Amazing Spider-Man #430 synopsis

the plot: The Carnage symbiote has bonded with the Silver Surfer, and memories flood back to it of how the Surfer, while still the herald of Galactus, brought the devourer of worlds to the symbiote home world. Spider-Man tries calling the Avengers for help, but being unable to reach them takes on the Carnage Cosmic himself, while Cletus Kasady is dying of stomach cancer, and how the symbiote is the only thing that can keep him alive. The Surfer lets the symbiote rebond to Kasady in order to save the villains life, but places him in an unbreakable etheral shell, while Robbie Robertson resigns from the Daily Bugle to spent time with his wounded wife.
