The Fourth Rime

From: Evan

The silver and gold lie all over the floor,
But I've no time to get it,
As I dash through the door.
The noonday sun shines directly overhead.
As I run, I'm thankful to be alive
And grateful I'm not dead.
No coins, no clothes, nothing to call my own,
My foolish heart has left me all alone.

The road goes on as far as I can see.
I can't stop now because they might catch me.
The mistake I've made may cost me my life.
My soul must now bear my struggle and strife.
The new day may bring some comfort to my pain,
But I know now that I've lost much
And had nothing to gain.

The mountain peaks rise up into the sky,
While the waterfalls tumble down their slopes
From a place so very high.
I can see the eagles soar through the air.
Oh, how I wish I were with them up there.
Running with incredible speed I continue down the beaten path,
While nature begins to show me its intense wrath.
Many wars have come and gone,
But the battle I must fight
Is to continue my course and carry on.
