Pretzels

This is one of my mother's recipes and like all of them, short, sweet and to the point. :-)

1 pkg yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1 cup milk, scalded then cooled
2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3 1/2 to 4 cups flour

Mix above ingredients, let rise 1 hour. Shape into pretzels, let rise 30 minutes. Boil for 2 minutes in 2 quarts of water with 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Brush with egg mixture (1 egg beaten with 1 teaspoon water). Sprinkle with course salt. Bake until crust is golden brown. Oven 370 degrees.
