Everything
about the PS2

A
USB PORTS:
You'll probably recognize
these ports off of your PC. These are where all the neat add-ons plug
into, such as: keyboards, printers and mice. But they won't work just yet
as no games support the USB options just yet. Many people are expecting
Unreal Tournament to be the first PS2 game to support the USB mouse.
What do you think? Let us know what games you think would come in handy
with certain add-ons, maybe you want a Digi Cam for Quake 3....
B
i-PORT:
This is also known as the
"Firewire" or "IEEE1394". It may look tiny, but don't
let looks fool you. This baby shifts huge amounts of data to and from your
digital cameras, camcorders, MP3 players and this is where you link up
with someone else with a PS2.
We wish you luck finding someone!
C
JOYPAD
PORTS:
Just the two ports. Which
means if you want a 3 or more game of ISS or TimeSplitters, you'll need to
get yourself a multi-tap. A bit of a let down considering the Gamecube has
four ports...
D
MEMORY
CARD SLOTS:
Unfortunately, If you didn't
get the Japan version of the PS2, you'll need to buy the quite expensive
memory card. But it is essential for all games. The memory card slots are
identical to the ones found on your PS2, even the little spring-loaded
door!
E
CD
DRIVE:
This is where you'll insert
you PS2 games, PSX games, DVD's, and audio CDs.
Just click the EJECT button for it to open, and click the button again to
close it safely.
And do you want to know how the CD stays in the while the console's
standing vertically? The CD fit perfectly into a groove that holds it
perfectly in position. Sweeet.
F
PS2
SYMBOL:
Okay, it's not really
"New", but the symbol on the PS2 does one thing your PSX
can't...
And that's the ability to spin. May sound a bit dumb, but you can make the
PS2 symbol sit the right way up depending on if you're laying your PS2
horizontally, or making it stand vertically just by spinning it round!
G
RESET
BUTTON:
You'll be using this quite a
lot to play a different game.
One flick of the RESET button will wipe the PS2's RAM and then loads up
whatever game is in the CD drive. If you hold the RESET button down for a
second or so, and the PS2 will go into it's energy-saving sleep mode.
H
EJECT
BUTTON:
Without this, the PS2 would
be pointless. It opens up the CD drive allowing you to insert your PS2
game ready to play.
And
that's about it for the front...umm...it looks nice as well..
