Distinguished Guitar Makers

Taylor Guitars

Taylor is my favorite guitar maker. They know the secret to blending tone, volume, and beauty into one instrument. Check out the Taylor 910, my dream guitar. It is the ultimate marriage of sound and beauty. Or take a peek at the Taylor PS10, the most beautiful guitar ever built. But more realistically, I can only afford a Taylor 810, which is a great guitar too, but without the stunning beauty, and a slightly different tone. Actually, I just bought one over the summer. I got a great deal, but more than that, this guitar is beautiful to look at and to listen to.

Martin Guitars

Martin has been the premiere guitar maker of America for over a century. Many consider them the standard of acoustic steel string guitars. Check out their Martin HD-28VR, another awesome guitar (though not quite like the Taylor 910).

Santa Cruz Guitars

Sorry, I don't know much about Santa Cruz Guitars. But I know they are a highly esteem guitar maker. They're smaller than Taylor and Martin, but their specialty is in high-end guitars.

James Goodall Guitars

Sorry, I don't know much about Goodall Guitars either, but I think they have a beautiful logo.

Collings Guitars

Sorry, I don't know much about Collings either.

Guitar Retailers

Gryphon Stringed Instruments

Gryphon is a small guitar shop. They specialize in high-end acoustic guitars. They're not the cheapest, but they offer some of the best service in the area. Also check out their dutch auction.

The Guitar Center

The Guitar Center is one of the largest guitar retailers around. They focus more on the electric stuff, in my opinion, but they still offer an okay selection of acoustic guitars. A big plus is that they guarantee to have the lowest prices.

Sam Ash

Sam Ash is another huge retailer, very similar to Guitar Center. They too guarantee to have the lowest prices. So if you plan on buying a guitar, try pitting these two guys together.

Lyon's Music

Lyon's is a medium to large retailer. They seem to specialize in selling Taylor Guitars, since they seem to be selling so many. They also guarantee to have the lowest price; another retail to add to the pitting plan.

The Guitar Base

The Guitar Base is an online listing of tons of guitars being sold by various retailers. You can search for the guitar you want according to its model, number, and year. A lot of the listings include a short description as well as a photo. This is an excellent place to start if you plan on purchasing a guitar.

Guitar Christian Music

1Christian.net

1Christian.net is perhaps the most comprehensive listing of guitar and bass chords and tab for Christian music and praise songs. There are times when the chords and tab are a bit off, but most of them are pretty accurate, and at the very least, give you a good starting point.

Guitar Reference

Frets.com

Frets.com is a site that you should learn to treasure. It is the ultimate guide to taking care of your guitar, playing your guitar, buying a guitar...everything! If you have any questions about guitars, especially high-end ones, this site will likely have the answer.

Ultimate Guitar Chart

The Ultimate Guitar Chart is a great reference if you don't know how to play a specific chord or just forgot how. Check it out. You can also download the entire chart in PostScript or PDF format. Go PDF!

Restringing Clinic

I found the formatting of the Restringing Clinic from Frets.com too ugly, so I just stole the stuff and reformatted. So thank me that it looks good, but thank Frank that it works.

Harmony Central

Harmony Central is a mega guitar launch site that will take you to a large variety of guitar resources, including news, tips, lessons, tablature, ads, etc.  It is definitely a resource that all guitarist should use.

I'll tell you, sometimes I get lost even going
