Coppi...

Coppi the day we brought him home

Coppi – named after the great Italian bike racer Fausto Coppi, il campionissimo – is a Cocker Spaniel/Australian Blue Heeler (cattle dog) mix (not intentional).  He looks a lot like a miniature black lab and even a little bit like a pit bull.  He is a 50-pound bundle of energy, solid muscle, and mischief and has been known to get in trouble on more than one occasion.  Coppi thinks he is "king of the condo".

Our Cats...

We used to have two cats, Dropshot and Rolex.  They were best pals and kept Coppi on his toes.  In fact, because he grew up with our cats, Coppi sometimes doesn't know that he's not a cat (although the cats definitely knew the difference!)  He has certain traits that he obviously learned from the cats and he liked to try and play with them (although not necessarily vice-versa).

Dropshot was named after the delicate tennis shot that John McEnroe (Chuck's all-time favorite tennis player) executed so deftly and with apparent ease throughout his stormy  career.  The source orf Rolex's name should be obvious (although neither one of us actually owns a Rolex).

Rolex became very ill and we had to put her to sleep in 1999.  Dropshot became very ill at the beginning of 2001 and we had to put her to sleep.  Both times, the decision was difficult but the best thing to do for them.  We (and Coppi) still miss our Dropshot and Rolex.
