The Lord Mayor's Xmas Appeal
Councillor Keith Healey from Cobridge has been in contact with us to tell us that he is making a Xmas appeal, on behalf of the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Alan Jones.
They are appealling for new toys and games (or as good as new), and tinned goods with a seasonal theme (e.g. puddings, salmon, peas, etc), anything to give struggling families or pensioners a good Christmas feed -- or gifts to fill emptty Xmas stockings.
If anyone can donate anything, please ring Cllr Healey on S-O-T 812207, and he will be very pleased to accept your donations, however humble. Alternatively, you can drop them off at ARRO ("Aylesbury Road Residents' Organisation") at 157 Aylesbury Road, and they'll be collected from there.
And finally....
That's about it for this ARRO newsletter. Good luck to Jane Sutton
and Angie (Brookhouse Mums & Toddlers) who are having more
success at Christmas fund raising than we are, and we'll see you all
after the holiday when our New Year newsletter goes out. Happy
Christmas to all from ARRO. Hoping next year is an improvement
on this one.Cheerie bye,
Barbara, Carol, John, Val, and committee.PS Thanks to those who gave donations. They're in hand for next year.
And before I forget, here are the two poems which were included in the pullout:-
- Santa's coming.. -- Poem by Kimberley Jamieson (Age 8)
- Grain of Sand -- Poem by Barbara Jones
