Produced by BBC Wood Norton, the presenter postcards held at AIRCHECK are featured with this page and associated pages. This was printed on the rear.
Did you remember Ken Bruce weekday mornings 6:00-7:30pm, before Sarah Kennedy? This is Ken back in the early 1990s. Nice bloke - great broadcaster! Ken is now on BBC Radio 2 from 9:30am weekdays.
Did they mean him, they surely did! Frankly, I feel this is where Radio 2 went wrong. Derek Jameson, fresh from the daily papers, really was too much to wake up to and go to work with. When Derek came off the breakfast show to make room for the welcome return of Terry Wogan, Derek moved to late nights with his wife. Who remembers the 10:30pm accapella jingle 'THE JAMESONS'? I can't remember what was worse - breakfast or bedtime!
So with no Wogan during this period - (he was chatting on BBC1), unusually not on a holiday somewhere - Judith Chalmers, weekdays, 9:30-11:00am on BBC Radio 2!
Jimmy Young OBE: still going strong - we love him - as part of the 1990s line up, JY broadcast from 11:00am-1:00pm.
Gloria Hunniford or as Terry Wogan used to call her 'Glorious Hunnybunch' - she spent many years Weekdays 2:00-4:00pm on Radio 2, following on from Jimmy Young Gloria is now presenting daytime telly for Channel 5 but has never really been out of work since leaving. Gloria first started as a news reporter in her native Ireland.
John Dunn was a familiar voice at 5:00pm on a weekday evening - his gentle informative tones were very BBC, not fast moving 'drivetime' style. John retired from the weekday slot some years ago to be replaced with broadcasting stalwart, Johnnie Walker. John has been known to present special programming from time to time.
