History
This the story of how my comic "The Ghost" and its official website began and why I created them.
History of "The Ghost"
It all started one day when Adam brought in his comic, "Dark Archer". Adam was going to sell each copy for 25 cents and showed it to a few people. We were all amazed that Adam, the king of messy writing, could write so neatly and legibly. As it turned out, people liked it, and before you know it, Adam was making a dandy little profit. So me and a few other people decided to enter the comic business.
We all got the inspirations for our comics from different places. Some got their ideas from real comics, while others got their ideas from real life experiences. Me, I got mine from my experiences with certain people in school. I started my comic in study hall and continued to work on it through classes and rainy days. I wrote it in my old English Reading Log notebook which I didn't need anymore. The comics themselves were on lined paper, but they were easy to carry around in the notebook. I finished the first issue a few days later. Some of my friends wanted to be in "The Ghost", so I put them in as various characters and exaggerated some of their qualities and put in some inside jokes. Characters like Eddie the Hitman and Adam the sleezy hotdog salesman are both examples of real life people put into "The Ghost". Infact "The Ghost" is one big inside joke.
Site History
People wanted to buy copies of "The Ghost", but I knew that I would never be able to make enough copies with the increasing page numbers and all or have enough paper and ink for all those copies, so I decided to make a website and make the comic free and easily accessable for everyone; before this site, I would have to lug my English notebook around to show it to everyone.
I had never made a website before, so I saw this as a good opportunity to learn HTML and get experience with making websites. This wasn't going to be some Subprofile or AOL Hometown crap, this was going to be a decent website. So with a little help from websites, books, and my friend Andrew Wong, I was able to make the first version of my website.
The first version of the site had a black background and used frames for layout. It was decent, but I wanted it to look cleaner, smoother, and be easier on the eyes, so I decided to use tables instead. Learning how to use tables in itself was a very tirsome and frustrating task; one little mistake could ruin the whole thing. But with a little help from HTML books and looking at sites using tables, I was able to create what you see today. This site was made 100% by me with a little help from other sites and people, but all the HTML coding was done by me and nobody else and without using a pagebuilder.
I am still trying to improve and add to the site and the comic. Check back once in a while for updates
If you have any questions or comments or find spelling mistakes or missing pages or whatever, don't hesitate to email me @ theghostcomics@yahoo.comor by signing the guestbook.
I hope you enjoy the comic and the site, tell your friends about it.
Until next time,
Chris
