Half-LIfe To Support Mouse & Keyboard! |
25/9/01 - Seems PS2 HL will be
supporting the much talked about mouse/keyboard option! I'm sure many will
welcome this as a better alternative to the controller and hopefully more
first-person shooters will start to include it from now on. You'll
obviously still have the usual default controller options but I know what
I'd rather use!
Colin McRae ready to rev back into action! |
14/9/01 - Codemasters has today
announced that they are to release a brand new Colin McRae Rally title
next year. It has been revealed that a team of forty people are currently
working on the project.
The lead car in the game
will once again be the Ford Focus RS World Rally Car and the vehicle is
being designed to feature moving parts and also a realistic damage engine
which will allow the car to be completely destroyed - or merely dented,
depending on how careful your driving is!
"The experience
for players will be closer in every respect to that of Colin McRae when
he's competing for Ford in a World Championship event. - "Martin
Whitaker from Ford.
Finally, Guy Wilday,
Producer of the project promised : "There's two key elements to our
vision for Colin McRae Rally - to continue our heritage of delivering the
very best exhilarating racing gameplay and to create a more immersive
rally experience that players can feel a part of. With these aims we are
confident of bringing something new to the game's genre and moving the
benchmark of 'best rally game' even higher."
11/9/01 - The Simpsons Road
Rage is like a version of Crazy Taxi
with everyone's favourite family added for good measure. As soon as you
begin playing you will realise how closely the environment resembles the
cartoon - if you've seen somewhere in a Simpsons episode then chances are
it will pop up at some point during the game.
The story? Well, Burns is
up to his usual tricks and has monopolised the transport of the city and
so the citizens begin driving taxis in order to put an end to his fiendish
plans.
The Simpsons Road Rage
doesn't just feature Springfield's first family either, all of your
favourites will appear from cynical entertainer Krusty The Clown to the
terminally confused Ralph Wiggum. The voice talent is the same as in the
show and the game even has an original script by Matt Groening!
The game allows you to
play as a number of different drivers with more being unlocked as you
progress further into the adventure. There is also a mode which allows you
to just drive around to your heart's content checking out the scenery.
Watch out for this game in
the near future
6/9/01 - Wipeout Fusion will
have, a whooping, 42 tracks, with seven different environments and three
Ridge Racer-like track variations each, each variant can be raced in both
directions. The tracks are no longer limited, now you can also go off
course, spin around in loops and corkscrews, flip to stick on to ceilings,
and even find shortcuts.
Damage is now visible and it also will affect the vehicle's controls. Also
a note in graphical details, you can see the insides of the vehicles too.
Gameplay wise, it now incorporates a point based system. At the end of the
race you get points that go to upgrade 5 aspects of the craft. There also
seem to be a new game mode called Zone mode. In it, the accelerator is
always on and at each zone your speed goes faster. Only the brakes are
available. It's a score-based game and when you complete it, the game will
spit out a password so that you can enter your high-score into the Wipeout
Fusion Website's world rankings.
There's no word yet on the soundtrack.
But this sounds good enough!
