Mr. Scruff (Andy Carthy) has released hundreds of recordings on over 30 labels, but it took a full-length release on Ninjatune for him to attain the success he deserves.  Scruff is one of the most creative djs when it comes to picking samples.  His style can be simply explained as wacky, but when you look past the silly sound bits on tracks like Shanty Town and Fish, you find an intelligent, jazzy album punctuated by goofy grooves.  There is not a track on Keep it Unreal that is not entirely funky, whether it's the club favourite Get a Move On or the hip-hop tune Jusjus with Roots Manuva.  But perhaps the best example of Mr. Scruff's talent is his marathon live show.  He has been known to spin for over 7 hours, and he is very discriminating in the records he chooses and even the venues he plays.  The bearded one is truly in touch with what makes a crowd groove.
