EL
FONDO DEL MAR
(Damian Szifron, 2003, Argentina)

More like an anecdote rather
than a movie. A night, a man spies another man and...
well, that's all. It doesn't look very exciting,
does it? |

A movie with an incredible good taste: the
music, the set design, and the shots are all
gorgeously crafted with an extraordinary fineness.
And the cast is marvellous, specially Monica
Lopez, Maria Pujalte, Eduard Fernandez and
Vicenta N'Dongo. |

Pathetic,
yes, that's the best word to describe the
film. But I mean it in a good way. Everything
is pathetic: the characters, the situations,
the dialogues. And that is why the movie is
hilarious! Too bad nobody is going to watch
it.
Raquel Bank, Ana Katz and Luciana Lifschitz
give excellent performances. |

Once,
I wrote that the movie was really forgettable.
A year has passed, and I still remember it,
and, what’s better, I still remember
that I liked it a lot. The movie is not the
best thing you’ll see, but I found the
movie really original. The characters and
their personalities are different and likable;
the situations are diverse and amusing and
the movie has some twists too! A really nice
surprise. |
