Debut Album - OUT NOW!Our first album, "How You Gonna Scare Us Now?" was released in the UK and Europe on September 22nd on Boss Tuneage and has been getting great reviews and a generally positive response from all quarters. It's available on CD and heavyweight blue vinyl LP. The CD version has 3 videos on it too in true 21st Century, hi-tech style. The vinyl copy is just plain cool. We're selling both formats at gigs. Meanwhile both Assembly Line and Boss Tuneage are selling them online so go and buy your copy ASAFP. In Germany it's being sold by Flight 13 and in Benelux by Self Made Maniac. In the USA and Canada "How You Gonna Scare Us Now?" is coming out in the New Year on the very wonderful Does Everyone Stare records. It will be available online via their website and at Interpunk.com. If mailorder's your preferred method you'll be relieved to find out that Does Everyone Stare also does mailorder. BiographyAssembled by former Stupids, Sink, Chocolate guitarist Ed Wenn; K-Line continue Ed's tradition for US-influenced, but decidedly British sounding punk rock. Having spent a few years in the mid-90's studio-bound, working on the honed pop-rock of Big Ray, Ed felt the urge to get out into the open and play some fast, dirty punk again. Teaming up with musical lynchpin and buddy Paul Duncan (Sink/Chocolate/Big Ray bassist and Stupids roadie) and ex-Done Lying Down drummer (and long-time acquaintance) James Sherry, they completed the line-up with the pent-up ball of frustration and energy that is vocalist Zac Slack. It wasn't long before these four very different personalities had built themselves a fresh set of songs that drew from their influences (Articles Of Faith, The Ruts, Fugazi, The Who, Senator Flux, Dag Nasty, Black Flag, Rites Of Spring, 3, ATDI etc), but also added an infectious, 21st Century, post-hardcore-rock sound of their own to the mix. After a series of well supported and well received gigs in London, the band recorded an initial demo which not only got great recognition through the fanzine network, also earned a spin on Claire Sturgess' XFM show. Rapidly building momentum, K-Line released their debut single "In The Red" early in 2002 on Boss Tuneage Records and effortlessly chopped out three incendiary, rough-and-raw-punk-rock nuggets. As the gig tally increased the band's seriously energetic live show continued to back up the favourable reaction to "In The Red" and the first taste of national exposure came in the shape of a great single review in Kerrang! and Mary Anne Hobbs playing "Broken Holmes" on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show. Just in time for the recording of the 2nd Boss Tuneage EP, "Lessons Learned" (Sept 2002) the band got a major boost with the arrival of Rich Matthews on 2nd guitar. Long time London scene member and the driving force behind much respected Grand Central, Rich hadn't been in a band in the two years since Grand Central split and was itching to get out on stage and start breaking guitar strings again. His addition to the line-up boosted the energy and the volume of the live show by about 300% and also added an extra dimension to the second studio offering.
As 2003 dawned the band started work on their debut album for Boss Tuneage, finally finishing the mighty "How You Gonna Scare Us Now?" five months later.
The results of the previous 6 months spent writing new songs and playing as many shows as possible can clearly be heard on all thirteen of the high-energy
punk rock cuts. It's a tightly controlled noise-fest that summarises exactly where K-Line are at right here and right now. Featuring guest vocals from
Dead Inside/Hard To Swallow/Wives Of Seth gravel gurgler Bloody Kev and a song-writing contribution from DC hardcore guru Michael Hampton
(ex-SOA/Faith/Embrace/One Last Wish/Manifesto), "How You Gonna Scare Us Now?" is definitely the start of a new chapter in the K-line story.

We'd really love to hear from you. This website has been very heavily 'influenced' by the work of Benjamin Watson who designed the WombatWombat site up in Norwich. Thanks a lot Benjamin - hope you don't mind. K-Line is - thus far at least - a non-profit organisation run and supported entirely by volunteers. |
