Healthy Eating
Low fat and heart smart, Atkins, Protein Power, The Zone, Sommersizing, Sugar Busters and the list goes on for todays hottest, and best diets and weight loss programs.  If you bought all the books, and tried all the diets, and scoured the internet for information on diets in general; it could cost you a fortune and take you endless hours of frustration just to wind up giving up before you get started!  I have read all the books, and tried the diets, I have scoured the internet for endless frustrating hours so I guess I could be considereed the official guinea pig of dieting.  Personally, I like some of them, hate others, have lost weight, have gained weight back or just gained weight due to it, and finally, I just gave up!  Except, I compiled all my knowledge and experience and trial and error into my own program that has helped me lose weight, feel better, become more physically fit, eliminated my own health problems and allowed me to remain in my budget, feed myself and my family and create harmony for my own personal spirit.  This is why I am creating this site.  To share what I have learned with others who don't want to, nor do they have time or money to invest in all the searching, trying to find what works.
First, let me tell you how it works!  You hear High Protein, Low Carb and you think yeah!  I hate vegetables, I can eat all the meat I want.  Well, it doesn't work that way, even Atkins will tell you that.  You hear Low Fat, heart smart, and you think yuck!  Paper tasting food that gives me portions that only small birds can eat.  Well thats not so true either.  Your body is a fine tuned machine that requires all the components to work.  You must have protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber and nutrients to keep your body in good running order.  If you are overweight, and you are eating properly, you will lose excess pounds.  If you are not overweight, your body then can spend it's energy repairing damage and fueling your body so that it runs at tip top shape.  It's really very simple.  There is no easy fix to weight loss and good physical health.  One must eat to live and not live to eat.  It's a very hard thing to do, but if one changes their habits, eliminating bad habits and incorporating good habits, it all falls into place, sadly not in 72 hours like some diets promise, but over time as your body becomes healthy.
My first rule was to eliminate the word diet!  As soon as I hear the word, or the word is used by me, my mind goes into immediate defense mechinism and I reach for the first bad food to put into my mouth.  I have found that forgetting bad trigger words and instilling positive ideas and words into my new way of life, have really made a huge difference in my goal to attain good health and a positive image.
YIKES!!  DIET???  I can't stay on a diet....
My second rule was to keep a journal.  I know, you are saying who has time for that?  Well, thats just it!  Is it really worth eating if you have to write it down?  That in itself has helped me walk away from a lot of habit eating.  So, I keep a journal, and as time has progressed I've spotted a lot of my problems, worked through a lot of issues and am very aware now of what goes on around me and inside me!
Journals???  I want to lose weight not win a Nobel Prize!
And most importantly, I played with the amounts of foods to figure out what my body needed to run properly without mood swings, or binge attatcks at the cookie jar.  This is where my "plan" begins.  Like I said earlier, I did read all the books and try all the programs and I did find things that I loved about some of them and things that I did not like at all, nor did they work!
What??? Potato Chips don't count as a vegetable?
