Raid on Ramsgate! Episode III, by Scott Lynch

"It now appears that only a valiant and ferocious effort by the Luftwaffe enabled the Germans to maintain air superiority over Ramsgate during its brief occupation on 1 September. By mid-day, our build-up around the area had become sufficient to render even this advantage a moot point..."

From the official British Army post-action report;
Prepared by Captain Lloyd Newcombe, 7 September 1940

    Terrain and Setup
    This encounter should reuse the terrain prepared for Episode I. This time, the British will be attacking along the road from the south, and the Germans will have a defensive line across it. The German player may place his units anywhere in the northern half of the map. The British player may place his units on the southernmost quarter of the table, within 8 MU of the road.

    Certain areas of the road may be blocked off by wreckage or abandoned vehicles as the players desire.

    German infantry units and guns may be considered dug-in as the game begins.

    Mission Briefing
    German paratroopers and their support units have skirmished with frightened and confused British patrols all morning long in the forests of Kent. The road is littered with dozens of shot-up trucks and crashed automobiles. The British have been throwing up a heavy perimeter around Ramsgate, however, and the Germans know it is just a matter of time before reconnaissance in force, followed by the hammer blow.

    This mission is Medium priority for both sides.

    Mission Objectives
    The German objective is to keep the British at bay while withdrawing off the German edge of the map. Any surviving Fallschirmjager units are to link up with the main body in Ramsgate to be evacuated by sea. The Germans will win a minor victory if they still have three or more units on the map at the end of Turn 8. The Germans will win a major victory if they still have three or more units on the map at the end of Turn 12.

    The British objective is to prosecute the Germans holed up along the road with extreme prejudice. A massive armored thrust is building with the intention of retaking Ramsgate. These lines of tanks, walkers, and infantry are to roll back the German line and clear the road for the coming attack.

    Designer's Notes
    Now the British get theirs. A substantial German presence should remain from the first encounter. Even so, the British Threat Value significantly outweighs the possible German maximum. This will be a bloody encounter if the German player opts to put up a fight, which is well within his power.
