October 4th: The guys arrived in Knoxville around 6 in the morning. They stayed at the hotel for a while before heading to the radio station.
"Hey Justin ya ready?" Lance said
"Yeah just a minute." Justin said fixing his hair.
"Are you gonna be allright?"
"Yeah Ill be fine Lance..Knowing my luck she probably wont be there anyway soo.."
"Would that be a good thing or a bad thing?" Lance asked him.
"I wish I knew." Justin said as they walked out the door.
Kaitlynn had started to call in sick that day but she knew the only reason why Bill even got the guys to come there in the first place was because of her. So she couldnt just not show up. She called back and told Jordan that she was going to be running late. She was so nervous that it she was afraid to even drive. What was she going to do? Talk to him as if nothing had happend? She pulled into the parking lot and saw thier tour bus surrounded by teenage girls and decided to go in the back way. As she walked up the steps, it seemed like there were millions of them but when she reached the top she wanted to run back down them. Finally she made her way to the studio..
"You made it." Jordan said
"Yeah barely" She said sitting down. Her hands were shaking.
"Katie I can do this interview by myself if you want.."
"No Jordan I need to do this. I need to see him." Then Bill popped his head in the door.
"Theyll be up in a few...you all ready?"
"Yeah" Katie and Jordan said.
The guys walked throught the door of the radio station and saw Darlene, the new receptionist sitting at the front desk.
"Well Looks like you can breathe for now Justin." Chris said.
"Yeah actually its kind of a relief. Itll be eaiser to see her tonight if shes at the concert." Justin said as they got on the elevator.
Katie sat in the studio trembling. She could hear the elevator doors open and the guys walk down the hall. Her heart started beating fast and she couldnt breathe. Then she turned around. Jc, Joey, Lance, Chris and then Justin walked in. They stood there in shock, staring at Katie as if she was from another planet. Nobody said a word.
"Katie!" Jc said going over and hugging her. "What are you doing here? We thought you left!"
While Katie hugged Jc she was thinking "What is he talking about?? Why are they looking at me like theyre so shocked to see me? They knew about the interview?" Then it hit her. They didnt know she had become a DJ. They thought she was still a receptionist! And that means...Justin didnt know he would be doing an interview with her..Thats when she saw him standing in the corner away from everyone. His bright happy eyes looked tired and cold. He had on a gray UNC sweatshirt and cargos. He just stood there with his eyes wandering around the room. Never focusing on her.

"I umm..Im a DJ now.." She finally managed to say while glancing at Justin.
"You mean youre giving the interview?" Chris said
"Yeah..well me and Jordan are.."
"Oh.." Chris said with a nervouse tone in his voice. "Well hey its great to see you!" He said coming over to hug her. Then Lance and Joey did. Justin slowly made his way over to her and didnt say a word, but he still hugged her. Nothing like he used to though. Katie was sure he did it just because the others did."
"How've you been Katie?" He said softly with his voice cracking
"Im ok..how are you?"
"Good."
The other guys had already sat down by this time and the only chair left was the one directly in front of Katie. Justin sat down in it and started looking around the studio. Trying his best to avoid looking at her.
"Well everybody its the moment youve been waiting for..Nsync is live and in the studio with us..say hi guys" Jordan said.
"Hi"
"HI GUYS!" Chris said. Katie just smiled. Same old predictable Chris.
"Well I believe Sara is on the phone and she has a question for the guys..Go ahead Sara" Katie said. Justin sat there watching her every move. He was so happy that she had gotten that far. He knew she loved what she was doing now. Yet part of him wished that she would just give it all up. He blamed her job for thier breakup..and he hated the fact that he did that. He knew there was a lot more to it than that.

"Yeah I just wanna tell the guys that I love them especially Justin..and actually my question is for you Katie..."
"Oh?" Katie said, scared at what she was going to be asked. "What's your question for me then?"
"Whats it like being in the same room with Justin Timberlake?"
Katie felt her heart jump in her throat. "Whats it like? Hmmm..Lets see I want to go home..I want to die..." She thought "I want to just crawl in a hole somewhere and..and..I want him back so much...Why did I give up what have I done?"
"Well Sara..It..Its really nice."She finally managed to choke out. " Hes a really sweet guy. Everything you would expect." She said looking at him. She was shaking all over and she could feel the tears filling up her eyes.
"Ok why dont we play some NSYNC for you all now. And we'll be right back with more from the guys." Jordan said putting on "Tearin up my heart"
The room was silent and Katie felt the warm tears fall down her face. Justin reached over and placed his hands in hers" "Its ok.." He said with his voice shaking. "Im not gonna bite I promise." Katie looked up at him and smiled and He wiped her tears off her cheek.
"Justin I..Im sorry.."
"Morning Jordan! Katie!" Mike the morning News DJ walked in."Well looks
like we've got some visitors..." The guys introduced themselves to Mike and everyone went to the breakroom while he gave the morning news. Katie went over to the snack machine and bought a Pepsi. Justin walked over to her.
"Justin..I.."
"We need to talk." He said interrupting her.
"Yeah..I..I think so too."
"Well" He said rubbing his forehead."When do you think a good time would be?"
"Ummm..tonight at the club, after the concert?"
"Ok" He said, faintly smiling at the fact that she was actually going to be at the concert."So..do you like your job?" He said trying to break the unconfortable silence.
"yeah its pretty cool. The hours are good and the pay is a lot better than the receptionist job."
"Thats good."
"..And Jordan, he's a lot of fun to work with. I dont know how Id stay awake in the mornings without him."
"Oh?" Justin said looking up at her. She could see the jealousy in his eyes.
"No Justin. We arent dating."
"Oh I didnt mean that.."
"Of course not.." She said taking a drink and looking back into his eyes. He was worried about something. He couldnt seem to stand still. He was either fumbling with the hem of his shirt or scratching his head or something.
"Are...you seeing anyone now Justin?"
"No..are you?"
"No." Then Jc walked over.
"Hey Katie, we're all going out to eat after we leave here, care to join us, or will that be before your shift is over?"
"Umm.." She said trying to gather her thoughts."Oh yeah, Yeah I can go. Sure that sounds like fun."
"Great." JC said smiling and patting Justin on the shoulder. Then it was time to go back and finish the rest of the interview.
"So guys can you tell us anything about the new album?" Jordan asked.
"Well our first single is going to be "More than a feeling" " Jc said glancing over at Katie."And uhh..We should start shooting the video for it sometime next week. Our director Nigel Dick..He's looking around for a good location and everything."
"Thats great. Im sure everyone is excited about a new video from you guys."Katie said looking at Justin. He then remembered that night in the limo.
"And..You can be in the video"
Justin looked up at her. His eyes widend and a thought entered his mind. She COULD be in the video He thought. But it might bring back too many memories..It might make things worse..But what if it didnt? What if it made things better?
"Umm yeah I have a question for Justin?" a girl asked over the phone. Justin blinked his eyes and snapped out of his daze.
"Go ahead sweetie." Jordan said.
"Justin are you dating Britney Spears? The truth this time.."
"Ahhh the inevitable question." Katie said out loud surprising herself. All the guys started laughing, even Justin.
"No I am NOT!" Justin said. "and whats this "the truth this time"??" He said laughing. "What yall dont trust me?" He stopped laughing and looked down at the floor. "Umm..No" He said clearing his throat. "Im not dating her."
The guys answered some more questions and sang a little of "More than a feeling" acapella. Katie felt chills run all over her when they sang it. She had so many emotions all at once. She was so happy that he was there, That they could actually talk, That maybe...maybe things would work out this time. But what if they got back together and it was just like before. She didnt know if she could stand to lose him again.
Katie left work a little early and went to eat with the guys at the Hard Rock cafe. (of course). She had decided to just put everything else aside and enjoy herself like she used to when they would all go out. She sensed that Justin was doing the same.
"Hmm what do I want.." Katie said staring at the menu.
" Cheeseburger with everything..well done..with mayonaise and Jalepeno cheese...ummm..fries with ranch dressing and a coke. " Justin said smiling at her.
"Dont forget the cheddar peppers for an apitizer." Chris said.
"Geez you guys act like I got that all the time."Katie said laughing.
"You did!" They all said.
"See I dont forget the important things." Justin said
"Well..since you remembered it so well are you going to buy it for me too?" She said laughing
"Sure."
"Justin I didnt mean it..I can buy it myself."
"No I will. Let me buy it for you Katie"
"Well ok.."
The waitress brought thier food and they sat and ate and talked about old times. Katie had been so wrapped up in the whole situation with Justin that she seemed to have forgotten how close she was to the other guys and she realized how much she had missed them as well.
"Hey..is that Nigel??" JC said looking across the restaurant
"Our director? Whats he doin here?" Lance said.
"Guys!" Nigel said as he approached thier table."Great news! Ive found a location!"
"And you came all the way to Knoxville to tell us?" Chris said.
"No..Knoxville is the location..Its perfect! Ive found a great little building that we can film in and the outdoor scences will be beautiful with all the moutains and trees.." Nigel said, Then he noticed Katie sitting beside Justin. "Oh excuse me Im sorry..who is this young lady?"
"Oh this is Katie Johnson.." Justin said
"She's an..old friend of ours.." JC finished for him as Katie shook Nigel's hand.
"Very nice to meet you Sir. Ive seen a lot of your videos...theyre all very well done.
"Why thank you." He said rubbing his chin, staring at her and Justin."You know..Im beginning to get an idea.."
Justin smiled and looked up at him."Whats that?"
"That..you two look very nice together...I think she should be in the video."
"Oh I..I dont know about tha.." Katie said
"At least come in and do a screen test thats all I ask."
"Well..Ok I guess I could do that." Katie said wearily. Part of her wanted to say yes so badly but the other part knew how hard it was going to be.
"Wonderful..well Ill see you all tomorrow! Have a great show tonight!" Nigel said as he left the restaurant. Everyone sat there not really knowing what to say.
Katie invited Jordan to come along with her to the concert. They had 4th row seats...close enough for her to see Justin's facial expression when he saw her with Jordan. "Geez He's gotten so jealous!" Katie thought to herself. The guys put on a great show as always. During "More than a Feeling" Justin stared at her the entire time. Katie tried her best to hold back the tears..not wanting any of the fans around her to suspect anything since they recognized her from the station. Then after the show they went to the party at the Network, again. At first she and Justin didnt talk. That place just brought back too many memories for them both. But then the music started playing and they started dancing and joking around with the other guys and everything was fine. Katie hoped that it would be that way during the video shoot. But then again she knew they needed to talk about what had happened between them. They had planned to talk about it while at the Network, but they were both enjoying themselves so much that neither one wanted to bring it up so nothing was said about it. But now that they were going to be filming the video in Knoxville, that meant they would have 2 weeks together. The guys had planned to take 2 weeks to film it so that they could rest during that time as well since it was the middle of their tour and they didnt want to get exhausted like they had in the past. So they just decided to hang around Knoxville for that time. Surely they would be able to talk about it in 2 weeks!
