Spiredrake Spiredrakes are the mounts of choice for the flying cavalry of Windstead. Spiredrakes are 9 to 11 feet tall with wings that can extend to twice their height. They have dragonlike heads mounted on curving necks. Small smooth scales cover their body, ranging in color from ivory white to yellow and azure grey. Spiredrakes defend themselves with their remarkable, sharp teeth and their claws. They are not tame creatures and nobody except their rider is allowed near them. And even the rider can't exert full control over this beast. They don't ride 'on' the spiredrake, they ride 'with' the spiredrake. In Windstead the first thing a rider learns is to respect his drake and treat him as an equal, a valuable partner.
