The First year of The Rhythmics!

Here is the first year of the PollyRhythmics with some interesting things you may not know about some of the gigs we played!
It all started in May with the forming of the band, then came our first gig . . .

21st June - Smalley Vicarage / Charity Party
The first gig has also been one of the longest we've played!
Playing our set twice through and then taking requests at the end, it proved to be an incredible start to our bands history!
16th July - Yr 9 Presentation Evening
This gig unfortunately was our worst gig ever played, performing:
'When you say nothing at all'
'I'll be there for you'
'I'm a believer'
These items unfortunately did not go down well with the tough Yr 9 audience.

3rd August - NUC Charity Party
Another tough crowd but an enjoyable gig that only featured Chris and Karl, due to the other band members being on holiday.
This was the first gig that The PollyRhythmics made any money. It was made in a bucket in front of our performance tent.
An awful total of £3.48!

By the end of the gig there was more rain in the bucket than money!

10th October - Heanor Gate School Poetry Café
A gig played by only Karl and Louise.
An evening that went down very well with the audience...makes a change!

16th October - Heanor Gate School Talent Show
At last the gig that The PollyRhythmics had been preparing for an entire year to perform!
An incredible audience and a performance that went without a mistake gave The 'Rhythmics a RECORD Talent show win.
The record came form the amount of public votes that The 'Rhythmics received; a grand total of 68 votes, beating second place by double as second place came away with only 34!
8th December - Measham Christmas Family Party
The PollyRhythmics first properly paid gig!
Raising a grand total of £32!
Although another tough crowd it was once again a flawless performance.

19th December - Christmas Cracker Show (Heanor Gate School)
Just one number performed by The 'Rhythmics in this show but it once again went without a mistake!
The number performed was 'Merry Christmas Everybody' the Slade classic.
20th December - End of Term Christmas Show (Heanor Gate School)
The same two numbers performed 4 times to (once to each year) in less than 2 hours!
The two numbers performed were:
'The Night Santa Went Crazy'
'Merry Christmas Everybody'
'The Night Santa Went Crazy' was an incredible achievement as there had only been one run through of the piece 5 minutes before performing it!

20th December - Mundy Street Junior School
By far The 'Rhythmics best gig!
An incredible audience that at points during the performance were louder than the band!
There has already been a return PAID gig secured with the promise of more on the way!
This gig ended a day that saw The 'Rhythmics play to a total of almost 1500 people!

2002 - Whats Next?
In less than a year The 'Rhythmics played to about 3000 people!
An incredible amount for a band that only formed in May!
With more paid gigs and a chance to play in Germany on the horizon, what more will happen in 2003!
