Peace at Last
Hell in the Northeast Resolved

After months of uncertainty, anxiety, and war, the northeast has finally returned to a state of peace. On January 30, 2002, the Prime Minister of Gorditas, the Ethnarch of Rattanjeetland, and the Supreme Viceroy of Lindsholm formally ratified a peace treaty that would put the War of the Three Great Powers to rest. Unnamed at the moment, the treaty is known in Jared as the "Treaty of Disappointment".

However, many are surprised at the the lack of territorial transfer. In fact, some have called the treaty an attempt to turn back time as the nations of Buenos Altos, Meijing, and Vaticon City are restored while Rattanjeetland is not required to cede any land. Instead, a 5% military cap is imposed on the Ethnarch for a period no longer than six months. The Ethnarch is also limited by new political reforms designed to enhance Adiposian powers for roughly eight months. In addition, Rattanjeetland cedes its entire treasury to Gorditas and Lindsholm as economic reparations.

The most important clause of the treaty involves Rattanjeetarr decolonization. Like political reforms, for about eight months Rattanjeetland is forbidden from having any protectorates. In the meantime, GX officials have moved into Buenos Altos to administer that nation as a mandate. On a side note, Novaran representatives are in the streets of Jared celebrating the return of SPQH troops from Buenos Altos after their nation formally joined the Hanseatic League on January 30th.

Although a relic from the past, the Congressional Northeast Committee is still continuing its work. The Secretary-General's Office has stated that the committee's findings should be released alongside the opening of the Congress of Jabourgh in the middle of February.
