I
have come to the conclusion that one of the most serious and least
recognized problems we face in overseas missions is that of
proliferation of cults...

One
of the least perceived and most ignored challenges now facing the
Church is that of cults on world mission fields. Aggressive,
well-funded, and deceptive cults and aberrant sects pose a present or
potential danger in virtually every place the gospel is preached --
from the industrialized nations of the west to the developing
societies with emerging languages.

Our
worship as well must be governed by a right thinking of the Trinity.
We cannot rise to the heights of praise and adoration unless the
Trinity of God is first deeply embedded in our hearts. This vibrant
truth will inflame the coldest heart, stir up numb souls, and revive
the dead church. Indeed, history shows that when there is spiritual
awakening, the doctrine of the Trinity is put to the fore.

I
knew from my research that some UFOs turn out to be IFOs (identifiable
flying objects), such as weather balloons, mirages, hallucinations,
LSD trips, and hoaxes (fake pictures). But there are many sightings
that cannot be identified. Further, the characteristics of UFOs, as
investigated by credible scientists like the late J. Allen Hynek,
manifest properties that cannot be credited to anything known to man.
It is the latter in which we are interested.
I
believe that UFOs are real (provided you allow my definition of
reality). I believe thet are from an occult or paranormal source.
Hynek believed this. Vallee also believes this. My research has led me
to a further conclusion, and that is they are evil.

Watchman
Nee has been, and still is, held in high esteem as a spiritual leader
with deep insight. Yet his theological position is deeply mystical.
[Dana] Roberts is certainly correct when he says, [in Understanding
Watchman Nee, p. ix], that Nee's books continues to influence the
interpretation of the Bible in evangelical circles. Unfortunately,
they have been significant force in the growing mysticism in the way
many interpret the Bible. However, rarely does one hear a voice of
caution when Nee is mentioned. In fact, I find many sincere Christians
shocked and offended when I suggest that Nee's writings should be read
and scrutinized carefully for major errors. Yet, as we shall see
directly, Nee is often far from mark. Nor is his mystical theology
innocuous. It has already born some tragic fruit.

Democracy
has never flourished in Arab nations because of the religion of Islam.
Thus the more "secular" an Arab nation becomes, the more
"democratic" it becomes. The highly secularized Egypt is an
example of this phenomenon. But whenever Islamic fundamentalism
regains dominance, the nation is plunged back into the "dark
ages" of seventh-century Arabia. Iran is a recent example of what
happens to a nation when a the Islamic clergy take over the
government.

The
increased activity of false teachers is one of the signs that we are
living in the last days. The Church of the living God is being
attacked by false teachers from without and from within. many sincere
Christian people are deceived by ministers within the Church who pose
as ministers of Christ.

Just
as bank tellers need a thorough knowledge of legitimate currency in
order to spot counterfeit bills, so Christians need a thorough
knowledge of the Bible in order to spot bogus religious teachings. How
grounded are you in the Scriptures? How deep are your theological
roots? How capable are you of detecting false teachings?

These
religious teachers [cultist] have traveled the world over, sowing the weeds
of their false teaching. The Philippines has proven to be fertile soil
for these seeds of untruth. The Bible clearly warns us to be aware of
these cults, and to stand firm against their teachings. We also
believe that there are many who can be convinced of the error of their
ways, if we know the truth and how to share it.

The
more one knows about the beliefs and practices of the cult whose
member he is trying to win to Christ, the more effective his witness
is likely to be. You dont have to become an expert in the theology
of a particular cult in order to reach someone caught up in that
group. But if you dont understand what the cult believes, it may be
difficult for you to present an effective witness.

The
fact that many immature Christians have been deceived into joining
this group [Local Church] does not mean that the Local Church is
close to orthodoxy, but only that it has become a clever counterfeit
of the truth. Although we cannot pass judgment on the souls of the
Local Church members, we can pass judgment on a number of Local
Church teachings, which are not biblical. The Book of Acts describes
the type of situation we find in the Local Church: Even from your
own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw
away disciples after them (Acts 20:30).

The
choice is therefore between believing in the true God as he has
revealed himself, mystery and all, or believing in a God that is
relatively simple to understand but bears little resemblance to the
true God. Trinitarians are willing to live with a God they cannot
fully comprehend.

There was a
time when only specialized Christian missionaries needed to be able to
defend the gospel of Jesus Christ against the attacks of Islam. Today
every Christian has an opportunity and obligation to present the
gospel effectively and in Christian love to the Muslims who have
permeated our Western society. When your neighbor, your mechanic, your
favorite basketball player, your employer or employee, or even your
childrens friends could very well be Muslims, the need for proper
understanding and an effective Christian witness is abundantly clear.

It is
excellent that we support foreign missions and send the light of Gods

The
New Testament teaches us that there is one God and that this God is
three distinct persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and
that these persons are co-equal and co-eternal. This is also the only
possible interpretation of the Nicene Creed as it was intended by its
authors. Therefore, the doctrine of the Trinity as taught in the
Nicene Creed is an accurate representation of the teaching of the New
testament.

The
most important lesson Penni and I learned since leaving the Jehovahs
Witnesses is that Jesus is not just a historical figure that we read
about. He is alive and actively involved in every Christians today,
just as he was back in the first century. He personally saves us, and
leads us. This personal relationship with God through his Son Jesus
Christ is wonderful!
