The Archeology for Gid Project
Developing a better understanding of Gidian principles through repetitive digging

What is the Archeology for Gid Project?

The Archeology for Gid Project is a group of completely unqualified amateur archeologists who just happen to be professional GidDoctors. We intend to prove the validity of the Gidian faith by digging up things which seem relevant to our mutual faith.

What have you already done?

1997 - Quest to dig up Tonlid. Failed after a second reading, more careful, of the Book of Gid, which mentions that Tonlid was destroyed. But we did learn a lot about digging and the removal of earth during the four months we were in the middle of the Sahara Desert which we have been able to apply to more recent digs.

1999 - Searched the Mediterranian for the Temple of Gid. Mildly successful, Martin reckons he 'saw something', but it was quite challenging because we could not afford any of the necessary scuba diving gear, and the Italian Coast Guard sunk our research vessel.

2000 - Went to Greenland to search for the skeleton of the Ice-Monkey. After three weeks of wandering around outside the hotel, we didn't. But we remain firm in our belief that he is out there somewhere.

What is planned for the future?

We hope to do digs in Egypt to find the great city of Nr, and at the end of this year we hope to find the crab colony in Southern Lebanon that Gerwin became so famously affiliated with.

That sounds great, but after all the effort you have put in, have you actually HELPED the Gidian faith in anyway?

That really depends on what you mean by helped. No, we haven't actually uncovered anything which proves any part of the Book of Gid. And no, none of our expeditions have converted anybody to Gidism. But we have had a lot of fun, we've gotten drunk in some of the most interesting places.

Is there any archeological proof for Gidism then?

Don't be so cynical! Of course there is, just none of it we have actually found. Read here.

That sounds Glorious! Can I join the Archeology for Gid Project?

Sure! Send your resume to this address... chissss@hotmail.com, and GidDoctor Chris Thutmoose will get back to you as soon as possible. Remember to put in references, and any other major archeological digs you have heard about.
