THE END - A Garage Band

Martin, Baz and Alan

A TRUE Garage Band! The End - Martin, Baz and Alan - rehearsing in Martin's garage. It was very cold in there, that's why they're wearing those rather dodgy looking jumpers!

Martin and Baz

This was before they had microphone stands, that's why Baz is singing into a microphone hung from a ceiling rafter!! Alan's mic was attached to a snare-drum stand (as can be seen in the following pictures!).

Martin and Alan

Martin and Alan playing their Juno 106 synthesizers. Alan is wearing headphones for some reason - maybe his ears were cold! Notice the snare-drum-microphone stand!!

Baz

A view of Baz from Alan's perspective - very arty!

Alan"

Alan singing something - or maybe spitting something out!

Martin

Martin, the garage owner, and not too popular with his neighbours.

The above pictures were taken before Andy joined the band. They were banned by the council from playing here because the neighbours complained about the pounding bass drum from the little drum machine (a DR110 in case you wondered - see The Equipment). So... they started playing in the garage across the road instead!!! Happy days... although it probably wasn't for the neighbours. Who cares - that's Rock 'n' Roll baby!! The first time Andy turned up to rehearse with The End, a police officer was actually taking a sound measurement outside to check if they were officially a noise nuisance!!

Press play to listen to The Face the first ever recording of The End live in Martin's garage. Be warned though it's a bit rough round the edges - the song not Martin's garage!
