Chapter Five

Isaac could hear her screaming. The guest room was right next to his. He ran into the room to find Jade shaking on the guest room bed. The sheets were all twisted and she was thrashing around on the bed.

"Jade, Jade, wake up,"he whispered, shaking her softly.

When she opened her eyes and looked up at him she started to cry."He was going to let me die,"she told him in between sobs.

"Who?"Isaac asked, but one look into her eyes told him.

When her sobs began to subside, she told him the whole story. The dream, and how it had been exactly how things had happed the day that she had planned to commit suicide. How that had been the day that Taylor told her that he loved her. How in the dream, he hadn't cared if she lived or died.

"You're not staying here alone."He scooped her up in his arms and carried her into his room, where he placed her onto his bed.

"Diane isn't going to like this,"she said weakly as he tucked her in.

He smiled down at her, so helpless and sweet."I don't care. You aren't staying alone."

He didn't sleep that night. Instead, he sat on the floor and stared at Jade sleeping. His mother probably would have a fit when she discovered Jade in his room, but it really didn't matter. He was twenty-four year old, after all.

Moving out had never really crossed his mind. He liked his room and his family, even if they could be more than a little irritating at times. Zoe was seven, and he liked being there to watch her grow up. Plus with Jessi at seventeen and Avie at fifteen, they needed their big brother to protect them from and torture all their boyfriends. Besides, after losing Taylor, he didn't know if his mother could handle losing another son.

The next morning when Jade woke up she found Isaac sitting beside her on the bed, staring at her with a concerned look on his face."Are you okay?"he asked.

She nodded. She hadn't had anymore dreams that night, and Isaac's bed was much more comfortable than the guest room bed. Not to mention the fact that the smell of his cologne that lingered on the sheets was very comforting.

That seemed to satisfy him."Ready for breakfast?"he asked.
