Our voices were heard!
In lieu of our protest we would like to ask everyone and their friends to join us for a massive party at the Bluebird tomorrow night. The owner of the Bluebird canceled Buju Banton's concert and we would like to thank him for supporting us and our mission. He took personal financial responsibility for this decision and in doing so put his money where his mouth is, we would like to do the same. So congratulate yourselves and all of the efforts that were made.
See you tomorrow at the Bluebird!
Violent homophobe Buju Banton, a Jamaican Dancehall star, is scheduled to perform at the Bluebird nightclub in Bloomington this Thursday, September 14. His song "Boom Bye Bye" calls for the murder of gay men, and he has been performing this song since 1992. Even after concerts were cancelled in the US and Europe because of protests from the gay community, and even after Amnesty International called for his prosecution for a vicious assault on gay men in Jamaica Please call the Bluebird's manager, Dave Couliak, at (812) 336-3984 and show him that we are not willing to tolerate this kind of violent homophobia and gay-bashing in our community. Remember to act quickly, as the concert is approaching very soon.
