2. Seraphim - one of
the six - winged angel's that stand in the presence of God.
3. tinkled - to sound
or make known.
4. tufted - cluster
of outgrowths connected at the base. In this case the narrator means a
rug.
5. wretch - a person
who is profoundly unhappy.
6. hath - Old English
for the word "has."
7. respite - period
of temporary rest or relief.
8. nepenthe - ancient
potion capable of inducing forgetfulness of pain and sorrow.
9. quaff - drink deeply.
