General Conflict Erupts from Wendorran Invasion of Nemangrade

Without warning or declaration of war, the Republican Empire of Samchorage opened fire on the Republic of Kamograd on the evening of July 7, 2001 as a result of the Kamograd issuance of an ultimatum to Wendorra la Vella. Before Kamograd had a chance to react, four devastating electromagnetic pulses had destroyed most of Kamograd's biochemical weaponry.

Immediately following the beginning of hostilities, the Republic of Lindsholm declared war on Samchorage and fired a barrage of missiles, destroying most of Samchorage's military capability on the ground and in the air. While reacting to the surprise Lindsholm attack, Kamograd managed to coordinate its secret militia, organized in peacetime and in accordance with the Riksholm Treaty. The Lindsholm attack on Samchorage was the result of a secret defensive alliance between Lindsholm and Kamograd, signed in peacetime.

While Samchorage proper recoiled under the Lindsholm attack, the President of Samchorage decided to use his power over Rattanjeetland, which was given to him by the Ethnarch in case of conflict, as stated in a secret arrangement made during peacetime. Attempting to keep Rattanjeetland as a backup to Samchorage, the President successfully ordered the evacuation of a grand base in Rattanjeetland Terra Nova, so as to minimize casualties if that structure was hit.

Meanwhile, another barrage of Lindsholm missiles destroyed the Samchorage elite forces base. By this time, however, Samchorage managed to get back on its feet and fired a devastating electromagnetic pulse at a classified Lindsholm facility, destroying it completely.

The Republic of Gorditas then announced support for Lindsholm and sent spies to capture a Samchorage military installation in Samchorage Prime. Emboldened by Lindsholmian and Gorditan support, Kamograd launched a major ground offensive into Samchorage Metropolis/Prime. Without a significant military presence, Samchorage Metropolis/Prime fell to Kamograd with the bodies of Samchorage patriots littering the streets.

The collapse of Metropolis forced the President of Samchorage to use the firepower of Rattanjeetland in the war. A barrage of Rattanjeetland missiles successfully penetrated elaborate missile defenses in Lindsholm and partially destroyed the Lindsholm North Superbase, hindering air capability. Damage was slight and much less than hoped. With this in mind, the President decided to launch the Confederate Army against Lindsholm.

Confederate troops in Rattanjeetland, Samchorage, and Josephville merged to create an attack force in their Primes while those of Miketon and East El-Hussaq merged to create one in Terra Nova. Natharctican troops were successfully transported, across Nexus airspace without Nexus permission, to the Rattanjeetland-Samchorage-Josephville bloc. Novaran troops would attack alone on the western Lindsholm border.

Using the Steel Glider for lightning fast transport of troops, Lindsholm troops and conscripts repulsed the three-pronged attack. The Terra Nova initiative failed miserably, as did the Novaran offensive. The Rattanjeetland-Samchorage-Josephville-Natharctica force was wiped out by a force 80 times its size. When the Confederate offensive ended, the entire armies of Natharctica, Novara, Josephville, and East El-Hussaq were destroyed. Consequently, these nations automatically surrendered.

The President of Samchorage then ordered a widespread conscription campaign of Samchorage citizens. Nearly every citizen in free Samchorage, that is, parts of the Empire not occupied by Kamograd, enlisted and a massive offensive against Lindsholm Prime was launched. The Samchorage attack force numbered 545,031. However, due to the conscription of Lindsholm citizens and the efficiency of the Steel Glider, a defense force numbering 1,383,787 was mounted before the Samchorage troops crossed the border.

Fighting was intense and many lives were lost. Casualties on both sides crossed the hundreds of thousands but when the dust had settled, Lindsholm emerged victorious. With the bulk of his military spent, the President of Samchorage formally issued a statement of surrender for the Republican Empire of Samchorage.

Nevertheless, the President of Kamograd ordered a massive conscription campaign, reaching an armed force total of over 1,000,000, fully in compliance with the Riksholm Treaty. Simultaneously and independent of the conscription development, the Ethnarch of Rattanjeetland formally declared neutrality in a press release on July 8, 2001.
