East El-Hussaq Independent
On October 4, 2001, President El Cid II of East El-Hussaq unilaterally declared independence from Rattanjeetland following the fiasco over Kamostopol. The statement sent shockwaves in the Adiposia where deputies protested loudly over the action and many prominent journalists in Rattanjeetland advocated for war. After days of deliberation, the Ethnarch issued a press release whereby he acknowledged the declaration of independence under the Consulplatz Treaty.
However in his release, the Ethnarch strongly denounced East El-Hussaqi actions in Kamostopol and its historical aggression. Such language sparked anger in East El-Hussaq as many of its citizens felt betrayed by their once staunch ally. The general hostile atmosphere prompted President El Cid to publish a release of his own. The words used in both press releases are indicative of the sudden deterioration of relations between East El-Hussaq and Rattanjeetland. Analysts are split as to whether the bad blood is temporary or enduring.
