Chapter Two

Going solo had been so hard at first for him. Ike and he had tried to keep things going, but things just felt so wrong without Tay. The harmonies were off, and everthing just sounded too strange.

And then when Isaac married Jade, well, he'd just wanted to stay home with her then. Music wasn't the most important thing in his life anymore, whereas Zac had nothing else.

So now he was alone onstage. Occasionally Mac would join him for drum solos, but music wasn't really his thing. He was more interested in painting. His stuff was getting pretty good these days.

There were still fans, just not as many, and they screamed less, although they still screamed. Instead of large arenas, now Zac played small clubs all over the country, anywhere where he still had a fan.

He had once driven hundreds of miles out of his way to a small town in Alaska, just to play for a girl who had loved Hanson as a kid. He knew he was clinging to the past, but he couldn't seem to help it.

The past was all he wanted to live.
