Fact File 7: Kingdoms (see map)

The kingdoms of Erden are too numerous to describe in this short fact file.

However, there are a few which might be well known enough to the characters to warrant a mention.

* Hemro: The game begins in Hemro. Ruler is King Voulon.

* Belondale: (sometimes called Ballon). Hemro is currently at war with Belondale over the Castle Crag mines. Ruler is King Braun.

* Nebra: Once a great Empire, at one time Nebra unified the central kingdoms of Erden. Now it is a culturally influential but militarily weak kingdom. It survives by forging political alliances. Ruler is King Usher.

* Sarkon: Sarkon is a relatively small kingdom with limited influence. However it is the gateway to the west coast and has much passing trade. Ruler is Queen Margot.

* The Indigo Empire: In ancient times the Indigo empire was vast, encompassing much of Erden, west and east. Similar in some ways to the Roman Empire, the Indigo Empire has left a lasting impression on Erden in terms of civilisation, settlement patterns, religion, currency, engineering and language. The Empire is still powerful and influential, though much smaller. Many in the central kingdoms still look to Indigo for enlightenment. Emperor is Julian the Fourth.

* Carsia: An influential Arabian-like civilisation strong in trade, science and warfare. The ruler is Prince Al-Salb, who is widely respected and known as the Carsian Prince.

* Kingdoms of other races: Human kingdoms currently dominate Erden. Other races tend to live under the rulership of human monarchs or live in environments relatively inaccessible to humans such as mountains and forests. However, there are a number of recognised kingdoms belonging to other races. These include Tull which is primarily Orcish (but many think it is ruled by a human called the Shadow Lord), The Frelick which is primarily Elvish, Mirrorlock which is Gnomish and Aarokocra which is a nation of aloof Eagle-like humanoids. It is worth mentioning that Belondale has a large population of Halflings. Also, the Greenearth Forest is reputed to have large and ancient high-elf population, but many think this myth.
