For the Love of Wolves |
Truly, she do wolves captivate us so? What is it about them that so captivates us? Is there any explanation for the wonder that is the wolf? |

To be honest, wolves captivate us for a reason that none can truly put into words. There's just that something about them that catches us, pulls un into their web. It seems that there's some sort of mystical quality to them, something strange, yet compelling. When you see a wolf, whether it be with you own eyes or on the TV, what crosses your mind? Do think "this is an evil man-killer that must be exterminated"? Or do you think "what a wonderful, beautiful creature..."? I'd say the second. For sure. I've always loved wolves. Wolves have been my favorite animal ever since I can remember. There was just that something about them. A mystical aura about them, the way they seem to be what they are not. The very way they move, the silent lanuage of the body, the different vocalizations, the strange, unknown, uninterpretable intelligence that is there somewhere. You know it; you can feel it, taste is, as if it was a tangible element; you can see if before your eyes, touch it with your mind. What is it? This thought plagues the mind, inviting you deeping into that strange, tangled web. I was caught long ago and have not regretted it once. I fact, I've fallen deeper into that web. Deeper into a layer of heaven. The wolf is a truly amazing creature that we cannot begin to know much about. Of course, there are scientists and researchers out there charting things and doing experiments, but isn't there something missing? Their experiments don't test the things we want to know. What is it about wolves that seems extradimensionary, that seems otherwordly, different? What is it that separates us from wolves? We live in family groups, "packs," just like wolves. We take only one mate in our lives and remain devoted to them (except now there's divorce). We cherish and teach our young, keeping them with us for years and years. We are social creatures who need to be around others, just like wolves. We love companionship. We are compassionate creatures, like the wolves; we comfort one another in times of sorrow and share in each others' joy when things go right. So much like wolves. How are we different - besides the obvious physical differences? Humans rule the world. Humans speak many different languages. Humans are nearly dear when compared to other animals; humans have no sense of smell when compared to other animals. Humans are lazy. No other animal can really be described as truly lazt. After all, in the wild, if an animal is lazy, it will not live for much longer. Anyway, I think I've had enough insulting humans. I'm sure we all know the millions of human short-comings. |
