Remember how I said revenge was sweet? Apparently Tay goes by the same principle.
A week went by and I had thought that he had forgiven me for the whole Jennifer thing, but apparently I was wrong.
He started out pretty pathetic. I came into my room one day to find all my Barbies on the floor, heads and other various body parts missing.
When I ran to tell Mom, Taylor was already sitting next to her, smiling all too sweetly.
"Mom! Taylor did something to my dolls!"
"Actually I was just telling Mom that I found Mama chewing on a Barbie head this morning and you must have left them on the floor or something."
"Mama?"I asked incredulously.
"Yeah, Mama. You know? Our cat?"
"Mama my butt!"I exclaimed.
"Jessi! I don't want to hear that language from you!"
If Mom hadn't been there... I'm not even going to think about that. There was no way our lazy, fat, old pregnant cat had gone into my room and scouted out the Barbie dolls I had put away just that morning.
No way.

He didn't stop there.
Mom started finding romance novels all over my room (obviously he had recruited Zac to help. I noticed they appeared to have been read more than once.... hmmmm). In my sock drawer, under the mattress, ect. It got to the point where I had to find them before she could.
He stuck with some pretty juvenile stuff. Dead bugs in my fave cereal, short-sheeting my bed, even slipping a whoopee cushion under my butt when we were at church. (ha, that one backfired on him; Dad caught him and he wasn't happy....)
This had been going on for about a week when Jennifer called."Hi, Jessi,"she said cheerfully when I picked up the phone."I was thinking about going to the fair on Saturday. How would you like to come?"
Would I ever!"Sure!"I exclaimed.
Mom and Dad ok'd it and we went off Friday afternoon (not until I finished my schoolwork of course; Mom NEVER lets us slack off).
It was great! She bought me candy, stuffed animals, took me on rides and we got a strip of pictures taken in one of those photo booths. We had just sat down at a picnic table to eat some big bowls full of homemade ice cream and talk when Jennifer brought up my brother.
"How's Taylor doing these days?"she asked casually, glancing up to observe my expressions.
I remained silent and continued eating my ice cream, letting a couple tears fall down my cheeks.
"Jessi?"She looked confused, then seeing the tears, put her arms around me."What's the matter?"
I burst into tears, trying to explain about what Taylor had been doing to me, sobbing the whole way through. She rubbed my back and told me over and over again that it was going to be okay.
"He hates me!"I exclaimed.
"Now I'm sure that's not true,"she said, stroking my hair."Taylor and I may just need to have a little chat when I bring you home."
That was EXACTLY what I was hoping for. I sniffled, letting my hair fall into my face so she wouldn't see my grin.

"Hi, Tay,"I said as we walked into the house. He was sitting casually on the couch, watching what appeared to be a soap opera on the TV.
He hit the "off" button pretty quickly so Jennifer wouldn't see what he was watching."Hey, Jessi,"he said. He looked at me funny, like he wasn't sure why I was talking to him.
"I'd like to have a word with you Taylor,"Jennifer said, stepping into the living room with her arms crossed.
Now he looked really confused."Um, okay."He sat up higher.
"Jessi could you go into the kitchen and get me a glass of water?"
Deciding that missing the beginning of their "discussion" would be better than missing the end, I ran into the kitchen and poured her a glass of water as quickly as I could, then placing myself just next to the entrance to the living room.
"How can you do something like that to a little girl!"I heard Jennifer exclaim.
"Do what? She's the one who's trying to make my life miserable."
"Oh, she started it huh? She's a little girl, Taylor! You'd think you'd be able to be the bigger on in this situation. Putting bugs in her cereal? What if she had eaten one and gotten sick? What you have done then?"
There was silence. I hadn't even thought of that one myself.
"I can't believe I didn't realize you were fourteen. How could I have not noticed how immature you were?"
Ouch, that hurt. I decided he'd had enough and walked in with the water for Jennifer.
"Here you go,"I said sweetly, looking over to make sure everything she said to him had really sank in. He looked pretty ashamed of himself. My work there was done. That would teach him for trying to get back at me.
