Traditionally Painted Leaded Glass

These panels are created using a technique that was prominant during the Renaissance and often seen in cathedral windows. Each piece of glass is hand cut then painted with traditional stainer's pigments. These pigments are kiln fired into the glass. Each piece may painted and fired several times to achieve the desired depth of detail. Once the pieces are finished they are assembled into a lead came framework which is then cemented to hold the glass in place. Click on an image to enlarge.
