Narrow Box with Wide Lid

My favorite design/dimensions. I have made at least ten of these boxes and they typically play very well. The wide lid seems to add a little extra range to the call's tonal possibilities. This call is approx. 6 3/4" long (paddle 9 3/4") x 2" wide.

Wide Box with Nesting Lid

This call features sides that flare out 1/32" - 1/16" wider than the lid, and rails with a very slight radius that peaks no more than 1/8" higher than the ends/end blocks. This enables the hunter to silence the call by securing the lid to the end block (handle-end) with a band or strap; because the end blocks are high relative to the peak of the sides, and flares slightly wider than the lid, the bottom of the lid does not contact the rails and the call remains 100% silent.
