'Moderato' - My Chosen Piece
This piece 'Moderato', by Fernando Sor is quite short and simple but sounds nice when played well.
Characteristics of the Music
This piece uses the musical devices of repetition a little bit. It's in the same key of A minor all the way through, and has a dotted-quaver/semi-quaver rhythm. Some characteristics of the guitar Moderato demonstrates are: strumming (sort of), triplets, slurring, grace notes (not shown on above music) and chord strokes.
Comparisons
Because I do not have access to very many pieces by Sor at the same level as Moderato, I can't compare it very accurately. As you can tell by listening to one or two of Sor's other compositions, he wrote a lot of counterpoint with two melodies being played at the same time. But because this is a simple exercise designed to help people learn to play the guitar, it is not this complex.
