on 9/25/2001, 6:52 pm
"Oh." She says quietly. "Right." She continues searching out
the plants emotions.
Posted by Genesis on 9/25/2001, 7:03 pm
He waits, watching the plant carefully with both eyes and mind, making sure it has
no chance of harming Mirage while she searches it.
Posted by Mirage on 9/25/2001, 7:16 pm
Mirage continues to search, somewhat amazed by the depth the emotions were at. She
could feel them, way down there someplace, but she couldn't read the emotions themselves.
Finally she reached something. At the moment the plant seemed to be mostly surprised.
She supposed it must be a shock, suddenly becoming a sentient entity. That probably
wasn't going to last for long....
Posted by Genesis on 9/25/2001, 7:29 pm
He holds onto the thing as long as he can, hoping that Mirage will find something
helpfull soon.
Posted by Mirage on 9/25/2001, 7:41 pm
Mirage searches further. Confusion was upmost, but what else is there... She doesn't
get a chance to search further as the plant slaps her hand away. Evidently it doesn't
like Mirage searching around in it's mind. Mirage jumps, more then a little shocked.
Okay, now it was a sentient moving plant.
Posted by Genesis on 9/25/2001, 8:13 pm
He blinks when the plant snaps a vine at Mirage. Uhoh... this was getting worse fast.
He wonders if he has the strength to get the plant back in it's shell before it fully
realizes it's free and takes advantage of it. And if he cant, then what? He tests
the plant's strength, shifting the energy around it slightly. Well, if he caught
it by surprise... Maybe.
Posted by Mirage on 9/26/2001, 6:15 pm
She sends a little wave of calm at it, hoping that her powers work the same way on
sentient plants as they do on humans. It flicks it's leaves at her, as if in annoyance,
but it seems more curious then anything else.
"We can't leave this plant here.." Mirage whispers to Genesis.
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 6:20 pm
"I know, but I'm not sure if I can get it back into it's shell..." he concentrates
on gathering little strands of energy for the task.
Posted by Mirage on 9/26/2001, 6:33 pm
"Well, maybe we could try talking to it." She giggles, having come up with
something strange. "We could move it to my house. I'm sure Vision wouldn't mind.
After all, we got just about everything else unusual. Why not have a sentient plant?
Wouldn't Vision be surprised to come home to that!"
From Vision comes a the mental version of clearing her throat when Mirage calls it
'her' house. There's also a good deal of resignment. There's a bit of amusement when
Mirage suggests that it would be a shock to come home and find a sentient plant.
After all the other strange things that 'followed' Mirage home, why not a sentient
plant? Her younger sister had always been good with animals, in a more normal way
then most mutants.
Joey meanwhile looks completely shocked, and more then a bit warry. Sentient plants
weren't something that he usually had to deal with. Kat and Kanga look on, they're
eyes huge. Paradox is silent, but he looks almost as amazed as the slack jawed duo.
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 6:41 pm
He smiles at the respose from Vision and nods and whispers to mirage "Try. Maybe
you can lead it t your house that way. If talking to it doesn't work, I can always
try one more time to recall it." he looks back at the rather large vine And
if that doesn't work, we're in big trouble...
He takes a breath and looks around the small gathering. Maybe they should back up
a bit... incase the thing turned violent...
Posted by Mirage on 9/26/2001, 6:55 pm
Mirage laughs again. She hadn't been completely serious when she suggested it, but
why not? With all the strange personalities living in that house a sentient plant
wouldn't be all that out of place. She sends another little wave of calm at it, and
the plant waves it's leaves irritably as if it's waiting for Mirage to get on with
it.
"Do you think this thing can walk?" Mirage asks. The plant russtles it's
leaves again at being called a 'thing'. Mirage sends a little wave of apology at
it before continuing. "I was thinking of sending Paradox to go find a large
planter...."
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 7:06 pm
He considers "Well, the way the specials usually get whatever they need to grow
is directly from me... I have no idea what would be capable of..." he stops
to think "Do you remember the way the other ones I used in the simulator moved?
They don't exacly walk, they... crawl. Sort of. And they don't have roots, so I don't
think it'd like being put in a planter." he smiles as a thought hits him "If
you can, try to see if it can understand basic ideas... like protection." he
sends an amused thought to Vision of the large vine as a watchdog (only not) for
her labotatory...
Posted by Mirage on 9/26/2001, 7:24 pm
"They don't have roots?" Well that just threw off everything she knew about
plants! Mirage blinks at him, obviously curious. Then realizing that she's got a
job to do she turns back to the plant. "I guess I should be the last one to
ask!" She adds. From the plant she gets a sense of suspicion , Mirage assumes
that it wants to know what she finds so funny. Absently Mirage wonders how it would
even know what laughter was in the first place. Putting that thought away to ponder
later she goes back to the task at hand, or to be more specific, at mind. She suggests
to the plant that it's not safe here, and that she could move it someplace were it
would be safer. She adds that it that it probably wouldn't get the joke.
Vision chuckles mentally, but in the back of her mind she's seriously pondering the
idea....
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 7:33 pm
He smiles encouragingly at Mirage and senses the plant pause. Well, it was doing
something... which was better than what it had done when he tried to get it back
into it's shell. Much better, because now he could feel a little relaxation... almost
like the vines liked being talked to.
When he gets the reply to his suggestion, he almost bursts out laughing, but manages
to hold it in, incase Mirage needed concentration. It would keep unwanted visitors
out...
Posted by Mirage on 9/26/2001, 7:45 pm
The plant seems to ponder this, Mirage gets nothing from it for a moment expect for
what could be thought of as muttering. The next thing she recieves is a simple question,
why? Mirage is totally floored by this, a plant asking why? She didn't really know
what to tell it. If people couldn't accept mutants, what would they think of a sentient
plant? True, most people wouldn't even notice anything strange unless the plant grabbed
them as they walked by, and this wasn't exactly a busy neighbourhood, but.....
The plant seems to be more confused by this then anything else. It's leaves start
russtling again, possibly from agiatation over what it's getting from Mirage.
Vision sends a picture of a very annoyed Kat hanging upside down from a giant plant
placed in front of Vision's workroom. Then mental chuckles, she was mostly kidding.
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 7:52 pm
He ponders what little information he gets from the plant, then suggests something
to Mirage "You could try telling it that normal people tend to gather in groups
of normal people, while different people also congregate... there's safety with those
most like yourself..." he thinks on the why for a moment, "Also, 'normal'
people (or anything for that matter) don't usually like things that are different
from what they are used to. Mutants, strangers... strange mutant plants... However,
large numbers of people that are different from one another dont usually notice or
care overly much about other's differences." he gestures to Kat, Kanga and Paradox
as prime examples.
Posted by Mirage on 9/26/2001, 7:57 pm
She nods. "This is gona be a mindfull." She mutters cheerfully under her
breath. She relays that all to the plant as best she can. It goes silent on her scale
again, evidently thinking about it.
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 8:01 pm
He nods, also waiting. He is somewhat curious whether or not the newly sencient plant
could understand all of that, but if it could ask why, then it could be prepared
to receive an answer.
Posted by Mirage on 9/26/2001, 8:03 pm
More silence.
Mirage looks at Genesis, wondering if the plant blew a fuse or something.
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 8:06 pm
He shrugs and trys a little energy on it. He positions a little energy pocket near
one of it's tenticles. If it were back to a 'normal', non-snecient special, it would
reach out for the nourishing energy. If not, well...
Posted by Mirage on 9/26/2001, 8:10 pm
Genesis recieved the mental version of a poke. Evidently the plant was still thinking
about it.
Mirage steps back to wait. After all, plants supposedly thought slower then humans...
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 8:13 pm
He smiles and retracts the energy. Hmm... When Mirage moves, he looks around at the
others gathered and for the first time notices the expressions on their faces. He
smiles at the two girls and raises and eyebrow at Paradox, then the other at Joey.
He shrugs and looks back at the plant.
Posted by Various on 9/26/2001, 8:25 pm
Joey and Paradox look embaressed for a moment, then wipe the awestruck expressions
off they're faces. Kat and Kanga continue to stare. Mirage studies the plant.
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 8:27 pm
He almost laughs, and does smile, but the seriousness of the atmosphere keeps him
from much more than that. He turns back to the plant.
Posted by Mirage on 9/26/2001, 8:35 pm
Finally she gets something from the plant. It seems to be another question, How?
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 8:41 pm
He raises an eyebrow. If what he was getting out of the conversation was any kind
of correct, the plant was questoning how it was to get wherever it would end up...
He frowns and sends a mental image of a plant very much like it shrinking down to
the size of a bracelet, then an image of Mirage wearing the plant bracelet untill
she got to the laboratory, then one last one of the plant crawling to wherever it
wanted to stay and be safe.
Posted by The Plant on 9/26/2001, 8:43 pm
It shakes it's leaves at Genesis, it doesn't seem to be very found of that idea.
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 8:46 pm
He shrugs and tries another idea. This time, he sends an image and idea of the plant
stretching from building to building, a little like a worm -stretching and contracting-
untill it go to where they would lead it. He sends a question, wondering if the plant
would go for that idea. They would have to be more careful this way, but if they
stuck to back alleys, places where no one would think to look for a mutant plant,
they'd be relatively safe.
Posted by The Plant on 9/26/2001, 8:48 pm
It doesn't appear to mind that idea, but it doesn't look to thrilled about it either.
Aparently it's waiting to see if Genesis thinks up any other better options.
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 8:52 pm
He considers, then sends a somewhat comical (though he's against it and makes that
known) picture of the plant 'walking' through town, and people running from it like
it was godzilla. He also sends that image to Vision to see what she thought, a half
smile creeping across his features.
Posted by The Plant on 9/26/2001, 8:57 pm
Vision is laughing both mentally and out loud. She obviously thinks it's funny, and
that it might do the humans some good.
Evidently the plant has the same sense of humor as Vision. That seems to be the idea
it likes best. It makes a set wobbly little legs.....
Posted by Genesis on 9/26/2001, 9:02 pm
Uh oh. That was a bad idea. His smile vanishes and his eyes go wide. Well... he looks
around the corner of the diner and sees relatively little people. Atleast it would
only be minimum notice... He takes a step back and watches the plant. Then he sands
another image to it, one that has the plant walking more like a spider, but with
more noodley legs... the tentacles wouldn't do legs very well.
Posted by The Plant on 9/26/2001, 9:08 pm
Genesis recieves a kind of bubbly emotion that reminds one of Mirage's laugh. It
tries to do the spider thing, but fails. Then it tries again.
Posted by Genesis on 9/27/2001, 3:27 pm
He smiles and watches the 'baby learning how to walk,' curious to see if it can adapt
the idea to it's own weaknesses and strengths. He smiles at the semi-familiar laugh
and wonders why it sounds so familiar, untill he finally figures it out and chuckles
softly.
He watches, amazed, as the plant gets it's tentacles in order, and stretches first
one, then another, then another out before it... walking! Well, not exactly walking,
he reminds himself crawling. Now comes the hard part: Leading the spider-plant to
the apartments and into the laboratory it'll be protecting, and keeping it from getting
into too much trouble on the way.
He looks to Mirage and Paradox for a lead, they knew the best (and possibly safest)
way to get there, and maybe Paradox could fly watch.
He was glad it was dark. Very glad.
Posted by The Plant on 9/27/2001, 7:19 pm
It moves around, getting used to it's new form of movement. It's getting better as
it goes along, now it's form of locomotion might be best described as a scuttle or
scamper.
It pauses for a moment, then one leafy tenticle rises over the main part of it's
mass as a kind of periscope. Why the plant decided to do that is beyond Mirage. It
isn't until another leafy vine extends itself and starts swishing around that Mirage
gets it. She breaks out laughing. If you looked at it with a bit of imagination the
first leafy vine became a head and the second one as a kind of tail. The plant seemed
to be mimicking the forms around it. Mirage was more then a bit curious about how
this plant is figuring out what they look like in the first place.
Posted by Genesis on 9/27/2001, 7:41 pm
He smiles at it, noting how quickly it caught on. He also notices the mimicry about
the same time Mirage does, and chuckles. This newcomer was a very quick learner.
He squints a little and his eyes go black as he senses the plants sensory input systems.
Hmm, advanced. Not quite the level of sight, but close. Almost like it 'smelled'
the air currents around objects, and recieved similar information from any plant
nearby; an interesting use of pheremones.
He knew, from his research of certain plants, that some 'communal' vines, such a
tomatoes and green beans, produced pheremones to alert the others in the 'community'
to certain dangers, like an infestation of insects, or drought, or even lack of sunlight.
He also knew that the vines that used signals like this could, infact, act on the
information they recieved. In the case of infestation for instance, they drew away
from the 'scent'...
He didn't know however that any plant could 'see' as this one seemed to be doing.
Very advanced indeed...
Posted by The Plant on 9/27/2001, 7:58 pm
It sends another query to Genesis. A litt image, the same one he sent earlier that
invovled it shrinking down into a braclet, but has left out out everything but the
shrinking bit.
Posted by Genesis on 9/27/2001, 8:02 pm
He blinks and sends another message back ~Yes, you can get smaller...~ accompanied
by an image of himself growing and shrinking his normal specials.
Posted by The Plant on 9/27/2001, 8:05 pm
It doesn't seem to like this idea much, but seems resigned. He gets the shrinking
image again, this time in reverse.
Posted by Genesis on 9/27/2001, 8:10 pm
He's a little confuzed by this one. Did the plant want to know if it could grow again?
He sends questioning feeling along with an image that shows the plant shrinking,
then growing back to it's origional size.
Posted by The Plant on 9/27/2001, 8:19 pm
It's 'head' vine bobbed. That seemed to be what it wanted to know.
Posted by Genesis on 9/27/2001, 8:24 pm
He nods back and trys to search for what the plant was planning. Did it need him
to shrink it, or could it shrink itself...? He wasn't exactly sure, so he waits for
any kind of sign from the vines.
Posted by The Plant on 9/27/2001, 8:30 pm
The plant seems to want to make sure that if it shrinks it will be able to get back
to it's normal size.
Posted by Genesis on 9/27/2001, 8:35 pm
He smiles and pulls a seed from his pocket and waits for the plant to notice. When
he's got it's attention, he grows the special a little, then shrinks it, then grows
it nearly the size the Plant is now, then shrinks it back to it's seed, then grows
it again, then returns it to it's shell once more.
Posted by The Plant on 9/27/2001, 11:03 pm
That seems to answer it's question. It goes still, aparently waiting for something.
It doesn't look like it's able to shrink itself.
Posted by Genesis on 9/28/2001, 5:57 pm
He smiles and sends a little energy it's way to shrink it down to a more managable
size.
Posted by The Plant on 9/28/2001, 6:15 pm
When it's finished shrinking it scitters up Genesis's body to perch on his shoulder.
It seems quite satisfied to sit there.
Posted by Genesis on 10/1/2001, 6:55 pm
He glances at it, one eyebrow raised, and an image of how interesting this must look
pops into his mind... he's heard of pirates with parrots on their shoulders, but
this was rediculous!
A slight grin sneaks over his features, but he was still too worried about the little
thing to become overly relaxed. He glances at Mirage "Well, shall we take it
to your place?" he also sends the question along to Vision, since she was the
eldests sister after all.
Posted by Mirage on 10/1/2001, 7:23 pm
She's trying very very hard not to laugh, but she's not doing very well. Little snickers
that she tries to repress keep escaping her control. The plant turns it's vine 'head'
to look at the mutant.
"Aye aye, Captian!" Says Kat. After all, it was her house too. At least
until Vision decided she was too much trouble and threw her out.
Mirage just can't keep a straight face after Kat's comment. She breaks out laughing,
but realizing that this is a fairly serious situation she calms down pretty quickly.
Vision smiles, glad to see her sister laughing. She had been way too quiet since
getting out of the lab. She sends her assent to Genesis, along with a comment along
the lines of "It's Mirage's pet so make sure she cleans up after it."
Posted by Genesis on 10/1/2001, 7:39 pm
He makes a face at Mirage's amusement and Kat's comment, then softens and even grins
at Vision's remark. "She says that you can keep it as long as you clean up after
it." he accents 'she', so it's fairlt obvious who 'she' is... except maybe to
Kat and the others who don't already know that he's established contact with Vision.
He reaches up to stroke the much smaller plant, and it responds, leaning into his
hand. He smiles at it and then his eyes widen.
The plant seems to be purring!
Hmm, he considers the possibilities, and figures that the thrumming is produced by
a small vine tapping against a psuedo-leaf stretched thin over a hollow... a little
'drum' of sorts.
Posted by Various on 10/1/2001, 7:50 pm
Mirage grins, it was an old joke between the two sisters. She blinks as the plant
starts purring. "Now where did it pick that up from? Can't wait to see what
it picks up from the cats..

He almost laughs "Could be very interesting." and turns toward their home
"Shall we?"
Posted by Mirage on 10/1/2001, 8:12 pm
"Most definetly!" She nods. "Let's go."
Posted by Genesis on 10/2/2001, 6:56 pm
He smiles and turns to go back through the diner, back into the light from the darkening
outside sky. He is a little curious about what the plant would think of light, so
immediately after the night time atmosphere.
Posted by Mirage on 10/2/2001, 10:34 pm
She starts off, heading towards Vision's house. Then she realizes that no one else
is following her. Paradox, Joey, Kat and Kanga are all standing staring. She turns
to look at them. Joey mutters something about having to go, and disappears into the
alley. Paradox, Kat and Kanga follow sheepishly.
Posted by Genesis on 10/4/2001, 3:02 pm
He smiles and follows Mirage.
Posted by Mirage on 10/4/2001, 7:37 pm
She walks along, lost in thought. She looks back occasionally to see if everyone
is following. Paradox has disappeared, but she knows he's simply taken to the air.
Kat and Kanga are walking a short distance behind, they're hoods up. It obivous that
they're pretending that they don't know Mirage so that they don't get her in trouble.
The duo are the target of glares from some of the people on the streets.
Posted by Genesis on 10/4/2001, 8:14 pm
He feels a little sorry for the two behind them, and wishes that he could change
it somehow. He sighs, then returns to Mirage, striding beside her like a protective
older brother.
His lips quirk slightly into a tiny smile at that thought, and he raises a mental
eyebrow at Vision, wondering if she'd 'heard' it.
Posted by Vision on 10/4/2001, 11:07 pm
There's a startled flick of her ears that actually comes through the link. She doesn't
really know what to say to that comment, so she pretends she didn't hear it.
Mirage meanwhile, can't help smiling. Ever since her younger brother had disappeared
she had wondered what having a brother would be like. Her friends at school said
they where nusciances, but she still wondered. This could be interesting.
Kat and Kanga follow along behind silently, taking it quietly. Kat looks niether
left nor right and completely ignores everyone else. Kanga is another matter. One
can see that she's very close to blowing her top.
Posted by Genesis on 10/5/2001, 5:01 pm
He hopes they get to their destination quickly, for the two girls' sake if nothing
else. He's only somewhat aware of their situation, but his mind isn't half as stong
as some others, like Mirage.
He grins suddenly at what comes through the link and glances at Mirage. He's had
a younger sister, but she was nothing like the girl at his side. Kayli had always
been, well, boistrous. She was the kind of girl that had to be heard, no matter what
it was she was saying. The center of every croud, voted most popular her last two
years of school. Mirage was (or atleast seemed to him now) nothing like that. He
liked her, if not as a sister, then as a friend. He felt very the same way about
Vision... with a slight difference..
All this flitting about his mind while they walked the little way from the diner
to Vision's building. He sudden;y realizes he has no idea what their last name is.
He blinks in surprise, wondering where in the world that came from, but it was there
none the less. He might ask Vision, but unless it was something like 'Smith' or 'River',
she would have a difficult time in conveying it through their restricted long distance
connection. He tries anyway, asking through the link, and providing the image that
best describes his last name... A green man. He smiles at that image, and wonders
what Vision would think of it.
Posted by Various on 10/5/2001, 5:55 pm
Genesis revieves a metal version of raised eyerbrows. She chuckles slightly at the
thought, she's green and he's Greenman. She ponders for a moment, finally sending
a picture of a little valley.
Posted by Genesis on 10/5/2001, 8:29 pm
He thinks on that for a moment, curious. Could it be another word for a valley, like
Glen, or could it sound like a valley... He ponders a moment, then sends a little
question feeling, then he pauses considering, and sends a picture of him asking Mirage.
Posted by Vision on 10/5/2001, 11:40 pm
She agrees he ask Mirage.
Posted by Genesis on 10/6/2001, 4:57 pm
He smiles and turns to Mirage, his eye fading from black to his normal bright green
again as the close, speaking connection to Vision was put off to the side "Mirage,"
and he realizes that he doesn't know her real name, only the callsign. He files that
away to ask later and continues his first question "I know this sounds like
a strange thing to ask, but what's your last name?" He waits for an answer,
wondering if Kat knew her real last name yet. A small smile creeps across his face.
Another unaswered question that will probably have to wait, but that's okay; he was
patient. Besides he didn't want to overwhelm the girl with his curiousity.
Posted by Mirage on 10/6/2001, 7:02 pm
She smiles, realizing that he must have asked Vision through the link and she was
unable to provide a picture that answered it. "LeVali." She says quietly.
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 3:28 pm
He chuckles quietly. Little valley. An amused sigh and a shake of his head, and he
returns to the present. They were nearly there, and he wondered where the plant would
stay, and how it would react to it's new envronment.
Posted by Various on 10/8/2001, 3:45 pm
Kat and Kanga take a detour into an alley just before they reach the building. Anyone
with good hearing might be able to pick up the woosh of large wings as Paradox dives
on Kanga, picking her up.
Kat just goes up the side of the building. Moving up the side like Spiderman. By
the time Kat reaches the roof, Kanga has already been dropped there by Paradox. She
looks rather tramitized by the expirence of being snatched up by her muscular cousin
and depositted on the roof.
Meanwhile the dark mutant is already disapearing through the small door on the roof
that leads to Vision's loft apartment. It wasn't all that safe for him to remain
out in the open long.
Mirage and Genesis take a much less exciting path to the apartment, by the stairs.
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 4:31 pm
He smiles when the two disappear down the alley, and follows Mirage upstairs. He
keeps a close 'eye' on the now small plant on his shoulder, incase it decides to
do somehing strange in the new envronment.
Posted by Various on 10/8/2001, 4:48 pm
Mirage opens the door and steps inside. Kanga, Kat and Paradox are waiting inside.
Kanga's looking around like she's never been in a house in her life.
The plant seems to be looking around curiously.
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 5:33 pm
He smiles and steps inside, then look to Mirage "Shall we?" and indicates
the door to the study the little plant would guard. He also asks the same of Vision,
just in case.
Posted by Mirage on 10/8/2001, 5:36 pm
She nods stepping towards the door.
Vision sends an affirmative.
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 5:53 pm
He smiles, reaching out to the little plant with a question feeling, he wanted to
know if it was comfortable here. He followes Mirage to the study and waits for her
to open the door, removing the tangle of vines from his shoulder.
Posted by Various on 10/8/2001, 5:58 pm
Mirage hesitates a moment before opening the door. It still felt wierd to be entering
the workshop without Vision, even if this was the second time in less then a day.
The plant almost seems to be too interested in looking around to answer. It skitters
up Genesis's hand on it's multiple legs and continues to look around. When it finally
'answers' it's hurried, like it can't even take the time to reply because it's so
busy looking at everything.
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 6:07 pm
He chuckles and tours the plant around the room for a quick survey.
He wonders, then asks both Vision and Mirage for their opinions on how big he should
grow the plant... semi-permanently, to fit the room it will inhabit/protect. He didn't
want to make it so big that it'll be a hindrance rather than a help, but he also
didn't want to leave it as a little tarantulla-sized thing either.
Posted by Mirage on 10/8/2001, 6:11 pm
She thinks for a moment. "Maybe the size of a large dog?" She suggests.
From Vision Genesis recieves the old picture of a giant plant holding a rather annoyed
looking Kat in it's coils. There's an impression of a evil grin, then a slightly
revised version. A plant roughy that's roughly the same size as Kat, who is standing
a short distance away from it.
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 6:16 pm
He cocks his head at the differing opinions, then asks Mirage "How big?"
and holds his arm down and out, his hand paralell to the floor indicating height.
Posted by Mirage on 10/8/2001, 6:18 pm
She holds her hand just a little below her shoulder.
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 6:29 pm
He considers "A very large dog." He compares it to the image that vision
sent, and shrugs. Close enough. He then puts the question to the plant, asking if
it's ready to grow, or if it wishes to invesigate on it's own first. Meanwhile, he
accumulates enough energy for the growth, just in case. Enough for it to be a little
larger than what Mirage suggestes, a tad smaller than Vision's image.
Posted by The Plant on 10/8/2001, 6:33 pm
In answer to that it scampers off Genesis's hand and disappears through the door
that leads to the rest of the house.
Mirage chuckles. "You should have seen the one my parents used to have, it was
a monster..."
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 6:42 pm
He smiles after the scurrying plant, then turns curious eyes to Mirage "Oh?
Was it a Great Dane, or... something else?" He was unsure, animals never having
been his best subject.
Posted by Mirage on 10/8/2001, 6:43 pm
She shrugs. "I don't really know what it was... Some kind of monster mutt I
guess."
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 6:46 pm
He chuckles a little at the image that pops into his mind at that remark.
Curious now what the little plant is up to, he searches for it's energy signal with
his mind. He wonders what it could get itself into in such an... interesting house.
Posted by The Plant on 10/8/2001, 6:54 pm
It's scittering towards the workroom very fast. It speeds into the workroom, skids
on the slick floor and crashes into the far wall. Rhiow and Saash are hot on it's
trail. When the two cats see that Mirage and Genesis are in the workroom they stop.
Saash leaps into Mirage's arms and Rhiow bounds onto a worktable.
~ Caaaass!~ Comes the pitiful meow from Saash. ~ What is that thing?!?~
Rhiow remains silently perched on the table, unwilling to let the little plant out
of her sight.
The plant meanwhile untangles itself and hops onto Genesis, perching on his shoulder.
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 7:08 pm
He laughs at the sight of the cats chasing his little creation, and sends a quick
image along to Vision. He chukles again at the plaintive mew ~It's a protector for
your people.~ he tells her, holding out his arm with the plant perched atop it like
a parrot. he doesn't speak cat, but a universal language, anyone and anything can
understand. Especially the plant on his arm.
He quests toward it, asking if it's ready now to assume it's household size, and
shows an image of how big it'll be up to everyone else, including the two cats.
Posted by Various on 10/8/2001, 7:18 pm
Saash turns to blink wide eyed at Genesis. ~Really?~ She looks at the plant again,
curious. She jumps when she sees how large the plant is going to be. ~Isn't that
kind of large? The fluffy tabby comments nervously.
Rhiow looks indignant. ~ That overgrown houseplant?!~
One gets the impression that if the plant could hiss, it would at that comment. Although
it probably doesn't know what a house plant is, Rhiow's tone is anything but flattering.
It sends Genesis an affirmative. It seems like the plant wants to get down and box
Rhiow's ears.
Mirage pets Saash to calm her down, peering down at Rhiow disaprovingly.
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 7:28 pm
He only smiles at the cats ~Well, it has to be able to guard against just about anything...~
The plant's reaction makes him chuckle, but he's a little warry for Rhiow, even if
she did provoke it's righteous outrage. He tells the little think to climb out onto
his palm and hold on (partly to make the energy giving easier, mostly to keep it
away from the cats for atleast a little while). This done, He slowly enlarges it,
pouring out energy untill it's about a hand shorter than Mirage. He lets it figure
out how many tentacles it wants (but does suggest not too many). When he's finished,
he sets it down on the floor, removes his hand and steps back a pace.
Hmm, it might be a good idea to let it know a few rules soon... Just in case.
Posted by Various on 10/8/2001, 7:38 pm
~Oh.~ Is Saash's reply to that comment. She continues to watch the plant cautiously.
~It won't hurt us, will it?~
"Well, I don't think it'll hurt you, but I'm not too sure about Rhiow."
Mirage says dryly.
The little plant skitters down Genesis's arm and perches on his palm. Mirage get's
the feeling that it's scowling at Rhiow. The cat looks up at the plant coolly, completely
undisturbed.
As it grows it drops from Genesis's hands to land on the floor. It remains tall and
skinny for a moment, then it compacts on itself, trying a new form. Some of the vines
double up on themselves, others triple or even quadrupel on themselves creating a
thick trunk. When it's finally done a fairly good representation of a cat stands
and shakes itself off, looking smug.
Rhiow begins to look a bit more nervous at this.
Mirage laughs. "Wow, now I have a cat that matches my fur!"
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 7:55 pm
He's fairly surprised at the transformation. He didn't know it could do that... Then
again, it was a sentient plant after all. It could possibly do whatever it wanted.
he smirks slightly at Rhiow's reactions, and wonders what's comming next.
Off in a side corridor of his mind, the question arises 'Can it have claws?' and
unconciously searches for possibilities. Maybe thorns, like a rose... Yes, that was
the best option. That done with, his corridors become quiet once again, then spark
to life with another curiousity 'Whiskers?'
All of his thought process take but a lightning quick second, and he sits back to
wait and see what the plant comes up with.
There goes another curiousity 'Name it? Name a plant? Sure. What name? Call it what?
Plantie? No. Something more... exotic...' He dwells on that a bit longer than the
other quick questions, this one a little more difficult for his scientific mind to
handle as quickly. 'A scientific name? No. Something in another language?' a pause
'Perhaps...'
He talks to himself with less that words, less than images, more like the most basic
(and quickfire) ideas.
Posted by Various on 10/8/2001, 8:08 pm
Mirage looks down at it, asking it if she can pick it up. The plant agrees so she
does so, it's heavier then she thought it would be. Gently she examins one of it's
paws. It's amazing how much detail the plants but into it's new form. Little thorns
that poke out of the plants 'paws' give the plant very real looking claws. Looking
at where it's eyes would be if it was a real cat, Mirage is surprised when it blinks
at her. The plant is pulling small vines above and below a larger vine gives the
plant the ability to blink. Curiousity satisfied, Mirage gently puts the plant down.
She's somewhat shocked when Saash jumps from her shoulder to investigate the plant.
She creeps towards it cautiously, ready to jump back into Mirage's arms if the plant
looks like it's ready to attack. The plant studies her just as curiously as she studies
it.
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 8:13 pm
He barely contains his mirth at the true cat and plant cat invesigating one another.
The plant seems almost as curious and wary of Saash as she is of it.
Mutual respect is a good thing. Now where did Rhiow get off to... ?
Posted by Rhiow on 10/8/2001, 8:20 pm
Is still perched on the worktable. She's glaring down at both of them now. She doesn't
appear to like the fact that a plant is immitating her species.
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 8:23 pm
He turns his guffaw into a cough and turns away from the annoyed Rhiow, relaying
at the same time a picture of what's going on now to Vision.
Posted by Rhiow on 10/8/2001, 8:26 pm
She turns to glare at Genesis. Finally she stalks down the table and disappears through
the door. Mirage breaks out laughing.
Vision too is laughing. Rhiow really needed to learn to have a little fun..
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 8:39 pm
He chuckles freely now, and sighs shaking his head after the cat.
In the back of his mind, he seems to have reached a decision concerning the plant.
An old, unknown people that he ran across once doing feild work in the jungles of
South America was very fond of plants. They almost worshipped them, but for the 'Mother
Love' of their religion. He didn't quite remember the specifics, but he seemed to
remember a shape shifting demon that, once invited in to ones home, could do no harm
to ones family, but outsiders often met a painful demise if they entered the families
home un-invited. He searches his memory for the name of the creature, then remembers.
Green Leaf in their native tongue... CiinOissa. Perfect. He offers the name to Vision
for her approval before voicing his idea aloud.
Posted by Vision on 10/8/2001, 8:42 pm
Her eyebrows rise. That was certainly an interesting name, it fit too... Sounds good
to her..
Posted by Genesis on 10/8/2001, 8:46 pm
He grins and tells Mirage about it, including the background story.
Posted by Mirage on 10/8/2001, 8:53 pm
Her grin gets wider and wider as she listens to the story. "Sounds good to me....
Now all we need to do is see what the plant thinks of it!"
Posted by Genesis on 10/9/2001, 2:54 pm
He laughs "You get to tell it then, I can't get a good enough connection..."
he smiles ruefully "I may be best with plants, but I was never good with minds.
About all I can get though the link are the simplest pictures and feelings; nothing
near as complex as telling a story."
Posted by Mirage on 10/9/2001, 5:17 pm
She smiles ruefully. "I'll try, telling stories to plants is a little new to
me.." She concentrates for a moment then lanches into her narative. A few mintues
later Mirage is all done. "I'm not to sure how much of that it got..."
Posted by Genesis on 10/9/2001, 6:12 pm
He keeps his minds eye on the mental state of the plant, soon to be called CiinOissa,
he reminded himself. Throughout the telling, he'd sensed curiousity, intrigue and
some happy emotion he couldn't quite put a name too. It was a pleased feeling, closest
to gratitude or acceptance, but something else... almost like something it had lost
somewhere was just returned to it...
He blinks in surprise, curiouser and curiouser.
Posted by Mirage on 10/9/2001, 6:27 pm
She studies the plant thoughtfully.
~ So what'd it say?~ Asks Saash, breaking the silence.
Posted by Genesis on 10/9/2001, 6:51 pm
He tries to explain, then looks at Mirage helplessly. He never was good with words.
Instead, he transmits the feelings he got from the plant, and grins, changing it
in his mind from 'the plant' to CiinOissa, Green Leaf.
Posted by Saash on 10/9/2001, 6:54 pm
~Oh! ~
Posted by Genesis on 10/9/2001, 6:57 pm
He laughs. The plant starts purring again, now completely natural sounding, since
it's comming from a 'cat'.
Posted by Mirage on 10/9/2001, 7:07 pm
She chuckles.
Saash looks at the leafy green feline, faintly disturbed.
Posted by Genesis and CiinOissa on 10/9/2001, 7:30 pm
The real cat's reaction to the plant cat only makes him laugh harder. CiinOissa doesn't
seem to know what all this mirth is about, so it cocks an ear, flicks it's tail and
wanders out of the room to finish it's exploration of the premises.
Posted by Mirage on 10/9/2001, 7:36 pm
She starts laughing too. "Well, that was interesting!"
Posted by Genesis on 10/9/2001, 7:50 pm
He raises an eyebrow and chuckles after Ciin.
