News 11/08/02 The 45s are officially no more. Matt Hales is now Aqualung, Ben Hales is now starting a band called Bench, and Matt VB and Stephen will be doing various things. The Aqualung debut album will include writing credits of both Matt VB and Ben, hooray! Go to The 45s Official Website for the full story. 01/08/02 More news on Aqualung - Aqualung does not only have a release date for his debut single, but also for his debut album! Also called 'Strange and Beautiful' the album is due for release on the 30th September. A video has been shot for the track, so expect that one to be on The Box soon! There is interest from none other than the Ministry of Sound to use the track on a compilation album - presumably one of their 'chill out' albums. It's all looking good! 19/07/02 Aqualung has a record deal!!!!!!!! The single will be released on September 16th on B Unique Records. This is what it says on C4 Teletext this morning: 'Aqualung's single Strange and Beautiful, currently used on the VW Beetle ad, will be out on September 16. Aqualung is London composer Matt Hales, whose work has also been used to advertise Mitsubishi cars and at the Tate Modern gallery in London.' 23/06/02 The mystery continues... 'Strange And Beautiful' was apparently written by Matt Hales and Kim Oliver (Kim being Matt's wife and also Buki from Bad Girls) Aqualung is apparently definitely just Matt Hales Still no news of a record deal But still more and more people declaring their love for the track every day! It can currently be seen in cinemas before Spiderman! 10/06/02 All of you are wondering as much as me what's going on with that VW Beetle advert, so here's what we know so far: The track is supposedly 'Strange And Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You)' by Aqualung (which seems to be just another name for Matt Hales/The 45s The 45s are still without a record deal, and thus for the time being there is no release date for the track or anything. However, with the attention this ad is attracting it seems to me that The 45s MUST get a record deal soon and any record company NOT trying to snatch them up is gonna miss out on something pretty phenomenal.
