L'ADVERSAIRE
(Nicole Garcia, 2002, France)
No Distributor |
 |
The
movie’s story is so interesting that
there were three similar films release in
the same amount of time. Based on true events,
the film tells the story of a man who has
lived a lie for almost twenty years. And while
Nicole Garcia manages to show a man’s
coldness and selfishness, L’Adversaire
fails to interest mainly because of its exaggerated
length and slow pace. |

An
insult to anyone. This is the classic B-Movie:
so bad it’ll break your DVD player.
But I should’ve known that this one
had nothing to do with Bret Easton Ellis or
the real American Psycho. I’m
so embarrass I watched this. |

This
is easy: the movie is about a bunch of teenagers,
kidnapped in an island where they have to
kill each other until one of them survives.
So... if you’re okay with the plot,
then you may like the movie because it’s
really gory and entertaining. But if don’t,
then, don’t even bother. |

BOMBON
- EL PERRO
(Carlos Sorin, 2004, Argentina)
No
Distibutor |
 |
After
the big success he had with Minimal Stories,
Carlos Sorin wanted to repeat the achievement
with the same formula. And you know how that
ends. Bombon is exactly like the
previous film but this time is duller and
you hardly care about it. |

I'm
sorry for everyone who was involved in this
movie, but this has to be one of the worst
movies I've seen in the last few years. The
scenes are badly written, the dialogues are
even more awful, there’s one cliché
after another and the love story is awfully
predictable. |

It’s
creepy. The movie may have several flaws…
but it’s creepy. That’s what it
offers, and that’s what you’ll
get. And don’t ask for something more.

The
movie’s very delirious and exaggerated
but, honestly, I didn’t mind, because…
I had fun. Don’t take it seriously and
you may enjoy it. |

MIZU NO SOKO KARA - No Distributor
(because a remake is coming) |

The
movie works because it has some scary moments,
avoids clichés and what's more important,
you really empathize and care for the characters.
The relationship between the mother and her
daughter is very tender and that is why you
don’t want them to suffer. And that
is also why the film becomes scarier. |

LA
DEMOISELLE D'HONNEUR
(Claude Chabrol, 2004, France)
No Release Date |
 |
Chabrol
is still Chabrol but, fortunately, Demoiselle
is no Flower of Evil. At least, this
time, the details are important for the movie
and for the suspense. Overall, it has some
flaws but it’s a quiet and interesting
mystery. |

EVIL
(Mikael Hafstrom, 2003, Sweden)
ONDSKAN
- No Distributor |

The
movie may have some important flaws: the film’s
subject has been done before plenty of times,
it’s filled with lots of common places
and it may seem forgettable. But I’d
be lying if I say I didn’t like Evil,
because it never lost the interest. And I
didn’t find the movie pretentious so
that is why you may also find it enjoyable.
Let's say that Evil is a quieter
version of Das Experiment. |
