We Conned.
We survived!

Saturday.  10:00 am. Writers Workshop.  We had about eight aspiring writers and two editors hosting - Salina Rosen of Yard Dog Press and Stephe Pagel of Meisha Merlin Press, an independent publisher of the "Best in Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror". We discussed writing for two hours and then we each had an hour of private time with both editors. Our very own Shawn Deggans won 1st place in the Bad Metaphor contest with:   “He turned the thought of her over in his mind and watched the grub worms of his heartache squirm to the surface."  DFW Writers Workshop attendees were Shawn Deggans and Alley Hauldren.  ■

The Romance Writers of American NY Conference

Carolyn Williamson attended the Romance Writers of America NY Conference. Twenty-one hundred writers converged at New York’s Hilton Hotel to sample seventy-five workshops, meet favorite authors, garner free books, and if they had completed manuscripts, pitch their novels to editors and agents.

Carolyn ran into Sha-shana Crighton, the agent with whom she had a scheduled appointment.  It paid off when the agent asked to see three chapters of Carolyn's novel, Treacherous Shoals.  However her appointment with Selena James of Pocketbook didn't net any requests.|
