One of the lessons learned of FBX 2155532Ø was then need for fast-reaction, independent duty capable platforms; The delay of a few hours for the ill-fate 9THFleet to arrive MAY have been all the time it took for the insurgents to set up their secret weapon (still not fully identified).
With an eye to preventing this in the future, the Spacy invested a great deal of time and effort into developing a new breed of Fast Reponses vsls; Originally, the ALLIANCE-Class Fleet Picket was looked at, but the design was simply not powerful enough to survive on it’s own. From these experiments, however, the AZONIA LAPLAMIS-Class was derived.
The AZONIA-Class can get underway, fully loaded, in as little as SIX HOURS, and be on-scene in as little as 8, with a LARGE battle force capable of marinating a modicum of control over an area of about 1,ØØØ² miles. At all times, at least ONE of these vsls are underway in each sector (group of between 3 and 1Ø systems), ensuring full-time response ability. while not capable of evacuating much of anything beyond another ship, the AZONIA-Class CAN secure a foot hold, and DELIVER relief workers to an area stricken by disaster.
The AZONIA-Class’s only major drawback is endurance; They can only effectively remain on-station, unaided, for about 1 week before a re-supply effort, at minimum, becomes required. However, they’re only intended to remain on-station for 3 to 4 days without a relief effort, including, if necessary, a full Battle Fleet, from arriving.
The vsls were conceived with the ability to carry Ø2 B-1Ø4 Galaxy Bombers (carried like big bombs) and up to Ø4 ROIL TILUVO-Class Assault Shuttles (though Ø2 is the norm) along the sides of it’s long, neck-like hull, stern-in (to allow ease of loading/unloading and launching).
It should be noted that the AZONIA-Class really ISN’T able to do much more than protect itself from fighters, for which they also carry fighter; Becasue of this, the ANDROMEDA-Class was re-activated as the PRIMARY defense vsl. An AZONIA-Class races to the scene of the emergancy, and within a few hours after arrival, an ANDROMEDA-Class with her attendant ALLIANCE-Class Corvette SHOULD arrive to ensure anyone having thoughts “contrary” to the UGC intrests develop new opinions on what they might want to do with their lives.

1. T’sentrædi Style Heavy Laser (Ø2): Still a highly effective design, it is an REF standard weapon throughout the fleet.

    95% reliability (24% against unfriendly stealthed vehicles).
  • Blue Force Tracker: Identifies friend from foe. Overlays the information on both the radar and
    HUD, ensuring that friendly forces are not accidentally targeted.
  • Anti-Jamming System: Reduces Electronics Countermeasure by 25% (decrease skill level appropriately).
  • GPS: Standard tracking device. Ties into the Blue Force Tracker.
  • HUD: Displays maps, radar, targeting information, and any OTHER information the wearer
    wants directly in front of the user. One is located at each weapons control station, and another makes up the majority of the bridge.
  • FLIR/SLIR: Forward and Side Looking Infrared. Allows pilot to get visuals on targets at night.
  • Virtual Map: Displays a continuously-updating map of local terrain for the bridge.
    Takes data from and gives data to other friendly units in the area. Effective navigation of 85% as
    updates come. Good to 5ØØ miles. Specific range can be adjusted in 1Ø,ØØØ mile increments.
  • 1 MC: Internal loudspeaker.
  • Video Camera: Records from the HUD. 5,ØØØ hours of recording available.
  • Full range optic sensory suite: Infrared, ultra violet, Magnification, night sight, color filters, thermal imager.
