| Date: December 21 Winter Solstice The Goddess (Mother Earth) gives birth to a son (the sun.) This marks the point in the year when the sun is reborn. Yule is the shortest day and the longest night of the year. Wiccans celebrate Yule by waking before dawn and lighting fires and/or candles with the coming up of the sun as the grand finale.
