NPCs : Summary of Act 1

The Lord Earl Manong (Detailed Profile), and his Vizier Toberin

Represent the most active of the King's enemies. The Earl through Toberin has hired us to find the exiled Prince Archydor who it is hoped will form a point of unification for the unaligned Hemro aristocracy against the King.

The King Voulon (Detailed Profile Here)

The King is widely disliked by the people and untrusted by the aristocracy but still in control of the taxmen and the army. He has started a war with neighbouring Belondale, supposedly about control of the rich mountain mines but probably equally much as a distraction to keep his enemies otherwise occupied.

..and his assasin Dagon

An unknown quantity, he has impersonated a hunchback, killed Fabian with magic and now rides west to kill the Prince. He may have also have hired the Drakes to hassle us? And who was slain in the great Eastern Forest by the ever humble Chelon Rose mercenaries.

Gunter Krieger and the Burgonese (Belondalese)

Gunter Krieger is a wealthy Burgonese sugar trader whose business has not been hurt by the war and whose patriotism to Belondale is well known. He and the Belondalese elite wish to keep Hemro from uniting under the exiled prince because a fractured but war-like Hemro is viewed as preferable to a powerful and united one which they think could never be peaceful for long.

Master Bunter and his Dwarves

Are examples of both the common folk and most other Traders in both countries who would see an end to the war (and therefore an end to the King) because the war wrecks trade and also imposed higher taxes on what trade is left.

Master Bunter himself is well known to Hal and Hal's family, coming from a Dwarven mine near where Hal was born. He can get through the frontlines if necessary probably because niehter side in the war wish to piss of the Dwarves who otherwise don't take sides.

Joroth, our man in the swamp

One of the not so common common folk. Joroth can, for a price, find out almost anything and get the same. He is based in a stall on Rabbit Is. in the swamps bordering Palace.

Act 1: We have since found out that Joroth is a man of many many talents. He has all along been one of the top spies in King Voulons secret services, however he was also, and for even longer, an agent for Queen Margot. Additionally he is a member of the Tiepans thieves guild and maintains his front above, as a black-marketeer on Rabbit Is.

As soon as war was immenent he became a military scout and aided our kidnapping of King Voulon.

Act 2: Joroth continues to be a multiple-agent working for the Queen, King Archydor and who-knows else. He does however seem to be loyal to Hemro above all else. He employs Pip to do his dirtiest deeds and the rest of us see him little these days.

Fabian's friends

Malane and the other survivors of the explosive re-appearance of Fabian continue their lives and may be slightly well disposed to us once they become aware of the true nature of our mission and work on their dead friends behalf.

The Drakes - exassasins

Formerly this group consisted of their leader Quince, Munce the muscle, Melany the poisoner and her younger brother. Now just the siblings survive, the others victims of the terrible street crime found in Palace these days, hehehe.

However we mist watch our backs lest for some reason these two decide to revenge their fallen. Joroth keeps an ear out for their whereabouts.

Baron Milston (Detailed Profile Here)

An ally of the Earls he demanded very publicly to hear our allegiance and our mission and we were told to agree with him if we met again.

Tiepans (see also Thieve's Guilds)

Whom we suspect of being behind the smuggling of Fabian into Palace for the play. They may therefore common enemies of King Voulon and possible future allies but have proven very hard to contact.
