Rumsfeld says Syria aiding Iraqi regime Click here to read the whole story. WASHINGTON (AFP) - Senior Iraqi leaders are fleeing to Syria, which is continuing to send military assistance into Iraq (news - web sites), US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld charged as another senior US official warned Damascus to take a lesson from what was happening in Baghdad.
So they’re now laying the groundwork for Syria and Iran. Just as I said they would before the war in Iraq started. Rumsfeld is now hinting that Saddam may have slipped his weapons to Syria and that’s why we can’t find them. So the war to defend America from weapons, suddenly morphs into a war to liberate the Iraqi people.
What do you want to bet that if Bush said from day one this was to liberate the Iraqi people, America wouldn’t have supported the war in nearly the same numbers as supported a war to protect us from terrorists getting weapons of mass destruction from Saddam? Bush lied to the American people again about our safety… got the people good and scared with orange alerts and countless attempts to tie Iraq to 9-11. He did this specifically so the people would go along with a war to PROTECT this nation.
Had Bush said from the start that we had to go to war to free the Iraqi people, most people would have rejected it as sufficient justification for a war. Especially a war where the very same people we are supposedly liberating are the ones we are blowing to pieces.
No, Bush lied to get the American people to spend billions and to accept the Bush doctrine of preemptive attack based on Bush’s decision a nation might someday be dangerous. Gosh sound like another militaristic dictator who came to power under dubious circumstances? A humanitarian excuse would not have gotten the American people to get behind violating international law by invading a sovereign nation to overthrow the government.
If it would we’d have invaded the dozens of other countries in the world that have a far worse human rights records, including several nations Bush lists in his coalition of the willing. We’ve been lied to… and not a lie about oral sex. This is a lie about war crimes, treason, and doing such damage to the reputation of America that it will doom another generation to conflict. Domestically this is a lie that wasted our money, hurt our economy, killed Americans, and divided a nation while making us all less safe from terrorist attacks.
Now Bush sets his sites on Syria and Iran. Will the American people buy it again? How long will people swallow this kind of bait and switch con job? From Osama dead or alive, to Osama is irrelevant. From weapons of mass destruction to liberating the Iraqi people. From Al Qaeda to Saddam, and now on to Syria.
This war is a fraud being perpetrated on the American people, and indeed all the people of the world. Although, in the parts of the world where they still have a media that isn't owned by 6 corporations, they're not buying it. The rest of the world wants nothing to do with this war, because they can see it for what it is, a war for profit and power. Even most republicans I know will admit that this war is not about liberating the Iraqi people... yeah liberating them from what, the inconvenience of being alive? The only thing that Bush wants to liberate in Iraq is that oil. To read the whole story click here. The threat posed by US terrorism to the security of nations and individuals was outlined in prophetic detail in a document written more than two years ago and disclosed only recently. What was needed for America to dominate much of humanity and the world's resources, it said, was "some catastrophic and catalysing event - like a new Pearl Harbor". The attacks of 11 September 2001 provided the "new Pearl Harbor", described as "the opportunity of ages". The extremists who have since exploited 11 September come from the era of Ronald Reagan, when far-right groups and "think-tanks" were established to avenge the American "defeat" in Vietnam. In the 1990s, there was an added agenda: to justify the denial of a "peace dividend" following the cold war. The Project for the New American Century was formed, along with the American Enterprise Institute, the Hudson Institute and others that have since merged the ambitions of the Reagan administration with those of the current Bush regime.
A Decade Ago, Al Gore Helped Clinton Beat Bush 1 With The Truth!Read the whole story at: "In September of 1980, Iraq invaded Iran. Iraq was the odds-on favorite to win the war in short order. However, by May 1982, Iraq was clearly in trouble. It had lost a major battle with Iran. Our policy-makers began to imagine Iran under a radical Islamic government emerging as the dominant regional power: a nightmare. I believe that is why, in February 1982, President Reagan took Iraq off the list of states that sponsored terrorism. By taking Iraq's name off the list, President Reagan opened the way for Iraq to receive US credits through subsidized agricultural loan guarantees and Export-Import Bank credits. In other words, for strategic reasons, the Reagan/Bush Administration would overlook virtually any unpleasant reality in Iraq, and apparently subvert US laws in order to prop up Saddam Hussein's brutal regime."
