Chapter 10
A few months later...
Dani arrived at her apartment tired and sleepy. Her fall semester classes were probably her toughest courses yet. She walked in and groaned as she saw the red light on her answering machine blinking. She pushed play and layed down on the couch.
[ You have 3 messages...]
"Thats nice...play them already you slow piece of..."
[Message 1: "DANIII!!!!!!!"]
Dani bolted up from where she was laying. "What the??"
[ "Dani are you THERE??? Its Alyssa PICK UP THE PHONE!]
"Lyss just leave a friggen message!" Dani said plopping back down on the couch.
["Ok I guess your not there...]
"Ummm DUH?"
["ANYway...guess what I just got? You'll never guess...]
"Well if I'll NEVER guess then why do you WANT me to..."
["Family Values tickets FRONT ROW BAY BEE!...We're gonna see LIMP!!!"]
"Oh my gosh!!" Dani screamed. Limp Bizkit was becoming one of her favorite bands now. And the concert tickets were sold out before she had a chance to get any.
[Anyway..I guess your not home so..BYE!]
[Message 2:]
"Ugh Hurry up Hurry Up! I gotta call Lyssa back!"
["Dani! Would you get your butt home already and call me?!?!?!?"]
"Lyssa would you stop leaving me messages so that I can call you???"
[CALL ME WHEN YOU GET THIS! BYE!...Message 3:]
"If thats her again..."
["Dani...Hey its Johnny Wright."]
"Ohhhh no." Dani suddenly felt sick to her stomach.
["Listen, the guys are going to be filming a Christmas special next week at Disney, I was wondering if you would go and do a little preview of it for the page. I'll get you two passes so that you can bring someone along. Call me back. Bye.]
"This cannot be good." Dani said to herself, hesitating to pick up the phone. She decided to call Alyssa first.
Since she had left the guys on thier tour, Dani hadnt heard very much from them. Lance had called a couple of times and gave her some updates to put on the page. Justin called once 'just to see how she was doing' or so he said. But she pretty much didnt have any contact with the guys at all. She was still maintaining thier page, Its content was lacking since she wasnt too interested in working on it anymore, But still, Johnny paid her to work on it and that helped with tutition so she did her best.
"Lyss?"
"Dani where have you been??"
"Umm School Lyssa, you know that place you dont go?"
"I wasnt...feeling too..good today *cough*."
"Whatever."
"So have you checked your messages? Huh? Didya didya didya??"
"Yes!"
"Can you believe it?? Front row!"
"How did you do it?"
"I had like 3 phones with the station on speed dial."
"Are you serious?"
"Would I lie?"
"Umm well..."
"Ok dont answer that."
"Hey is that why you layed out today?"
"UUhhhh...isnt it a good enough reason?"
"Youre crazy."
"I know."
"Speaking of crazy...Ive got a favor to ask of you."
"Oh no Dani I dont like the tone of your voice."
"Just LISTEN to me Lyss...Please?"
"Fine."
"Ok well...Johnny just called,"
"Johnny?? Who the heck is Johnny?"
"Wright..Lyssa, Johnny Wright."
"Ohhhhh...the dude."
"Yeah the dude...anyway he wants me to go to this thing that the guys are doing for the Disney, some sort of Christmas concert or something I dunno.."
"And...?"
"And...I was wondering if you wanted to go..."
"NO Dani NO I am NOT going to the Lost Sea of Baby Blue! No."
"Lyssa PLEASE.."
"No..you dragged me to thier concert once before and it looked like a Smurf had puked on the audience."
Dani started laughing. "Yeah but Lyss I dont wanna go by myself."
"Why not? I thought these guys were all Buddy buddy with you."
"Well sorta.."
"Dani, What happened while you were on tour with them?"
"Nothing. I told you I just got really homesick."
"Yeah but before you left it was NSYNC this, and NSYNC that and Dani Timberlake This and..."
"Lyssa stop. please."
"See?? Now you dont even wanna mention thier name. What's the deal?"
"Nothing."
"Ok fine Ill go with you."
"You Will??"
"Yeah if you tell me what happened!"
"Alyssa!"
"Danielle!"
"Maybe...maybe later." Dani sighed.
"Ok. Well I guess Im gonna get off here."
"So you WILL go? Wont you?"
"Yeah Dani Ill go, But if some little brat knocks me down with her I LOVE YOU JUSTIN sign, Ill show no mercy so help me."
"Deal..Bye Lyss."
"Bye Dan."
The day of the show, Dani and Alyssa drove down to Disneyland. They arrived about an hour early and decided to go ahead and take thier seats. Alyssa was grumbling the entire time. Dani was afraid she was gonna spazz out on some teenyboppers.
Dani met Alyssa a couple years ago when she moved to Orlando. They hit it off right away..despite thier diffrences. Alyssa was very outgoing and she always spoke exactly what was on her mind. She had dark brown curly hair and bright hazel eyes.
"Lyssa calm down, It was just a sign."
"I dont CARE! That kid just whapped me in the head with it, and didnt even say nothin. Kids today...no manners..Oy Vay!"
"Oy..Vay??"
"Hey you dragged me down here, So I can talk french If I wanna Kapeche?"
"Now your Itallian?"
"Si'"
Dani laughed at her friend. She was so glad that she agreed to come along with her. It was going to be hard seeing Justin again. She didnt know what she was going to say to him. Was he mad at her because she hadnt called him? But then again, he hadnt called either. While Dani stared at the stage crew setting up, her thoughts went back to those days on tour with the guys. She was so close to them. She tried to remember why she decided to leave and why she didnt just stay and try to work things out
"Ok..I will give them credit," Alyssa said, interrupting Dani's thoughts,
"They can sing, and some of thier songs are good. BUT if I have to hear that song again Im gonna SCREAM!" she yelled out loud enough for the group of young girls behind her to hear. They had been singing 'Tearin up my Heart' to the top of thier lungs and Alyssa was getting annoyed...extremely annoyed.
The girls suddenly got quiet. Alyssa looked at Dani and winked and then turned around and faced the girls.
'Oh no what is she gonna do?" Dani thought.
"Hey girlfriends!"
"Hi." They all said while staring at Alyssa strangely.
"So who's your favorite Nsyncer huh huh??"
The girls excitedly started yelling out their favorites. "Chris!" "Justin!" "Lance!" "JC!" "Joey!"
"Cool! I like Fred."
"Theres not a 'Fred'" the 'Justin fan', obviously the youngest one probably around 10, said.
"Yes there is!"
"No there isnt!"
"Yeah huh!"
"Nut uh!"
"Fine!" Alyssa said, turning her back to the girls are crossing her arms against her chest while snickering to herself.
"You are so mean."
"Not I." Alyssa said. She then got an evil look in her eye and turned back around.
"Ya know what?"
"What?" one of the older girls said, getting annoyed.
"Actually I was just kidding about that Fred thing."
"Duh!"
"Umm..like, Oh KAY, valley girl, ANY way.." Alyssa chomped her gum loudly.
"Actually I know the guys."
"Yeah right."
"I do!"
"Let me guess, youre dating Chris?" one of the other girls said.
"Ummmm Chris..chris chris..."
"dredlocks." Dani whispered.
"What?!? NOooo Ewww! Not dredhead boy, Sick!"
"Dont talk about my Chris like that! He's perfect!" the 'Chris fan' yelled.
"Uhh..Yah sure kid, keep dreamin'"
"And he doesnt have dredlocks no more, He cut em' So HA!"
"What??" Dani said whirled around in her seat laughing.
"He did Not!" Dani hadnt seen the guys since she left, so she didnt know that Chris had cut his hair. And she didnt think that he ever would.
"He did too!"
"Kid your crazy, I know Chris, He would NOT cut his dreds!"
"Oh so does EVERYBODY know NSYNC?" another one of the girls said sarcastically.
"Yeah everybody cept you! Sucks dont it?" Alyssa said.
"Shut up."
"Make me."
"So who are YOU dating?" one of them said to Dani.
"She's dating Justin."
"LYSSA!" Dani said wanting to smack her.
"Oops oh yeah I wasnt supposed to tell."
"Nut UH..Justin is dating Ellie."
"Middle name 'Mae' Last name 'Clampett'?" Alyssa asked the same girl she was arguing with earlier.
"Huh?"
"Sorry, before your time kid."
"She's thier opening act."
"Who did you say again?" Dani asked her.
"Ellie, shes a new singer."
Dani turned back around and sat there confused. 'Who the heck is Ellie??' She knew the guys had a new opening act, but she couldnt quite place out their name. She didnt think it was 'Ellie' though.
"I wonder if dredhead actually cut his hair." Alyssa said.
"No Alyssa Im almost postive he didnt. Chris loves his dreds."
"Hmmm..your almost positive?"
"Yeah..."
"So, you think theres a chance that he actually did?"
"Well yeah I guess its possible but I dont see it happ..."
"Ok lets make a bet!" Alyssa said excitedly. Dani groaned to herself. Alyssa was always wanting to make bets, On anything she could think of, and the stakes were always pretty high. Thats the reason why she loved doing it.
"Come onnn Dani! Ok I say he cut them and you say he didnt, right?"
"Right..."
"Ok name your stakes."
Dani thought for a minute. "Ok." she finally said. "If I win, you gotta clean the 'Stang."
"Got it."
"And wax it."
"Ok, and If I win..."
"And vaccuum."
"Allright allright! "
"And you CANT take it to your brother and pay him to do it for you."
"But.." Alyssa frowned. "Oh Allright fine, Now if I win..."
"Oh no.." Dani said, she already knew what Alyssa was gonna say.
"We go get our belly buttons pierced!"
"Lyssa.."
"Come on Dani, dont be a wussy, shake on it."
"Fine." she said shaking her hand. "But he didnt cut it."
"We'll see. Come on lets go." Alyssa said grabbing her arm.
"Go where?"
"Backstage."
"Right now?"
"Yeah Dani, I hope Im not wearing this plastic tag around my neck as a fashion statement. Come on."
"But Lyss, lets just wait until after the show..." Dani begged her. She was in no hurry to see Justin.
"Dani come on..its boring out here. I wanna go backstage. Ive never been backstage to nothin' Please?"
"Ok." Dani said as Alyssa pulled her out of her seat.
