SAM 8 is a flying organization. We conduct contests for old-time and antique free flight and R/C assisted model aircraft at Hart's Lake Prairie, Spanaway, Washington, just south of Tacoma. SAM rules apply, check here. Nostalgia classes and Special Events are also often held. Near the foot of Mt. Rainier, HLP is on the grounds of Ft. Lewis Army Base. The flying area most often used is approximately 2 sq. mi. of unimproved ground. See the Photos page for examples .

Contests are coordinated with the Army yearly, with monthly events from the Misery Meet in February 'til the Autumn Thrash in October being the desired schedule. Dates are subject to change, so if traveling any distance please call the contest CD or an Officer to confirm.

SAM 8 meets for lunch and fellowship on the second Thursday of every month at 11:30 AM at the Rainbow Café in Auburn. Demos every odd month.

SAM 8 membership is open to all. Cost is one year for $15 or two years for $25 and you get the newsletter off of the web site.  If you want the newsletter in hard copy it is $25 for one year or $45 for two years.
