Karen is from Greenville, Delaware (the "First State") just outside the burgeoning metropolis of Wilmington (where everybody knows everybody and everyone is someone). She is a graduate of the University of Delaware. And yes, she is related to Horace Greeley, but did not follow his advice to "go west". Instead, she moved to Washington, DC (well, actually Arlington, VA) in 1983 and has lived there ever since.
Karen is the Office Manager for Northern Virginia Family Services, a private, non-profit organization, providing services for families in need in the Northern Virginia area. She is also an accomplished cyclist (and a member of Lanterne Rouge) and actually rides more than Chuck these days! Her road ride is a Bianchi Corsa (Columbus Thron tubing and Celeste, of course is there any other color for a Bianchi?) with a Profile Julie RC carbon fiber fork "probably the best [carbon fiber] fork for the money", according to the October 1997 issue of bicyclist magazine. In true Italian tradition, her Bianchi is equipped with Campagnolo components and Scirocco deep dish aero wheels shod with Vittoria tires (she also has a pair of Mavic Reflex SUP wheels built by the renowned CVP WheelWerks!) She used to have a Specialized Rockhopper Comp mountainbike as her commuter bike, but has since inherited Chuck's Bridgestone MB-2.
Unlike Chuck, Karen is not addicted to the internet and the worldwide web, although she has been known to spend hours cybersurfing. Her favorite computer games are Tomb Raider and The Beast Within. Karen at Iwo Jima, our
backyard We'd love to hear from you.
