The Herbaliser is the ultimate marriage of trip-hop and hip-hop.  Starting out as a band, the group played a vital role in the development of instrumental trip-hop.  As they grew in popularity, The Herbaliser became more of a teaming of producers, most notably turntablist Ollie Teeba and band bass player Jake Wherry, as the horn players and other musicians began to take a back seat to guest rappers.  But the best offerings from The Herbaliser are the tunes where everyone is involved, like The Blend, featuring looped horns and Natural Resource rapper What What.  The production aspect of The Herbaliser reached great heights with the release of Very Mercenary, particularly The Sensual Woman, showcasing the wild fluting of band member Andy Ross.  In 2000, The Herbaliser returned to their roots with the release of Session One.  But the full effect of the whole band can only be felt in the live show, which is the most energetic trip-hop show you will ever see.  You can always expect excellence from The Herbaliser.
