Blade's loud style, in your face delivery and somewhat old-school rhyme patterns make his verses immediately recognisable. Possibly the best known of all UK hip-hoppers, Blade has released two gems with Mark B and two very hard to find albums on his own, but has also contributed brilliant verses to the works of The Herbaliser and DJ Vadim. It seems odd that a rapper of Blade's calibre is without a permanent label home, but that is just further evidence that UK hip-hop is thriving without the support of major labels. In fact, the album The Unknown seems partially dedicated to dissing record A&R folk. Hopefully Blade will continue to work with Mark B, whose production is a perfect fit for Blade's style. |
