I bet your wondering how THE CHUCKAS got together. Well your probably not really wondering but ill let you know anyway.Me (matt-guitar,vocals) and my good friend Alrand (drums, lyrics) were both huge punk rock fans who had wanted to start a band for a while. What we were going to do was have a band where i played guitar and Arland sang. So all we needed was a drummer. Well that never worked out. Arlands birthday was coming up and i said "hey you should get drums for your birthday". He agreed that getting drums would be a good idea. So a month later he had a set of drums and we had a band, but what to name it. Since wed been planning the band for a while we had many ideas, but none of them really stuck out. Then we rememberd one that we liked THE CHUCKAS!! It just has a ring to it. If your curious as to what it means its an old kind of shoe vans used to make. The suicide machines sing about em' in the vans song. Anyway all we needed now was a bass player. We turned to our friend Ryan who at first said hed do it. Then a couple days later he said he couldnt. So we then went to our friend and fellow musician Joe who plays bass and sings in the potatoheads (i used to play bass for the potatoheads until they kicked me out-which is cool, im happy with the chuckas) So Joe was with us at our very first practice. Our first song we played together was "mommy can i go out and kill tonight?" by the misfits. We sucked so bad. But we slowly started improving. Then we started writing songs. Our first song ever was "Fix it". I still think its one of our best-even though they all suck. We played our first show with the Psychotic Squirrels and the potatoheads. Joe was still with us. It was a fun show but we really sounded awful. Then Ryan came back to us and said that he could play bass with us so he became our new bass player. About 2 weeks into the band we recorded a split with the potatoheads. We were out of practice and i lost my voice. The way we see it-most bands first recording is bad-this is ours. Anyway were still rockin out and playin shows. Weve played with lots of really cool and talented bands, and hope to continue to do so. We hope to record our first full length within the next 4 months. |
